I'm over on the Papermaze blog today with the second pair of layouts made using the November Papermaze Kit. A lovely selection of bright colours with some black and white too.

Happy 3rd Birthday

This little girl is a very colourful character, and so this photo of her having (wooden) birthday cake for breakfast on her birthday was ideal for this week's FTLOPP challenge.

The task for week 10 of the Be Colourful challenge was to use all nine colours from the previous weeks. So I have used - Sapphire, fuchsia, yellow, white, tangerine, purple, purple, teal and scarlet.

I used a rainbow cut file by Paige Taylor Evans - Paige by Page, cut from white Bazzill. I also used white Bazzill for the base of the layout.

Some of the papers are also by Paige Taylor Evans - Pink Paislee Horizon #12 for the frame, and scraps of #3 for backing the cutfile.

The star paper backing the clouds is from Shimelle's Field Trip collection - Stay Curious.

The title is created with American Crafts Foam Thickers.

The coloured areas of the rainbow have been given a sparkle with some Nuvy Crystal Drops - Gold Coast. Finally I added a smatterine of timy gems.

CSI - Sun Hat

This is my second answer to CSI challenges (308). Having made the first 'Black and White Cat Seeks Colour' which I blogged yesterday - I decided to use the left over papers to make another layout.  I used the same cold case clues to scrapbook this photo of my daughter Emily when she had a new sun hat back in 1999, we were staying with my parents in Fairlight at the time.

The clues I used are:
Find older papers that match some of the colours in The Scene / are bright and colourful / geometric pattern / circular elements - My papers are not as old as some I used on other challenges, but I have been carrying them around with me since they first came out, finding it difficult to decide what to do with them despite loving them. They are from Shimelle's American Craft - Field Trip collection.
Brads, Buttons or Bling - enamel dots and hearts
Pie Chart - took apart the die cut pie chart from the collection and used parts of it and rearranged the elements from it too.

Other items used:
Distress Ink Pads to ink cut edges and to make an ink to spritz over the page.
AC Thickers - Truly Grateful Puffy Phrase & Accent Stickers and Happy Thoughts Foam Letter Stickers
Bazzill White cardstock

Starting Point Becomes A Regular Feature

During last weekend's Online Scrapbooking weekend on Shimelle's blog, she included a challenge called Starting Point. It was so popular, this is going to be a regular feature. Scrapbook Starting Points. Shimelle says "...And it also means we should have a starting point challenge every week, right? On Saturdays. Saturday Starting Points. It has a ring to it."

So here is the starting point for this week.

Cute as a Button

Another challenge from the Online Scrapbooking Weekend. - 'A Colour Story Challenge'. This time we were required to create a project in red, white and aqua!

I decided to use this photo from 1999 of my nephew Simon when he was a year old, featuring his red and aqua tartan dungarees.

I chose red white and aqua cardstock from Bazzill, Bo Bunny's Ocean Dot cardstock and patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket's Dutch Girl Collection. I used Audrey, Klara and a die cut shape.

The large shape and frame were cut using a Technique Tuesday template.
The letters are George and Basic Shapes Cricut Cartridge, Doodle Bug Design rubons and stickers.
I also used white ribbon and Colorbox chalk inks.

Portmeirion

This challenge set by Shimelle during the Online Scrapbooking Weekend was ideal in getting me to create the second page of a double spread. I had made the first page at Debden back in March and as yet not shared this on my blog. Partly because I felt it was unfinished and also it needed another page to complete it. I have so many lovely colourful photographs from this amazing place. We went on a day trip while staying in Snowdonia National Park back in 2004. We had a great day despite dodging the frequent rain showers!

The challenge is called ' Grid It Up' and Shimelle said "Create a project with a grid as a design element! You can interpret that any way you wish! Get creative!"

For the grid I used this sketch by Jana Eubank and flipped it round.

I used:

Patterned papers from Basic Grey's Marrakech collection - Vanilla chai, calming moon, mandarin slice, palace blue, African nectar, masala bella, honey bush and 2 x Madagascar mint. Lots of these were scraps from older projects.

American Crafts chipboard letter stickers in stroll (mint). These were distressed with sand paper, dabbed with chalk inks and then had a thin layer of glossy accents added over the top.

I Love My Teapot

My layout for the Online Scrapbook Weekend From The Heart challenge.  Shimelle set the challenge by saying "create a layout with I love… or I heart… as your title. Your page design can be anything you fancy and please be encouraged to have fun with your topic. What certain something really makes you happy but you haven’t really recorded in your albums?"

One of my very first blog posts back in 2009 was about this polka dot tea pot, which I purchased from Whittards, not an expensive pot, not an antique or valuable - but I love it. I love the shape and the colour, it makes a great cup of tea and it even pours well. At the time I said it would make a good subject for a layout, so here it is over two years later!

For the layout I used:

Patterned papers - Basic Grey's Lime Rickey Collection - Boston cooler, howdy doody, tart & tiny, element stickers.

Letter stickers - Sandylion birthday alphabet, Making Memories black puffy alpha, American Crafts foam daydream, Me & My Big Ideas and Doodlebug Designs.

Rub-on's - Doodlebug Designs, Kaieser rustic elements, Urban Lily framed fill ins,Basic Grey.

Other - felt, brads, flat backed gems black pen, price tag, blossoms.

P.S. Sad to say this pot is now destined to be a flower pot as the lid went the same was as many others. My hubby has a knack of breaking them! But I now have a lime green one!

Do You Remember That Dress?

As the 1968 song written by mcgough & mcgear and recorded by the scaffold goes. Which is relevant to my layout as the photos are from 1972'ish.

This is another layout for the Online Scrapbooking Weekend over on Shimelle.com.

This challenge is called 'Lets Go Retro' and has had me scrapping photos I have been meaning to capture in my album for several years.  Shimelle said: "scrapbook a photo from before 2011. No current pictures allowed. If you can, embrace the idea and scrap something a bit retro or something from your childhood, but I totally understand not everyone has pictures like that at the ready."

 Here I am in a favourite dress, which I remember well, my sister and I both had the same. Here I am in the garden of Clockhouse Road, surrounded by Sunflowers and posing with my Gran (Winifred).
it was red and white, and I loved it. The skirt was printed cotton in a geometric design, similar to the paper I have used here. The top was made of broderie anglaise lace and it was all brought together at the waist with a gypsy style belt which was laced together with ribbon, through eyelets, set into the red fabric.

Above the two photos I used and below my brother and sister on the same day.

Supplies:

Patterned papers - Basic Grey, Nook and Pantry collection - teacakes and placemats and element stickers.

Cardstock - red bazzill, white scalloped cardstock Papermania.

Letter stickers - Basic Grey, Lime Rickey

Punches - tiny flower, corner rounder.

Cricut - George and Basic Shapes cartridge

Ink - Brilliance dew drop - poppy

From stash - red and white ribbon, broderie anglaise pre-gathered lace, luggage label,

self adhesive, flat backed pearls and gems, red felt, brads, eyelets, paper blossoms, card candi,

For the layout I used white scalloped 12" x 12" cardstock for the base. I gutted this and cut a 5" circle from the scrap. This was placed on top of a 5 1/2" circle cut from the red side of the teacakes paper.

The placemats paper is similar to the pattern on the skirt, I cut this to 10" x 10" and mounted centrally on the white cardstock.

I wrote the journalling on a luggage label and this can be pulled out from its pocket on the layout. There is also a little journalling on the Element sticker label.

I added this definition - Broderie Anglaise (bro•de•rie an•glaise)- Embroidered fabric, usually white cotton, in which holes are cut in patterns and over sewn, often to decorate lingerie, shirts, and skirts.

Really enjoyed this challenge, making the layout and the little trip down memory lane.

Flower Girl

Another challenge from the Online Scrapbook Weekend. This one is called 'Starting Point Challenge'.  Sponsored by Basic Grey, Shimelle gave us the challenge to create a layout that starts from a set design. Use any papers or colours you like, but before you add any pictures, start with that large box of paper in the background, a wide vertical strip plus a narrow stripe and a horizontal block. Then complete a layout! You can use the page above as inspiration, but it’s not required. See where this starting point sends you!

So with my Basic Grey Wassail papers I started from here following the basic design:

I used Wassail papers - spiced tea, noel, turtle doves and sleigh ride. Although these are from a Christmas collection there are plenty of patterned and plain papers that will work for other occasions.

A photo of Jessica at the wedding a few weeks age. I added pearls, gems, perfect pearls, lace, ribbon roses, BG Chipboard stickers, element stickers and alphas and American Craft alphabet stickers. I also used a journalling block stamp, Memento Tuxedo ink pad and Colorbox chalk inks.

Summer Holiday

This layout is in answer to a challenge called 'The Chop Your Paper Challenge' on Shimelle's blog in the online scrapbooking weekend. The challenge is to "Create a project that is embellished with paper rather than embellishments. Take a piece of paper (or two) and chop it up until you have enough to dress up your page!"

I used papers from Fancy Pants, Beach Babe collection (most of which are scraps from another layout, to be revealed on Scrapology at a later date). These were flying fish, cards, tropical and The circular piece is one I have had for years, from My Little Shoe Box. The letters were cut on the Cricut using George and Basic Shapes cartridge. I used several punches from Stampin' Up and Martha Stewart. I also used some perfect pearls to decorate the paper elements.

This layout also responds to the 'Wake Up Call' Challenge from the same weekend project. We needed to state one thing we want to scrapbook today - I chose old seaside photos. These pictures are converted from colour slides my Dad took of me on the beach while on holiday in about 1961.

Bronte Parsonage Museum

I'm taking part in Shimelle's online scrapbooking weekend, she suggested we might like to take part in this 'Scrapbook Sketch of the Week' as a pre week-end challenge. Shimelle already had this week's sketch on her blog for us to work from - so I did! I used a photograph from a trip to Yorkshire in 1989, when we visited the Haworth and the Bronte Parsonage Museum. I also used a postcard of the three Bronte sisters.

I used the new Basic Grey, Oxford collection - dean's list, preppy plaid, study hall and letter stickers. Kraft Bazzill, Lush flocked chipboard Letters - My Mind's Eye.
