Over on Scrapology this month our card challenge has been set by our own DT member SCRAPDOLLY

She has picked an image from Design Seeds here The idea being we use these beautiful 'Thistled Blues' as inspiration for making our card for January.

Here are the two cards I made using these colours, cardstock scraps and the Cricut.
The cartridge I used is called 'Florals Embellished'
With a bit of bling in the form of pearls, gems and stickles added for good measure!

These cards were made for my crafty friends Liz and Wendy who both have a birthday this month - Happy Birthday girls!

Take a look on the Scrapology blog for details of the challenge, inspiration from the rest of the design team and the prize.

52 Card Challenge 2014 - Week 3

Week 3 of the card challenge is to make a card using a sketch recipe selected from Pinterest.
For details of this challenge please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog

Here is my card, made for Rosie's 21st birthday. I flipped the sketch and used different colours for the rectangles as suggested. I was asked to make a butterfly card.

The Butterfly was cut with the Cricut and the Create a Critter cartridge and the letters were from the Simply Sweet cartridge. I also used black Bazzill cardstock, Craft Creations card blank, ribbon scrap, an old greeting stamp, black and white gel pens for doodling, Stickles, Martha Stewart border punch & flat backed pearls/gems.

52 Christmas Crackers 2014 - Week 1

An addition to the 52 Card Challenge is to make a Christmas card each week as well or instead of the main challenge.

For details of this challenge please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog

It does seem strange to be making a Christmas card in January!
As this week's Challenge was to use new stash, I used my Cricut Cartridge - Winter Frolic to make this card:

Most of the rest is not new, The papers are all from Bo Bunny's Mistletoe Collection. The Cardstock is all by Bazzill and I have dry embossed the white card. The star and the trees are all from the new Cricut cart. I have added sparkle in the form of stickles, gems and nail heads. The star and the mat for the embossed card are both cut from silver Miri card. All the paper and card is inked with Distress Inks. I added some ribbon from my stash.

So here is my first card ready for Christmas 2014!
Thanks for looking.

52 Card Challenge 2014 - Week 1

Inspired by some of the cards made by others, I decided to make a start and join in with the 52 Card Challenge for 2014. For details of this challenge please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog

The challenge for week 1 was to use some of the new stash.

I have been trying to use up some old stash so this was quite a challenge, but I did have some new (to me) Bo Bunny Noteworthy die cut journal pages and accents for the Country Garden Collection, so I used three butterflies from this set together with some left over papers from the same collection. I trimmed off the white outlines from each butterfly before inking the edges.
I used some new Dusty Attic chicken wire, laser cut chipboard, a new Distress Ink - Gathered Twigs, new glossy accents and Golden Rod Stickles. The name was cut with the old faithful 'Storybook' Cricut Cartridge. The greeting is a new stamp from Lili of the Valley. The letters are glossed and the butterflies are highlighted with Stickles, gems, pearls and stamen for antenna.

Thanks for looking and I will be back soon with my week 1 Christmas cracker.

Craftilicious Carry All

I treated myself to a magazine by the title of 'Bag, Beads and Brooches' by Traplet Publications a few months ago. It has several very good articles for making bags and includes patterns and measurements. I wanted something to carry my current sewing or knitting project around, keeping all I needed to complete the job in one place.

Here are a few pictures of my finished bag:

Several of the fabrics are from Doodlebug Design Inc. Most materials are from my stash and come from various suppliers including Fabric8, Welling Sewing Centre, Cardinal Colours and Quilter's Haven.
And the project I have in the bag currently is another bag, this one is in pink and black and has been requested by my daughter Catherine.

Fun in the Sun!

Another memory from Wroxham Barnes scrapbooked! Alan took this photo of me with the children the first time we visited the fun fair at Wroxham Barnes in Norfolk. This layout is my design team page for the January challenge over on Scrapology. We are challenging scrapbookers to make a layout using a button (badge style). We are scraplifting Michelle, known as Momma-paparazzi.

I used:
Patterned papers and stickers from the Vintage Bliss collection by Simple Stories.
Button Badge from Kaisercraft
Distress Inks from Ranger
Alphabet stickers (Thickers) from American Crafts

selection of flat-backed pearls

Please see details of the challenge over on the Scrapology blog, you will also find inspiration from the whole design team.

Here is Michelle's original layout and our sketch.

Thanks for looking and I do hope you will join in the challenge, you have until 5th February.
