Wedding Day - Boxed Card

Today is the wedding of Sarah and Gavin, and Sarah's mother Margaret asked me to make a special card for them. She gave me a length of ribbon in the jade green of the bridesmaids dresses and asked that it be of a butterfly theme. She wanted a greeting inside the card. This is what I came up with:

I used lots of Bazzill cardstock in the jade and white, running 2" panels through an embossing folder. these were cut to length and mounted onto jade card before mounting onto the card. The letters were cut on the Cricut with the Storybook cartridge.

I cut the large butterfly with a set of Spellbinders dies, from the bottom up 1 jade butterfly plain, then a white one plain, then two with the details cut into them. These were all curved, then stuck down only at the body, then a fed 3D foam pads were uses to hold the wings apart slightly. the top layer was glittered up with crystal Stickles. This was finished off with some flat-backed pearls and antenna made from silky white cord.

I added some smaller butterflies using two different Martha Stewart punches. Again each was layered with jade under the white so only a touch of jade shows. Each one has a gem or a tiny pearl.

The greeting inside is an Irish blessing I found on the internet I added a line above this:

With love on your Wedding Day

May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun.
And find your shoulder to light on.
To bring you luck, happiness and riches.
Today, tomorrow and beyond.

By now the card was quite deep so I decided to make a shallow box for it.

To the lid I added a greeting using Lili of the Valley stamp and Peacock Feathers distress ink. I added this to circles punched with a Stampin' Up punch ad two different Woodware punches. I also added more butterflies and lettering.

I hope as the blessing says you have a lovely day, and all the best for your marriage Sarah and Gavin.
Thanks for looking.

  1. This is beautiful Lynn. I love the embossing and the hints of jade green. The jade green looks a similar colour to the bridesmaid dress Lara wore at my niece's wedding a couple of years ago.
