Crop

Had a really Lovely day at Jill's Crop today (Cardinal Colours), surrounded by great friends and so many shades and varieties of Bazzill Basics Card stock it's unbelievable. I was able to buy the two most recent collections from Basic Grey.

I love both the new ranges now in my stash. Eskimo Kisses and Indian Summer. I also had the Basic Grey newsletter delivered into my email box today and need to take a closer look, but love the sketch for this month.

All these papers are so versatile. The Eskimo Kisses may be for Christmas but there are many papers in the collection which could be used at other times too. Both colour ranges are beautiful. Can't wait to get started on these papers.

While at Jill's crop I worked on a LO for the Mojo holder and am pleased to be a few weeks ahead in case I get help up one week with work and family things. It was a LO of my great nephew, Oliver. However it will be about two weeks before I can share that one. I also did another LO for the Hollywood Album - I know I said it was finished but this completes the blank back page of the album, and Shows Catherine in Hollywood itself. She (along with all the dancers) was not able to go earlier in the week, as she had dance lessons. So we arranged to take them all there on the last morning before our flight home. We couldn't take the girls all the way to LA and not take them to Hollywood!! I still have some photos from Disney and Universal which I may scrap and add to this album later.

I used a Scrapahloix kit from last year, one of the 'second kits of the month' the papers are from Making Memories 'Passport range. The letter stickers are from Marjoline Bastine.

I also started on a third LO today which I will finish off at home, this one is for baby Hannah.

Learn Something New Every Day: (LO to follow)

Today I learnt (or should I say was reminded) that I have a wonderful circle of scrapbooking friends who meet at Jilly's once a month. It may take an hour and a half to drive to Jill's, but it is well wort the time and effort every month.

My addiction to Basic Grey continues with the latest papers.

It's good to finally get around to using a kit I purchased a year ago!

Getting ahead with the Mojo Holder LO's is always a rewarding feeling.

Hollywood Album

Yesterday a Jilly's crop I finished the last LO (maybe, could still do more!) for my Hollywood Album and so updated my slide show of this event.
More Basic grey papers - Granola this time. Another page map. Scenes of Venice Beach and Muscle Beach visited on the last morning before we headed for the airport and home.

Mamma Mia!

A Layout to record our fantastic night out - the opening night of Mamma Mia in Hollywood at the Pantages Theatre on 7th April this year.

I was unsure about what papers to use again as the colours of the photos and tickets were such a mixture and a bit dark. Played around with lots of ideas but Emily suggested red. So out came the Basic Grey (BG) 'Off Beat' collection and the rest is history as they say!

I used 'Alternative' for the background, the red is 'Peculiar', the stripe is 'Easy Going' and the blue is 'Light Hearted'. I also used the BG Element Stickers fore tiny tags. For the title I needed something with four M's and three A's, not easy in the absence of any of my die cutting devices! These BG rubon letters were just the thing! I started off with a Pagemap from April '09. The ribbon was in mys stash.

Chinese Theatre

Here is a double scrapbook page I have worked on this week. knew I wanted to use Basic Grey Ambrosia papers right from the start, but when I went to my stash I found I did not have two sheets the same and one of the patterned pieces was a bit smaller than I intended to use. However I worked my way around it and took photos at each step of the way, so thought I would share how I got to the finished result with you all.

1. I had a Basic Grey (BG) page map I really liked stored for a DLO (double Lay Out), this was perfect for the number and orientation of photos I intended to use. However I did not have enough sheets of BG Ambrosia 'Clementine' for a DLO, so I got two sheets of plain white 12" x 12" paper (the type you find inside the protective sleeves in a scrapbooking album. I used these as a base, then cut the one sheet of 'Clementine' into four strips 12" x 3".

2. I inked the edges of all four strips with black chalk ink and stuck to the top and bottom of both sheet of white card.

3. Taking one sheet of 'Entice' cut in half to make two pieces 12" x 6", ink as before and stick between the orange pieces. Take the 'Tangy' paper (again I only had a small amount left, but at least it was 12" long). Using the Stamin' Up scalloped punch make two strips 12" x 1/2".

4. Stick the 'Tangy' strips to the bottom of the 'Entice' panel.

5. I wanted to cut the big circle from 'Chutney' but only had a piece 12" x 10" but noticed the top of the circle would be covered by the journalling strip so cut a circle using a dinner plate approx. 11" in diameter, with the top bit missing! This was also inked with black and stuck into place on the LHS (Left Hand Side) of the LO (Lay Out).

6. The journalling strip was cut from a piece of 'Citrus' cut 6" wide and torn off at about 9". This was inked and stuck down to the LHS as shown.

7. Now for the photos, I used four pictures 6" x 4". TheyAdd Image were all inked. The first was stuck down 2 1/2" from the top and 5 3/4" in from the right on the LHS of the LO. Then the second was butted up close to the right of the first, it overlaps the right side of the page.

8. The second photo was cut along the edge of the first page with a craft knife and ruler, so that it would continue onto the RHS of the LO. Line the photo up so it continues across the two pages.

9. Working on the RHS of the LO, add the last two photos, butting the third against the second and so on.

10. Now for the title and a little trick I have worked out for using letter stickers to ensure they end up in the right place first time without ruining your papers! It also ensures the spacing is correct to fit in the place you want to use them. I use a piece of acetate cut to the shape I want the letters to be placed in, here I wanted them in a straight line, but this works well for a circle or any other shape. Choose the letter stickers and place them on the very edge of the acetate, with just a tiny amount of the bottom of the letters on the acetate. arrange the letters for the word or whole title depending on you chosen arrangement. Here I just needed one word at a time.

11. Now transfer the acetate and word to the LO and place in desired position, when happy stick the top of the letters down.
Then slip the acetate out of the way and stick down the bottom of the letters. The other word which was actually the first word was added later in he same way, curling the first letters of each word around one another.

12. For the flowers I used a template from the Technique Tuesday - Fundamentals of Flowers tiles set. I cut flowers from scraps of Citrus', 'Rind' and 'Zest'. These were all inked and curled with scissors. On the LHS I used half a flower in two colours, and attached to the left of the 'Citrus' Journalling panel. On the RHS the whole of two flowers was used at the bottom of the LO. The centres of both flowers was created using gold seals purchased in Jilly's (Cardinal Colours) sale. All that remains is to add the Journalling on the 'Citrus' panel next to the first photograph.

My finished LO shows four photographs of Grauman's Chinese Theatre - A movie theatre on Hollywood's walk of fame. Opened in 1929. It has since been home to may premieres, parties and Academy Awards. Four million visitors come annually to see the stars' hand and footprints in the concrete blocks in the forecourt. The theatre is 90' high with magnificent coral pillars topped with iron masks. A 30' dragon carved from stone stands between the pillars.

Kodak Theatre

More Fancy Pants paper, this time I'm using them for a scrapbook page. I had this photo of the Kodak Theatre from the outside and a postcard of the inside as we were not allowed to take photos inside. The colours of these two pictures were a bit drab, so I went for brightening the whole effect with some Fancy Pants papers. I was not sure if the colours worked at first but I think it's growing on me!

I used Emma and Noah papers from the Sweet Pea line and My Sweetie from the Floral Chic line. A Page Map from March 2009. Some of the blossoms were from Jilly and others were cut with various punches. The centres were created with brads form a mixture of places. The letters are from American Crafts. So another page for the Hollywood album completed.

Hollywood Blvd.

Today I scrapped another page for the Hollywood Album, this double layout features the day we visited Hollywood Blvd, the theatres, the shops, restaurants and shops.

I used Basic Grey Urban Couture papers, lots of photos and stars!

Here is a card I made for my friend Angela (Sophie's Mum) using some smaller bits of Urban Couture which is her favourite paper of all time. I also used stamps from Crafters Companion. stamped the numbers several times onto different sections and designs of paper, cut the out separately and stuck them to the base to make each of the patches.

Not such a good day weather wise today, so we did some gardening at the house and then went to the cinema to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Followed by dinner in Frankie Benny's

Santa Monica

I have scrapped some photos of Santa Monica today. I used some old Chatterbox papers I had stored away. They are double sided and I was able to make full use of both sides of all three papers. The papers are Pool House - paisley / blue, dots / orange and stripe / sand. I applied a My Mind's Eye overlay over the main photo, from the Bohemia line. The letters for the title are cut using the Boxed Brush Sizzlets alphabet.

The LO started out as a Page Map form October 2008, but ended up quite different.

My jouraling reads: " Emily on Santa Monica Beach. Our first view of the Pacific Ocean! 3rd April 2009", and the quote reads: "We don't remember days.... we remember moments." by Cesare Pavese.

The main photograph shows Emily, I interrupted her photographic session to take a picture of her.

Wow, it's here!

The new Basic Grey is finally in my hands! Had a great day a Jillybeans Crop (Cardinal Colours), where my collection packs were waiting for me! I think the June Bug is so much nicer than I expected. The first two pictures show the June Bug collection, as its double sided, it needed two photos to show it off!).

Love the Lemonade too, and can't wait to make a start with it all. I was still on the pain killers on Saturday so Linda kindly drove us to Jill's although it was my turn really (Thanks so much Linda x). I didn't achieve much scrapping but it was lovely to get together with my scrapping friends for a few hours. It was also great to see Ali, who I have not seen since the Scrapaholix trip to Florida in 2005.

The next picture is the lovely Lemonade Collection.
The Basic Grey newsletter dropped into my e mail box on Saturday too.

I won the raffle at Jill's and this is my prize which I am looking forward to making a start with. As soon as I feel a bit better I plan to do some scrapping.

This is a double LO I made at Jill's crop on Saturday. It shows the two Limos we used while in LA, 18 of us travelled in the first one to Santa Monica and back. The second one was able to take all 27 of us to Universal Studios on the first Saturday we were there. Then as we had time to spare on the second Saturday, so we hired it again for a round trip to Venice Beach, Beverley Hills, Hollywood and back to the hotel in time to get a coach to the airport. They were both amazing and the girls and us mums had a wonderful time.

I used Bazzill Cardstock from Jill's wonderful wide range and a selection of Sassafralass from Vanessa at Paper Maze, Serendipity 'Robotics' line. I worked from a Page Map for the LHS and then reversed the look for the RHS. The LHS has a pocket at the bottom left which holds several more photographs of our outings. The black velvet lettering is from Making Memories. I don't know where the brown letter stickers came from other than my sticker drawer!

Universal Studios, Basic Grey & Scenic Route.

Here are some of the pages I have created for the album of our visit to California back in April. I have had great fun making these, most of them I made while at Debden with the Blossom Babes (UKS social group).

This is the title page for this section of my Hollywood Holiday Album. I used Basic Grey Granola papers and element stickers.

'Wisteria Lane' is a DLO created using Basic Grey's new Wisteria papers and lots of Bazzill card stock. I was fascinated by all these colourful houses and wanted to create a LO with them all, Page Maps provided the prefect sketch too. I painted the dragonflies with H2Os, the chipboard letters were painted with acrylic paint, then stamped over with BG swirly stamps. This LO was accepted for the BG gallery.

'Water World' was created with Marrakech Basic Grey papers, the colours were just perfect for the water and all the rusty metal work. I added some metallic fablon, ghost letters treated with alcohol inks, and some silver thickers letter stickers from American Crafts.

'The Simpson's Ride' - The family popped out to pose with the girls just as we were walking by. Here Homer is messing up Lisa's hair! Using the Cricut for the lettering I tried to recreate the sign for the ride. I used lots of Bazzill card stock and Scenic Route patterned papers. We all enjoyed this new ride.

'Dora The Explorer' - I just loved this picture of my little (big 17 year old) girl with this big (little) girl Dora. The colours are lovely and just perfect for these Scenic Route papers.

More Scenic Route and this time 'Shrek', seen here with Catherine and her friends Maria and Lisa. We were so lucky that despite being the weekend before Easter, the park was not too busy and we could get some good shots.

For the 'Mystery Machine' I used Scenic Route papers from a variety of different lines. I cut the lettering on the Cricut and the design was based on a page map sketch for April '09

Thanks for taking a peek.
