Woo Hoo!!

Well I am chuffed to find I made the top five in the Passion for Promarkers Challenge for week 42. I have to say the colour combo was not easy and mum had to have a carrot cake with lime icing on her card!!

Next challenge involves a sketch, so I may even get a layout done for this one.

Spring has Sprung!

Spring is in the air at last, it's mother's day tomorrow, the bulbs are pushing their way up through the soil. Such a busy time of year in our house as all three of my children will be 18 on 31st March, there is mother's day tomorrow and Easter in early April.

Even the cup cakes in Thornton's we had while out shopping today were spring flavoured, I chose this lemon one - Yum!

Linda came to stay last week and gave me this super extra large cup and saucer full of small daffodils. They were still buds when she arrived with them, but now they are flowering beautifully. Thanks Linda.

I was away for a few days last ween and when I returned Alan offered to go shopping for groceries. When he returned he gave me these flowers, and the plant shown below. I think I must go away more often!

Mother's Day

The colour combination for this weeks Passion for Pro markers challenge is Bright Green and Mango.

I thought I would use this challenge to make a mother's day card. I am up in my scrapping area making my card for my Mum while my kids haCheck Spellingve told me to keep out of Catherine's room where they are making plans for me!

I used Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry collection pack, together with these two rubber stamped images given to me by my lovely friend Anita. I added green and orange gems, ribbon and two kitchen buttons which have been in my stash for years. The tile was cut using Designer's Calendar Cartridge for the Cricut.

Love using good quality, double sided papers for card making, means the inside and the back of the card are self decorated! I will make a small insert for my greetings inside.

Well, the gifts are wrapped and I have been food shopping today. I'm taking the kids over to Mum's and my brother and I are cooking lunch there.

Pro markers used are: mango with honeycomb and soft peach for shading. Bright green with forest green and leaf green for shading. Crimson on dress. Umber, caramel and henna for hair. Canary for egg. Pastel pink, dusky pink, ivory, satin, blush and black. I also used the blender pen and a white gel pen for highlights.

Chatham

Walk with my camera 52 in 2010 - The Historic Dockyard Chatham - Week 10

I planned to do my walk in Lancaster University grounds this week. I travelled there with my son Andrew for his interview at the University. We were up before 5am, in order to get to the local station to take the train to London Bridge. Then the tube to Euston in time for the fast train to Lancaster leaving after 7am. I thought we would have time between appointments to walk around and take photos. The staff has other ideas! There was barely time to get away to use the toilet! We had talks and tours of the lecture facilities and the campus, then there was lunch provided and a tour of accommodation. While Andrew had his interview I attended talks for parents on history of the University and funding for the next four years. At the end of the day we had to run for the bus to get back to the station in time for our train. The staff were all so helpful and friendly, and we had a good day, but the camera didn't leave my handbag all day!

.... and so .....

Today I visited another University, but this time I was there as part of my job to lecture to the nurses doing their children's nursing at Canterbury University at the Medway Campus. This is located at Chatham, very close by is The Historic Dockyard Chatham and Dickens World. It was a grey day and I was not free until the early evening when the light was fading, but I managed a few pictures, by just walking around the local area.

It would be good to go back to both these places to look at them properly when they are open later in the year.

Hydranger & Watering Can Cards

Promarker Challenge

Passion for Promarkers challenge for this week is 'Back to Nature and any colours. I chose this old stamp from PSX which I have had for many years, nice to use it again after all this time. The papers I have had in my stash for some time too, they are from K & Co.

Promarkers used are Lavender, China Blue, Denim Blue, Powder Blue, Henna, Shale, Forest Green, Pear Green, Moss and Olive Green.

Then a second card using another old PSX favourite, and more K & Co. papers. Too many different coloured Pormarkers to list. Ribbon, lace and flower buttons from my stash.

Family Day Out

We had another lovely day at Jill's monthly crop yesterday (Cardinal Colours). I made the layout below and nearly finished another. We celebrated both Jill and Anita's birthdays, which are later this month.

My parents recently gave me this photo of my grandparents and some friends, we are not sure where it was taken, but it looks like a beach and they are in deck chairs. I am waiting for more derails as to who the other three people are and I will add journalling. The background paper is from the Granola collection by Basic Grey. The patterned papers and die cut elements are from Pink Paislee. I used Anita's Ash branch punch and added a lot of pearls blossoms and gems.
The The layout design was scrap lifted from one I spotted by Gabrielle Pocllaco. This and other stunning layouts by the creative and talented Gabrelle Pocllaco can be seen on her blog - Such a Pretty Mess. Pop over and take a look at all her pretty layouts.
