Our Pearl Wedding Anniversary

Today Alan and I have been married for 30 years!

We have spent the weekend away in Suffolk. On Friday we spent some time shopping and I was treated to some new clothes and flowers, followed by lunch in Woodbridge.

In the evening we went to the cinema to see Love Punch but there was a problem with the film and so we saw The Last Projectionist instead, hardly the same but an interesting film. It made us laugh as many years ago we took the children to this same small film theatre in Leiston to see Stuart Little and ended up seeing Men in Black!

The weekend was busy visiting friends and places and I had some time for crafting yesterday.

We spent today with friends Lesley and Gary. We have been to Snape, followed by a lovely lunch in the garden at the Jolly Sailor in Orford. This afternoon we took a long walk along the beach at Shingle Street. A lovely day and now we are driving home ready for work tomorrow.

I made Alan a card using the Cricut, the Cricut Craft Room together with the Lacy Labels and Sweetheart cartridges.

A Beautiful Autumn Day

Sunday the weather was very misty, but we got the bikes ready and headed off into the Rendlesham Forest. As we drew nearer the sun cam out and the mist disappeared. We had a lovely ride around the forest, showing Robert and Elaine the area.

Then we drove into Orford for a lovely lunch and an antique fair then onto Snape in the afternoon.

In and around Woodbridge

My brother Robert and his girlfriend Elaine came for their first visit to us in Suffolk, so on Saturday we decided to take them to explore in and around Woodbridge. We were so lucky with the weather - it was a beautiful autumn day.

Followed by walking through the town for some shopping and lunch in the pub before more shopping. We got Elaine some wool and and we started her knitting, her first project is a West Ham scarf for Robert - of course!

Twelfth Night

We didn't think we were going to make The Theatre in the Forest this year, there has been so much else going on. There are performances Tuesday through to Saturday each week from late July to Bank Holiday weekend in August and I had to work on Saturday. Then we discovered the very last performance is held on the Sunday, so in the end we drove up to Suffolk for the final performance of Twelfth Night, yesterday.

We had a brilliant evening, the shows seem to get better every year. I have a few pictures, but it is difficult as it gets dark during the performance. Twelfth Night is the Red Rose Chain's twelfth Shakespeare production, and the fourth one we have seen since we heard about them. Although the weather has been poor recently and it got cold during the evening, the rain held off. We turned up with picnic and blankets well prepared.

Tunstall Forest Canvas

I have recently added to my collection of Suffolk Canvases. Each one is a different place and year.  The canvases are mostly 16x16" and painted with acrylic paint. This canvas shows the photos I took in the Tunstall Forest in the snow back in December. The title is white glittery Thickers letters by American Crafts. The date is made with Basic Grey letter stickers. The white glittery brads are from Doodlebug Design.

JYC 2010 - 2nd December

Welcome to 2nd December! 

Shimelle's prompt for today is about Christmas weather. 

In previous years I have journalled about lack of snow at Christmas, but this year we have had snow since last Saturday here in Suffolk. I came here with my friend Linda on Friday night.  We planned a few days crafting over the weekend including spending Sunday at The Big Event Crop at Henley. Alan and Robert came up to join us on Sunday after the crop and we had a lovely meal out in Orford on Sunday night. It didn't actually snow on here on Sunday.  We woke to a very snowy scene outside on Monday morning, so Linda and Robert set off home. I had an appointment here on Tuesday, and I have the week off work.  I made my appointment by walking there and back through the snow. We were not able to return to Kent on Wednesday as planned but keep listening into the weather and traffic reports. We can't get through Essex to the Dartford Bridge / Tunnel due to the weather and resulting problems with the M25 and A12. Just as well I am on annual leave! We have managed to get out each day either on foot or a short distance by car, to then walk around. Thus we took photos in Snape and the Tunstall Forest (already blogged). Today we made it as far as Woodbridge for lunch in the pub, sitting by the open fire, after walking around the town.

This layout was made with photos I took in the Tunstall Forest as they show this winter's weather perfectly.

The papers are all old ones from the Basic Grey 'Dasher' collection. I used an EK success border punch, lace, charms, flat backed gems and ribbons. The Gem flourishes are from Prima's E Line.

For the title 'Winter' was created with letters cut on the Cricut using the Plantin School Book cartridge. 'Wonderland' is American Crafts Black Tie velvet alphabet stickers.

The journalling block and snowflakes were also cut on the Cricut using the Storybook and Christmas cartridges.

52 Walks with My Camera 2010 - Week 47

It snowed for a while on Saturday, then stopped, a lot of it melted, the fields and other exposed areas remained white. Each morning we have woken to a another snowfall overnight. Alan and I wrapped up warm and drove into to Tunstall forest to take a walk with our cameras. It's amazing how often the light changed during that short period of time. It wasn't snowing at the time, but much snow was being blown from the trees.
