Touring Scotland with the EV - Day 4

Day 4 (Wednesday, 5th October)
A 208 mile journey today and finally over the border into Scotland. We had visited Aberdeen last year and Edinburgh the year before so decided to explore some new places. We did drive through the Cairngorms National Park last November, but didn't have time to explore the beautiful villages on route, so this time we booked to stay over at Braemar in the heart of the park. On route we stopped to charge in a pretty village called Wooler, with a great wool shop!!

Then another charge stop was in Blairgowrie in a car park by the Library. We were a little surprised to find the car park closed as it had just been re tarmacked! What now? Lucky for us the med who were working on the car park were sitting in their lorry and managed to clear a path to the charger for us - so all was well in the end. While charging I found another nice little wool shop (The Work Basket) where I was able to get some Aran wool for the gloves I plan to make.

Cairngorms National Park
We stayed at Craiglea B&B, very helpful, friendly hosts and a comfortable room we can highly recommend. Another reason for picking the village was that the car park had a car charger - however it was not working!

We walked around the village in the evening and again the next morning. You can visualise what the village is like during the skiing season and when it is cut off due to snow. The locals had many stories to tell about these occasions. The heart of the village has 'The Gathering Place' with places to eat and shop. We had a lovely evening meal in The Bistro, it was a quiet evening and we had lots of attention from the waiter, who was very informative about family life in this village.

Also in the village are the ancient Kindrochit Castle ruins. I had a wander round with my camera early the next morning.

Onto Inverness for our next stop.
Thanks for looking
