Peartree Cutfiles and Dotty About Flair both have a challenge to use lots of layers, so I created this layout to fit both challenges. I used three photos taken by my Dad, at Corisande back in 2000.

52 Christmas Crackers - Week 35

My Christmas card for week 35 which called for 'Januty Angles'. So we could tilt the background papers or your card sentiment, or even a full out diagonal on the card design! Please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog for details of the challenge.

Here is my card:

I had been sorting out some old Craftwork Cards bits and pieces and found this embossed topper. Keeping it very simple I decided to use the white and gold topper together with some old Scenic Route papers and some Card Candi (also from Craftwork Cards).

Cake CSI #72

The famous 21st birthday cake needs to be recorded! - so it now features on two layouts (one in black and white which I can't show you yet, but will be revealed in June), and this one I have created for this week's CSI challenge (#72).

 

Here is what was required to crack solve the mystery this time (more details on the site):

This is what I chose to include:

The Scheme - I used all the colours
Krafted - Kraft Bazzill as by background
Bottle Green - in the Scenic Route and My Mind's Eye papers, Chalk Mist on background and the flowers (which were grey - an old Prima purchase which was gathering dust!), also the distress stain and ink used on letters (Basic Grey Chipboard alphabets stickers, painted with acrylic paint and sprayed, then inked) and numbers (American Crafts Foam Thickers).
Yellowed Pages - from the MME papers.
Olive Oil -  Also from the same papers and the leaves.
Toasted Baguette - From the papers.

Evidence - I have used:
A doily.
Book page print on the Tim Holtz paper used to create the heart.
Labels cut from the MME (The Sweetest Thing - Tangerine) Event / Place / Date details and used for hidden journalling.
Leafy vines - the Prima vine.
Drawing - I drew in white gel pen round a lacy border I made with a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page punch set and an sheet of spare 12" x 12" paper. I also used this as a template to draw the same pattern around the heart. I drew in some black lines free hand around the border and the heart.
Metal - Book plate Tim Holtz for the '21'.
Kraft Background - Kraft Bazzill - spritzed (chalk mists) and splats (distress stains) and doodled on.rote my journalling on a series of stacked labels, cut from 'Tangello' Greetings Paper MME. They are tucked under the photo and can be pulled out to read.

Testimony - Write your journalling on a series of stacked labels.
My journalling (written on the labels and tucked under the photo) tells of the day we celebrated the triplet's 21st birthday - 31.03.13. The photo only shows the girls as Andrew is away in America.  We were at my brother's flat and he made a lovely lunch for us all (he is also waiting for his lovely Elaine to get home from Brazil). The cake I made was in 7 layers, each one a different colour of the rainbow, so it was very tall, and covered in a white icing. I also made a second lactose free cake for Emily.

A Canvas for Dylan and Daisy

My sister asked me to make a canvas each for her friend Geraldine's children Dylan and Daisy.
Here is what I came up with. I started with two 12" x 10" canvases, and painted them ivory, when dry I inked the edges.

They both use papers from the same four collections, The Farm House Company, Basic Grey Basics, Scenic Route and Simple Stories Bingo Cards.

 

I made a group of three pinwheels on Daisy's canvas and three rosettes on Dylan's. The pinwheels were cut using the Cricut and the 3D Pinwheel Cartridge. The rosettes were cut by hand using various widths of 12" strips. I tied each button with coloured twine.

I varied the sizes and double sided patterned papers. I added brads to the centre of each pinwheel and buttons to the rosettes. 

I cut both names using the Cricut and the Storybook cartridge with a shadow, then I glossed the letters with Glossy Accents.

I added a charm with blue twine to the base of Daisy's photo...

...and a Micky Mouse paperclip with bunting for Dylan.
The bunting was made with chipboard flags covered with paper and inked. they were joined with red twine.

 I added a spiral heart paperclip to Daisy's canvas. 

There is also some tiny scraps of Kaiser Crafts Sweet Nothings paper here, edged with a Martha Stewart punch and as a mat for the photo. 

This also shows the bingo card from Simple Stories.

I added a tiny pair of chipboard Wellies to Daisy's canvas painted and inked.

I hope my sister, her friend and Daisy and Dylan like the canvas Christmas gifts. 

I had fun making them.

Happy Birthday Zak - Shore Thing

It was Zak's birthday a few weeks ago and so I chose this Docraft's Square Urban, Michael Powell stamp called 'Shore Thing' to create him a card.

I stamped the image in brown ink onto Kraft Bazzill, and coloured it with oil colour pencils. The patterned papers are Scenic Route, the edges were distressed and inked. I have used Lili of the Valley greeting stamp, and various punches (SU and Woodware).

This is the stamp and I'm looking forward to colouring this in many different ways. I also have a few others in this range, including a couple I had for my birthday (thanks Linda).

Celebrate!

During the weekend retreat with Cardinal Colours, I did a Stampin' Up cards class with Zoe.

Here is what I made in the class:

... and the big surprise was this 2" x 2" x 2" gift box:

Since the retreat I made these red,white and blue versions with some of the left overs, white Bazzill cardstock and  Scenic Route paper scraps.

Zoe did a special evening make and take for those of us who couldn't fit it in during the day time sessions. The session was to make an owl key ring.

Here is my 'Owl', I made him into a fridge magnet.

Muddy Footprints on the mantelpiece

Catherine asked me to make a dinosaur card for George's birthday this year, she found one like this in a Cricut Magazine.  She wanted him spotty. We selected some Scenic Route papers and here he is posing in the flower pot. If  he leaves a trail of muddy prints on the mantelpiece George - I apologise!

I used the Create a Critter Cartridge with the Cricut and some Bazzill Cardstock, Stickles glitter was added to the large spots. Baker's twine holds the greeting label in place round the Dino's neck.

This second card was made to the same design using Basic Grey papers.

June Card Challenge on Scrapoogy -

The Scrapology card challenge for June has been set by Laura of That's Crafty.

Here is my card:

I used scraps of Scenic Route papers and a Sweet Pea tamp from That's Crafty coloured with Promarkers. I used a retro flower and a fern punch.and a large flat backed gem. There is lots of stickles to add glitter on the wings and dress too.

Montreal in the Snow

This is the layout I have made for the Scrapology February Scraplift Challenge. The original layout we scraplifted was created by Laura Buckingham and taught at the Cardinal Colours Seaside Retreat back in September (There is another retreat planned for this September and just a few places left if you are interested.)

This is the layout I made in Laura's class. I used a photo of my daughter Catherine when we were high up over Montreal surrounded by snow. I thought the colours were perfect for these papers.

I decided to sick with the theme and made one for my other daughter, Emily at the same spot, changing the papers to go with Emily's top. These papers are left overs of Scenic Route papers. I used a lot of different border punches for the paper strips, then added a strip of glittery snowflake ribbon and some Bazzill 'just the edge decorative strips. I threaded some finer ribbon through the strip near the bottom of the layout.  The title is American Crafts Thickers in a velvet finish, and the journalling is written straight onto the photo with a Sharpie Pen. Some stickles and gems and the layout is done!
