The Magic of Christmas Eve

Here is the layout I made for the Scrapology Challenge this month. The project was based on this double layout sketch we chose from Jana Eubank.

I used a collection pack from My Mind's Eye called 'I Believe' available from Jill at Cardinal Colours. I picked two sheets of 12"x12" Bazzill Bling cardstock in red.

I cut narrow strips in green and trimmed them with the Martha Stewart holly border punch. I added this along the bottom of the the diagonal stripe paper. I added a few dots of liquid Pearls in red for berries.

The journalling blocks were made by cutting one of the die cut shapes into two and adding half to each page. The Title is created with American Craft Thickers in glittery red. The small letter tiles are stickers left over from another layout. I added the journalling detail by hand, and decorated the blocks with red gems. The one 4"x6" portrait photo was mounted on mint paper leaving a wide border at the bottom. I attached ribbon and a charm.

There was a lot of paper left after making the double layout so I made mini album too. I will share these with you later in the month, when I have taken some photographs.

I hope you will have a go at this challenge and share your layout with us on Scrapology.  The prize for this months challenge will be announced in a few days.

The photos were taken of my great nephew Jamie, at our house Christmas eve 2005. He was really taken with the nativity scene, and loved playing with the animals.

Happy Birthday Mum!

Happy birthday to my dear Mum. I made this card for her using this stamp from Stamping Bella.

I stamped her with Memento ink pad onto white digital card from Craftwork Cards. Then she was coloured in with Promarkers from Cardinal Colours they now have all colours in stock.
I punched her out using a large scalloped circle punch.
The papers are more of my precious stock of Scenic Route. I cut the scalloped mat (brown patterned paper) on the Cricut with the Storybook Cartridge. I cut the shaped card using the Wild Card Cartridge.
(pink patterned paper).  I added a lace trim to the circle, and lots of Ranger Stickles and Perfect Pearls in pink ad white dots. The whole circle is raised up on 3D foam pads. Then I added decorative heart pins to complement the hair decorations.
The letter stickers were left over from my Echo Park - Life is Good layout.

The card open to show the shape cut by the Cricut.

Past Times Fairy

I was commissioned by Barbara to make a card with a fairy on it, similar to one I made earlier. It needed to have the words 'Remembering Past Times' as well as a birthday greeting. The fairy's wings had to be 3D.

The story is that Barbara goes away once a year with her friend Jen, who she has known for many years. Jen's husband has Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease, so she is a full time carer. When he goes into respite care Barbara and Jen go away on holiday. Jen collects garden fairy statues, so they always seek out the nearest Past Times store to see what they have.  I hope they are both pleased with the result. I also hope you have a good birthday Jen and that the next holiday is a good break for both of you.

I used Basic Grey 6x6" pad of Lemonade papers, the card and the card candy is from Craftwork Cards. I printed the words onto card in deep pink ink on the computer and cut them out with my Stampin' Up punch. The scalloped surrounds for the words is also a Stampin' Up punch.  I used chalk inks, blossoms, stickles glitter, perfect pearls from my stash. The image is from Stamping Bella - Agnes Ketto stamp. I used my Promarkers of course to colour her in.

Animal Antics!

The theme for the week 60 Passion for Promarker challenge is ANIMALS.

This image was stamped using one of my cat loving friend, Linda's stamps. The image is from Penny Black. The papers are left overs from my 3 X Trouble layout, and are from Fancy Pants, Rusted Sun collection. I added Perfect Pearls, gems and pearls. The Greeting is from a set of stamps by Stanpin' Up.

Street Life

I spent a good day with my friends at Jill's crop, at Cardinal Colours on Saturday and made three layouts.  The first is this one called 'Street Life'.

Another layout for Catherine's dancing album. The photos were taken last summer when she was in 'Disco Inferno' at The Bob Hope Theatre with Liz Burville's Performing Arts Centre. One of the dances she took part in was 'Street Life'. The photos were taken in our garden with Catherine dressed as she would be for the danc. The scenery was very green, and did not work with the title or the papers I had selected to match her outfit. I decided to try cutting her out from two different photos and mounting her onto a piece of patterned paper. I think it worked well in the end.  The papers were from Cosmo Cricket, a kit I purchased from Cardinal Colours a while ago. The papers are double sided and the patterns were in a range from peach to orange and lilac to purple. The kit contained a sheet of die cut shapes and the letters spelling out 'Life' which was coincidental as well as convenient! I used some of the shapes on the layout together with shapes cut on the Cricut, using my new Storybook cartridge as well as the Sweet Treats cartridge. The word 'Street' was cut with the Lyrical Letters cartridge.

The journalling block was also from the die cut shape sheet. I added Prima flowers, elaborate floral brads from Making Memories (I think) and some orange self adhesive dots from Paperchase. Lots of glitter added with Stickles from Ranger Inks.

Scrapaholix January Kit

I'm working backwards with theses kits! - Well not really, I missed the January Scrapaholix club and so I am catching up. Decided to use this kit to scrap this photo of Mum, Dad and me taken just before we left home for my wedding. The papers and letter stickers are Bo Bunny. I used the Crafters Workshop swirl template that came with the kit and I used this with my Liquid Pearls (Ranger Inks) in both Petal Pink and Baby Blue. I had to do one swirl at a time leaving it to dry inbetween, so this layout was the longest in the making!

Ooh La La

I have been busy working on the November kit for Scrapaholix. I have made two layouts and still have plenty of goodies left in my kit for another layout or several cards. This months kit features the use of cork on your page as the technique. The papers are from My Mind's Eye - Ooh La La for him range.

This first page features my daughter Emily's goblin, Magpie. Please see earlier posts here and here. I used a sketch from Pencil Lines as my inspiration for the shape of this layout. There is a lot of distressing on this layout bu crumpling, sanding and inking. I used sizzlets and the Side Kick to create the letters. The frames and swirls are raised up with 3D foam pads and I enhanced all the little dots on the paisley swirls with white opal (from a previous kit) and mint green Perfect Pearls and Cinnamon Stickles all by Ranger Inks.

Garden raffia finished off the natural effect started with the cork and the colour scheme.

In my second layout I have used an old photograph of Alan's grandfather Ernest Frank Cooper, born 1875. The photo was twice the size so I had to scan it in two halves and stitch it together.
If you look closely it has been heavily enhanced with pen and ink at some stage. Ernest lived in Bedfordshire and was a farm labourer.

For the layout I used tho sizzlets again and cut the title and the photo corners. Played around flipping the double sided paper and used lots of the paper embellishments.

November's kit contains:

8x8" sheet of cork
My Mind's Eye - Oh La La
2 x For Him Papers (double sided)
1 x For Him accessories sheet
4 sheets Cor'dinations card stock -
2 x Vanilla Cream
1 x Forest
1 x February Gold

Please see the Scrapaholix site for details of the November crops.
