Tiny Cinema

During our week off back in March we visited our friends at Henstead and we all went into Southwold together. Merriel Gardiner is a freelance writer and was working on an article for Suffolk and Norfolk Life Magazine, which she called 'Cinema Paradiso' (which just happens to be one of my favourite films). Merriel took us to see the tiny Electric Picture Palace. It was just like taking a step back in time. The Southwold Film Society have been enthusiastically showing films there since 1998.

This cinema was created from an old stable block. It has been named after the first Southwold Cinema which opened in 1912 and has been designed in this period. With just 68 seats and a small box office, this cinema also has a tiny box office, circle and it's own 'Tiny Whrlitzer'.

We have promised one another we will attend in 20's costume one evening later in the year.

It was a beautiful day so after the cinema we walked around the town and then river where we enjoyed a coffee in the sunshine. Hard to imagine we did that on 20th March and now on 20th April it is so wet!

Thanks for showing us this special tiny corner of Suffolk.

Home at Last

Here is a layout I made at the Cardinal Colours Crop Weekend. I had seen something similar in one of the Cricut Magazines and knew just the photo I wanted to use. The photo of Andrew was taken just after we arrived home from hospital with the triplets. They were two months early, and discharged from the special card baby unit at four weeks.

I collected together suitable papers and Bazzill. The die cut circle is Crate Paper - Lemon Grass paper from the Lemon collection.
The patterned patters are Making Memories Animal Crackers collection - Jack papers.
The Cricut cartridges are Animal Kingdom, New Arrival,  All Mixed Up and Life's a Beach.
The butterfly punch is Martha Stewart.
This was fun to make - Thanks for looking.

Happy 50th Birthday Sylvia

It was my lovely sister Sylvie's 50th birthday on Saturday, we celebrated with a big family lunch out yesterday.

I made this card using some Tulip decoupage design images from Papermania.
The bow, patterned paper and heart doily are also Papermania.
The card blank and card candi are from Craftwork Cards.
The numbers are American Crafts vinyl Thickers.

Andrew had a new cook book for his birthday two weeks earlier 'The Boy Who Bakes' full of lovely cakes and Sylvia picked the Apple Pie Cake, so he made it for her. It looked good before we left home, but had to travel from Crayford to Shooters Hill to pick up Catherine, then to Eden Park for the meal. After the meal it was back in the car to West Wickham to Sylvie's for coffee and cake.  It did not travel so well, but still tasted very good!

At the restaurant.

Happy 60th Birthday Denise

My sister asked me to make a card for her friend Denise's 60th Birthday, so here it is!
She requested pink hydrangers.

I used a very old PSX Botanicals hydranger stamp and coloured it with my Promarkers (moss, olive, marsh, fuchsia, blossom, carnation and sunflower).

The papers are Basic Grey from the Sultry collection (dressy, swell and poeny), the letters and numbers are from the Urban Prarie collection.

Also used
Stampin' Up circle and scalloped circle stamps
Organza ribbon
Chalk Ink
Perfect Pearls
Flat backed gems
