Winnie

The lovely Anita designed a class layout using Kaisercraft Violet Crush papers a while ago. This is what I made with her kit.

I cut my title on the Cricut with the Winter Woodland cartridge. Some of the flowers are layered with 3D foam and gloss added with Glossy Accents. I added some lilac flat-backed pearls. The butterflies have Stickles added for sparkle!

This is another of my family ancestor photos. - Winifred J. Holder known as Winnie (born 1913, married to Jack Taylor in Bromley in 1935) was the eldest daughter of my Great Uncle Walter Frederick Holder, known as Chum or Chummy (b1886) and his wife Ethel Rosina (nee Fuller, 1888 - 1955) married in 1910. All lived in the Bromley area. Peggy's younger sister was called Margaret E. Holder known as Peggy (born 1919).

Thanks for looking and thanks to Anita for the class.

52 Card Challenge - Week 30

Week 30's challenge is based on a technique-based prompt. It's all about achieving the look of negative die-cutting. For details of this challenge please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog.

Here is my birthday card for my daughter's boyfriend George.  They are away on holiday so I gave him his card a little early:

I filled my aperture with a Stampin' Up treat cup filled with water!

The background paper is from My Mind's Eye and the stickers and other papers are from BoBunny's Barefoot and Bliss collection.
I added flat-backed pearls and gems and cut the greeting with the Cricut.

First and Last Guinness!

The first kit of a selection from the recent Merly Retreat. I was unable to go myself this year, but was able to purchase some of the kits (thanks to Chrissy and Linda).

I chose this one to do first with a photo from our recent trip to Dublin (the reason I was not at the retreat). On the day we arrived we walked around the city exploring and ended up in the Temple Bar area. Catherine tried a sip of Alan's Guinness and decided that one was was enough!

The original layout was designed by Ali Parris for Kaisercraft and uses the Happy Snaps Collection (papers and stickers) on Coconut cardstock. The Hexagon stamp was randomly stamped with Memento Ink. I added some Glossy Accents and a few gems to the camera.

This layout is not my usual style but quick and fun to create and I have plenty of papers left over to make another one or two.

Thanks for looking.

Dreams and Delights

The card challenge on Scrapology this month has been sponsored by Tracey Dutton from Lavinia Stamps is challenging you to create a card based on 'Dreams and Delights'

Here are the two cards I had fun making for the design team gallery.

I used various Lavinia stamps to create these cards, lots of masking was involved for both of them. For the first card I used distress inks and a brayer to create the background on matt card. For the second one I tried Linda's Gelli plate with the prayer and inks.

I also used:
Black Bazzill
Greeting stamps are from Lili of the Valley
Scalloped edge scissors
Ribbon
Liquid Pearls & Stickles
Stampin' Up punches
8" x 8" card blanks from Craft Creations
Patterned papers from Basic Grey's Marrakech collection
Inks - Distress Inks, Adirondack dye ink pads, Memento, Versafine Pigment ink and Promarker pens

Pop over to Scrapology to see what the rest of the design team made for inspiration and have a go at our challlenge, there is a great prize on offer too!

52 Christmas Crackers 2014 - Week 28

Back with my Christmas card for this week, and I'm finally up to date again after my holiday. For details of this challenge please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog.

A quick reminder that this week's prompt came in the form of a photo for inspiration to get us kick-started. :) {Pinterest pin}
Lots of lovely features in this set of images that can be translated onto a card - I picked up on the fancy frame using the Cricut to cut a frame with the Sophisticated cartridge. I used black as a striking contrast colour element. I picked out the aqua for the background and red from the roof both from My Mind's Eye papers.

I focused on a quote/word art by cutting the word 'CHRISTMAS' with the Cricut using the Designer's Calendar cartridge and some silver glitter Thickers.
I also used some Christmas sticker freebies, gems 3D foam pads and Liquid Pearls.
Thanks for looking.

I used black and white Bazzill cardstock and aqua patterned paper from Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry collection. My silver letters are 'Peel-offs' and I have embellished the frames with some Liquid Pearls. The frames have been built up with 3D foam pads.

A Special Request

I was commissioned to make a card for a friend Tina's mother on her 80th birthday - sounds simple enough. Then Tina said her Mum loved her garden - sounded like a perfect theme for an 80th birthday card for a lady... then she added she also needed it to feature her Mum's favourite TV star - David Boreanaz from Bones - not quite so simple!

Here is what I came up with in the end:

I used:
Patterned papers - Basic Grey's Wisteria collection.
Card Blank - Craftwork Cards
Dies - Die-namics for upper, lower case letters and numbers, Memory Box for flowers, gate, fence and leaves
Punches - Stampin' Up - circle and scalloped circle, Woodware - Corner rounder
Ink - Distress Inks
Other - Flat-backed pearls and Stickles

I added a few die cuts and punched shapes to the inside too.

Hope you have a great weekend celebrating Tina's Mum.
