Happy Holiday

I made this layout using the My Creative Scrapbook kit for July. I started off being inspired by design team member Maree Crozier's layout, but my design went in a different direction using tags instead of stripes, so I still have that lovely striped paper to use on another page.

My photo was taken back in 1967, and shows me (7 years) with my sister (5 years) on the garden gate of our holiday cottage in Woolacombe Bay. Happy memories of those holidays, and I remember those dresses so well too.

I chose to use the following items from the kit:
Maggie Holmes - Woodland and Grove collection - Menagerie paper (background)
Maggie Holmes - Woodland and Grove collection - Uniquely Yours (for the tags)
Maggie Holmes - Woodland and Grove collection - Floral Ephemera
Maggie Holmes - Woodland and Grove collection - Stickers

From my own stash I added:
Distress Oxide Spray
Twine
Doodlebug Designs - Alphabet Soup Puffy Letter Stickers - Cupcake, Lily White, Bumblebee & Mint
Sizzix Tim Holtz Thinlits Holiday Words 2 Script die set

Off to make more now!

The photo shows me with my brother and sister at Polhill Garden Centre last year.

Hello Sunshine

Today was crop day at Papermaze and this is the layout made from Janina's Crop Kit. For the first crop of the year I actually started and finished the layout at the crop.

I used a photo from my recent trip to Washington to visit Catherine. The photo was taken of a very cold but sunny day sitting in wooden deckchairs on the waterfront in the quaint Old Town in Alexandria, we took the metro out to Virginia for the day to explore.

The kit contained a pack of Ephemera (Pink Paislee, Paige Evans Truly Grateful), and the Bazzill needed to make the layout.

I added some Distress Ink around the outside edge of the Bazzill to soften it. Using a piece of paper from the Truly grateful collection I had in my stash I made a journalling block. I added cross stitch to one of the paper pieces in the pack using 6 strands of DMC embroidery floss. Some pieces I glued to the page others I added a little dimension by using foam tape.

A good day at the crop.

Sizzix Frame die & Bigz Alphabet Die - Block Talk

Carta Bella - Old World Travel - Part II

Please see the Papermaze blog for the second of my two projects using Carta Bella 'Old World Travel' collection.
I have been using this collection to create a series of heritage layouts about my great grandfather Frederick Henry Holder and this one follows on from the previous one and shows him in his back garden in uniform.

Frederick worked for the railway for a total of 49 years, ending his working life in December 1927 as Foreman Porter at Bickley Station, near Bromley. He came here from Cannon Street where he had previously worked for five years.

I used many of the same products as I used for the first layout:
Bazzill in Truffel
From the Old World Travel collection - World Traveller, Post Cards, Border Strips and Dear To Me papers
Ephemera pack, Element Sticker sheet and Enamel Dots
Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Inks.
Bo Bunny Soirée Buttons
'Engraver' Alphabet Stickers by Prima
Hemp Cord
Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection rubber stamps - Wildflowers
Versafine Black onyx pigment ink pad

Although not designed as a double layout, I think they will look good together in the album, side by side.
