Peartree's 5th Birthday Celebrations: Challenge Two - Year Six

Here is my layout for Peartree's 5th Birthday Celebrations: Challenge Two. This challenge is to use 5 of the same shape or word on your page I have used a cutfile that has 3 Giant Crayons. I cut this twice to give me six crayons and trimmed one off!

For the border, I used a sheet of Doodlebug Designs Fruit Strand - Apple a Day paper, gutting this to give me a 1! border. I trimmed down a sheet of Smooth White Bazzill to 10.5" x 10.5". 
I flicked Distress inks of several colours over this white space. 

I cut the Giant Pencil cutfile twice from Black Bazzill, and then backed it with scraps of coloured Bazzill Cardstock. I also used some silver card for the metal bands on the pencils.

I arranged the pencils on the layout, mounted my photo onto white card, and placed that onto the page too.

For the title, I used the Spellbinders - Simple Stories - Say Cheese, Classic Mouse, Alphabet Dies. I cut the numbers and letters in black, then in coloured cardstock.

Year 3 School Portrait - 3 x 3

I have been meaning to try the technique using alphabet stickers to fill a shape, which I have seen several scrappers try in the past. So, I chose this school portrait of the triplets back in 1999, when they were in Year 3. It is also a great way of using up some letter sticker stash. Hence, why I ended up making three layouts using the same photo, one of each of the children's scrapbook albums.

I cut a circle from the centre of a scrap sheet of cardstock. and used the outer card as a template to lay over the white, to fill with stickers.

I started with this one first, for Andrew's album, and used the ramains of a pack of Thickers - Nutmeg, Glossy Chipboard Letter Stickers.

All three layouts were based on a sheet of Smooth White Bazzill. for this one I flicked some red, blue and yellow Distress Oxide Inks onto the card first, as I was using just green letters.

I found this apple sticker in my stash, I'm nots sure where it came from, but it's made of some sort of soft plastic. I wrote the journalling around the edge of the circle.

My second layout, made for Emily's Album, was made by using one or two stickers from many different sticker sheets.

For Catherine's layout, I used my stash of Basic Grey, Cafe Rojo font stickers.

Special Memories from School

In 2003, on the very last day of primary school (St. Paulinus) Andrew, Catherine and Emily's class had a special service in St. Paulinus Church, in Crayford. This photo shows Andrew in the church yard just after that service.

I used the May Papermaze Crop kit to create this page. It was designed by Janet Warren, but I can't find it on the Papermaze blog to show you her original, I'm sure I saw it there before!

It was good to work with masculine papers for a change.

The kit contained papers from Simple Stories, Documented Collection (Memories, Damask/Flourish and Bingo Cards / Chevron).

Pinecone Bazzill

Brads and a pearl swirl.

I cut two bingo cards from the paper to say 'Special Memories'.

I gutted the stripe paper so I could use the dots on the reverse for my photo mat.

I cut some ribbons from the cardstock using the Cricut and added liquid pearls to them.

I also cut a selection of stars using the Cricut, inked and layers them to the bottom left of the photo.

That young man is now 20 years old and today he is travelling home from Switzerland - looking forward to seeing you tonight Andrew - safe journey x

The Victorians

My children dressed for Victorian Day at Primary School back in 1999

This is my second page for the Scrapology May 'C is for Charms' challenge.

This is the pretty layout we are scraplifting by Karola Witczak

 Here is our sketch 

I used papers from Kaiser Craft's Sweet Nothings collection.

The stripe paper is called 'All Yours', and the beige patterned paper is called 'Devoted'

The music print is called 'Sincerely'

Green print is 'Love Letters'.

Use a sheet of cardstock as a base, this will be completely covered, so don't worry about the colour.

Cut 2 strips 12" x 2.5" from the striped paper, ink the edges and stick to top and bottom of base card.

I cut the Devoted paper to 9.5" x 12" and trimmed the 12" sides with a Martha Stewart border punch. Ink the edges and stick centrally to base.

Cut the photo mat from music paper the same size as photo. Distress both photo and mat, ink the edges and mount off set onto layout, don't stick right down as other bits need to be tucked underneath later.

Use the Big Shot and cut the clock face from cinnamon Bazzill cardstock and add to page.

Cut title from pink side of 'Love Letters' paper and shadow from Suguaro cardstock - I used the Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge.

Cut leaves from Storybook Cartridge and green side of 'Love Letters' paper and add to layout with some pre-made roses. The butterflies were cut from the 'Love Letters' paper and glittered with Stickles. I added metal photo corners, and some charms.

I added a buckle charm to a length of brown gross grain ribbon and attached over the bottom of the photo.

The book plate was made using the Fabulous Find cartridge and I added some flat backed pearls.

What a day!

Today was the Awards ceremony at Catherine's old school - Trinity C of E School. It was lovely for her to meet us with some friends again, bu as it is still term time may couldn't make it. Because Catherine is at University in Twickenham she was able to come home for a long weekend. The event was organised to give out the GCSE certificated followed by the A Level certificates. Then it went on to special awards, she was rewarded for her achievements by being awarded a prize for Dance and English Literature. Then to our surprise she was awarded the Head Teacher's Award. Each year he picks someone for the award from any year throughout the whole school. He had some lovely words to say about her efforts and achievements. Then afterwards there was photos with Mr Collins and other award winners. I was not expecting to have my photo taken - but the proud parents were called upon of a photo too!

It was a lovely service and such a lovely surprise. Needless to say we are very proud of her too.

Oh The Weather Outside...

Been such a busy week, working very long days Monday and Tuesday, and on call overnight both nights. Then trying really hard to finish on time today so I could get home in time to help Catherine and her friend prepare for tonight's production of Children of Eden. Alan drove us all to the school in time to watch the performance at 7pm. Here are some still photos taken from the video clips. Catherine played the part of Yonah.

Today's prompt is all about weather at Christmas time. It would be wonderful if it snowed at Christmas, but all to often it is mild and dry. Today it is raining heavily here, as it has been most days for the past week, except yesterday when I had to scrape ice from the car, and it was much colder and brighter. We have had snow this year, back in February, and the children really made the most of it, playing in the garden ans in nearby Shenstone Park and Hall Place.

A layout for today will follow after Saturday's crop, the photos are printed and the papers selected, just need to put it all together. I have been playing with the Christmas cartridge for the Cricit and the snowflake image.

Linda and I were trying out the Cricut's again on Sunday and I had a go with her new 'Hello Kitty' Cartridge (thanks Linda). This is what I came up with. It's great as there is something there for every season.

Chatherine's school asked me to make some 'thank you' cards for the school production of 'Children of Eden' next week. I used the 'Hello Kitty' Cartridge for the rainbows and the 'All Mixed Up' cartridge and the Design Studio for the lettering.


Catherine asked me to make some 'thank you' cards for the dance teachers. She has her tap exam this weekend and it will be the end of therm at the Performing Arts Centre. Once I had worked out how to cut the parts in all in the right colours, I pieced them together and mounted them onto snowflake scrapbook paper and blue 6x6" cards. A little glitter glue was added for sparkle!
.Then I was asked to make a banner for the Youth Group at work as they had challenged another Hospice to a Wii Bowling Challenge this weekend. This time I used 'Don Juan' cartridge. Thought I would make the 'Wii Challenge' bit removable so they can use the banner again for another event, so it is attached with a little Blu Tac.

I love the newness of September, even though I no longer go to school or college, it's still going on for my children. They will be starting their last year of school this September when they enter year 13. It's AS results day for the girls on Thursday. I'mlooking forward to learning some new tricks!
