Robert & Elaine

For the second layout from the Merly kit I scrapped a photo of my brother, Robert and his wife Elaine on their wedding day in 2012.

This also involved stitching, and I used the machine to make holes around the paper before hand stitching with the DMC stranded cotton provided.

I used a different Martha Stewart punch around the page set to Chrissie Tingey of Merly Impressions.
The patterned papers used are from the Kaisercraft 'Secret Garden' collection. 

I cut my flowers on the Cricut and the Four Seasons cartridge, inked them with Distress Ink and added flat-backed pearls. The pre-cut vines were supplied in the kit.

I used some old Provo Craft letter stickers for the date, and some new Basic Grey letter stickers. These were white and dies with Distress Ink.

I added the rhinestones supplied.

Mirror, Mirror ...

... on the wall! - A birthday card made for my friend Linda, who has a birthday on Tuesday.  We are celebrating today at our monthly crop.

I used a white blank card measuring 8" x 8". The papers are from Bo Bunny's Prairie Chic collection I stamped this image form Loralie Designs on to card and cut the image with a Sizzix die. This was coloured with promarkers and Stickles.

The Mirror was made with gold and silver Miri card and another Sizzix die and lots of flat-backed-gems. My greeting is stamped with a greeting from Lili of the Valley and mounted on punched circles. Lots of inking went on with distress inks.

I went to town with flat-backed-pearls and Liquid Pearls. I tied a big broad pink ribbon around the bottom of the card. 'Linda' is made with some Provo Craft stickers I had in my stash.

Mojo Monday - Kraftin' Kimmie - Graduation Card

Andrew asked me to make a graduation card for his friend Aisha. I was looking for some inspiration when I found this sketch challenge on the Mojo Monday blog via the Kraftin' Kimmie blog.

 

 

I used some papers from the Lakeside collection by Kaisercraft, black and white Bazzill, a pearl, some Provo craft alphabet stickers and some silver glittery AC Thickers. I used a Sizzix die Tessa Tassel stamp from Moonlight Whispers (Kraftin' Kimmie). The image was coloured with my Promarkers.

Frame that Family!

At our recent Cardinal Colours Crop, I took the talented Anita's Family Frame class.
It made a lovely change from making a layout. We used this white wooden frame measuring 11" x 9.5". Anita provided some swirly stamps and black Staz-On to stamp on the 'Family' cut out section of the frame, which helped to make the word stand out.

It is rare to get a picture of all of our family together these days now that Andrew, Catherine and Emily are all away at Uni. This photo was taken at my nephew's wedding back in July this year.

The lovely papers are My Minds Eye and the Lost and Found II collection, they are double sided and extremely glittery. I used some old Provo Craft letter stickers to add the date. We made paper spiral roses from left over scraps and added some flat backed gems to finish the frame off.

Wedding Invitations

My Nephew Mark is getting married to Vicki on 23rd July this summer and they asked me to make their wedding invitations. So the production line has been in progress making over 80 invitations.

I purchased tons of Bazzill card stock in burgundy and cream from Jill at Cardinal Colours. I cut the card and rounded the corners.

The cream card on top has been run through the Cuttlebug with a swirl embossing folder.

Mark and Vicki's initials are cut from Bazzill using the Storybook Cartridge for the Cricut.

Inside the wording has been printed in burgundy onto cream paper and the envelopes are cream to match.

A few more cards

Made a few more Christmas cards yesterday. No matter how many I make and / or buy I always need a few more!

Some with the Cricut Christmas Cartridge and some with some Patchwork Pals stamps. Others are with Woodware stamps. Good fun.

'Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word!'

'Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word' is the song Catherine and her team danced to, dressed in this flowing blue dress. It was part of the Disco Inferno show back in June.




I used Basic Grey June Bug papers, from Cardinal Colours. Was really drawn to the bright colours in this collection, but for this LO I used these beautiful blue through turquoise colours. The flowers are paper from a pack by Woodware. The title was made using Linda's brand new, shiny Circut Create (thanks Linda)!

Party Animals!

Some time ago I posted about buying some lovely children's quilt fabric from Quilter's Haven.
Today I finally made some cards with that fabric. Children's birthday cards ready for the next few kid's birthdays in our family.

Here's how I went about it:
Gather the fabric pieces, an 8x8" card (Craftwork Cards), bondaweb, iron, and a sewing machine, with black thread. I made a template for the size I wanted to the finished squares and another for the bondaweb size.

Cut out the square design and iron.

Cut a square of Bondaweb, using the template, this will be slightly samaller than the fabric square.

Iron bondaweb into position on the back of the fabric square.

In pencil mark desired finished size using template, on back of fabric.

Trim design and bondaweb to finished size along pencil lines.

Remove backing paper from Bondaweb.

Iron design onto the front of a 8"x8" card.

Using a zig-zag stitch and black thread, machine stitch around all four sides of the design.

Take the top threads back through to the back of the card with a needle.

Tie ends in a knot at the back.

Return to the front of the card and add a greeting or name with letter stickers. I used Doodlebug Designs here.

Picking colours from the design, take the itinial letter (American Crafts, Thickers) of the animal and the child and mount on a small piece of card. Ink the edges.

Mountthis one a second piece of coloured card slightly bigger than the first and ink the edges again.

Then add to a piece of black card slightly bigger again. Add detail to match the pattern on the design in white gel pen. Add to the card with 3D foam pads.

Add smaller lettering with provo craft letter stickers.

For the first card I cut the greeting with QuicKutz Moxi alphabet.

The Finished Apron

Just a quick entry for today, travelled back from Suffolk and lots of other jobs to do after two weeks away. - two loads of washing now dry and the food cupboards, fridge and freezer now full.

Here is the apron finished off as a gardening card for Marion. I mentioned this in my blog post a couple of days ago. Started off using left overs of Cosmo Cricket 'Early Bird' papers, and a Horseshoe Craft stamp.
I used garden string for the apron strings, and several QuicKutz dies for the tools and flowers.
All attached to a Craft Creations card inked around the edges. Letter stickers from Provo Craft.

Apron Strings Contest

Remember my post about the Apron Strings contest on the Page Map Blog? Well here is my entry (above) and the original sketch (below).

The idea as to use the sketch with summer as the theme and any papers or embellishments.

I chose this photo of myself at age 7 in the garden at home, Surrounded by the roses my parents grew. The papers I picked are from Cosmo Cricket's (CC) Early Bird line. I also used a sheet of Basic Grey (BG) 'Lady Kate's Roses' from the Stella Ruby Collection as a border. The colour worked and the title of the paper was by coincidence so appropriate!!

Here is a close up of the larger flowers cut from the Farmer's Market papers, I cut several different size flowers within circles, stitched on buttons with embroidery floss over the existing pattern on the paper, two threads into each hole on the button. Then I went round again and made a french knot it the end of each stitch on the paper. I added some heart pins in coordinating papers.

For the smaller flowers, I cut two blooms from the Sunrise paper. These were curved with scissors and stuck down with a 3D pad under each petal but not in the centre, then I pulled the centre down tight to the LO by stitching on with a tiny button.

My main title was added with American Crafts Thickers in leaf fabric finish, I added smaller lettering with Provo Craft letter stickers. If anyone knows where to buy these in the UK, please let me know. I'm running out and they are so useful.

The Journalling block was from the Early Bird Elements paper.


I added a few stitches between the BG paper and the CC paper to link it all in with the rest.

Then I had some of this lovely paper left over and decided to create a card, in the theme of Apron Strings, so using a Horseshoe Craft Stamp I created an Apron. Stamping the pockets again and cutting them out. I added them over the pockets on the original apron with 3D foam pads. The strings are just that 'string'! I plan to finish this card off with either a gardening or a cookery theme.
