DeLovely

The third class I attended at Jill's Cardinal Colours retreat was to create this colourful layout designed and taught by the lovely Laura, using DeLovely papers from Cosmo Cricket.

The kit had loads of lovely stash, including 3 12x12" sheets double sided papers:

There was also a Sharpie pen for writing on photographs, buttons, Thickers foam alphabet stickers in pink and these
Embellished Butterflies by Jenni Bowlin.

The idea was to use a 12x6" photo with plenty of 'white' space for journalling straight onto the photo (scary stuff!!). We were asked to cut the beautiful papers into various sized strips and then decorate them with patterned scissors or border punches.  We had great fun doing this once we go over the shock of slicing up the lovely papers. The papers were arranged to the left of the bright yellow bazzill cardstock, and trimmed where they overhung the edge. Then the photo was stuck on top and mores strips were arranged to overlap the sides of the photo here and there.

The letter stickers were used for the title and date and were highlighted with the Sharpie. I used one element from the sheet, but the pretty butterflies didn't really fit my theme.
This photo is of my daughter Catherine when we travelled to Canada in March 2003 to do the Maple Leaf Trail. One day the coach stopped so we could view Montreal from this high point. She had a great time playing in all that snow. I think this holiday is one the children will always remember, as much if not more fun than seaside holidays, as they had never seen so much snow!
