Happy 60th Birthday Hilary

Happy 60th Birthday to my dear friend Hilary, we have been friends since we were Girl Guides together back in the 1970's. Hilary Held a Tea Party at Bromley Court Hotel last Friday to celebrate. I made this card for her.

An 8" x 8" scalloped card base and a piece of paper cut to fit the front from my stash. Then I cut cups, saucers, cakes, biscuites, cherries, letters, words and numbers all cut from white card using Crafter's Companion dies. The silver spoons were also from CC, but cut from silver miri card.

I arranged the cakes etc. around the edges of the card and piled the cups in the centre under the 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY'  banner. 

All the die cut items were inked with Distress Ink in these colours.

Some of the letters have added sparkle, using Crystal Stickles., and Nuvo drops added to the cupcakes.

A Crazy Bird for George

IT's Geroge's birthday today and I made him a card with my new Crazy Bird stamps from Tim Holtz. I was lucky to be able to buy this set 2nd hand as they seem to be out of stock everywhere at present.

I had lots of fun with my first attempt. I stamped him onto watercolour paper cut him out and coloured him with Distress markers and a water brush. I stamped him again onto the patterned paper and stuck the cut out version over the top. I drew the hat with a fine sharpie marker, then coloured in the same way as the bird.

The card blank is 6" x 6", the patterned papers are from a 6" x 6" paper pad by Teresa Collins - Vintage Finds.

I made masks for the hills and the sun from scrap paper and used Distress Ink in Mustard Seed and Rusty Hinge.

I look forward to making more bird cards with these crazy guys!

Congratulations to Deborah and Tony

I was asked to make a wedding card and the brief was for Deborah and Tony for 23rd July, mulberry pink and white (ribbon supplied for colour match) and penguins! So I resorted to the Cricut Explore for help with penguins and found this cute pair on the Simply Charmed cartridge. I added veil, top hat and other accessories from the Create a Friend cartridge changing the sizes so everything would fit together.

The heart was also created with the Cricut with a shadow. The alphabet was from the 'Birthday Bash' cartridge.
I used Bazzill cardstock in mulberry and Avalanche, the patterned paper was from an old line in Basic Grey - Eva collection. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder on the white part of the hearts. I added a few pearls and and buttons, glitter and of course the ribbon.

I added some words to the inside as requested  'Wishing you a lifetime of happiness, joy & lots of lovely memories together. Congratulations on your wedding day'.

I made a box to contain the card using the same Bazzill I used to make the card.

1st Wedding Anniversary - Sarah and Gavin

52 Christmas Crackers - Week 18

Back with my Christmas card for this week's photo prompt challenge (For details of this challenge please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog)

Here are the elements I focused on (in case you were wondering!):

• The geometric pattern of the wall paper is reflected in the background - papers by Kasiercraft - 6" x 6" Christmas paper pad which was free with a magazine. 
• Random circle backgrounds - like the plates, - the baubles and the greeting - I used the Cricut Joys of the Season cart and altered the shape in The Cricut Craft Room. The greeting is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and a Lili of the Valley Christmas Sentiment.
• Bright pastel shades combined with a vivid colour for pop - I kind of ignored the actual colour scheme!!
• A touch of gold and mint - Gold in the bauble tops and the greeting surround, Mint in the velvet ribbon trim and the patterned paper on the baubles. 
• Pink and white stripes - the twine is pink and white striped.

I also used:

3D foam pads, double sided tape, blank card 6" x 6" made from kraft bazzill and Tea Dye Distress ink.

Here is my card
Cool Cat with rosy cheeks on a cushion!

I took my inspiration from the following elements of the photo.

• The geometric pattern of the wall paper - my background paper from My Mind's Eye - The Sweetest Thing collection
• The Cat - Cricut Paisley Cartridge
• The bright pastel shades from the image combined with a vivid colour of the cushion for pop - Bazzill cardstock
• A touch of gold and mint - Gold in the tiara and mint in the background pattern and sunglasses
• The sunglasses - also from the Paisley cartridge
• Tiny circles of the drawer knobs and items on the floor - gems

I also used Wplus9 - Basic Banners stamps

52 Card Challenge 2014 - Week 17

This week we have another sketch for inspiration. Please go to Kool Kitty Musings Blog for full details of the challenge.

My papers and stickers are from October Afternoon's Farm Girl collection.

I cut the lid off the large jar sticker and backed both pieces with card so they were no longer stickers. I stuck the jar down with 3D foam pads just around the edges leaving a slot from the top.

I then stuck the lid to a strip of card from another October afternoon paper for messages. This slips inside the jar with the lid back in place. I added the greeting sticker to the lid. I added the Raspberry jam, and flower stickers to the bottom left as accents to the main sticker. The scalloped strip is also from the sticker sheet.

I added a ribbon bow, glitter glue and liquid pearls.

I made another DT card for the Scrapology Freebies Challenge, This time I used a Square Pyrimage given away with Creative Cardmaking in Issue 38. I also used papers from the same magazine. These items were promoting Crafter's Companion - Popcorn's Pals papers and die cuts. I'm not really very fond of Pyrimage but thought I would give it a go for this challenge.

My sister is mad about cats and it was her birthday a few days ago, so I made this for her.

52 Card Cahllenge 2014 - Week 11

Take a look over on the Kool Kitty Musings Blog where you will find details of the challenge for week 11. Natty has noticed a lot of wedding pins on Pinterest recently and so this week we have been challenged to use the traditional wedding rhyme, and try to include all four elements in a card design. I worked on this at the Papermaze crop today.

So How well does my card fit with the rhyme?

• Something old - The inks are old Stampin' Up inks I have had for a few years.
• Something new - My new Wplus9 stamps to build the flower and vase.

52 Christmas Cracker Challenge - Week 7

This week is a colour prompt and we are working with a mix of cream/white, spearmint green, blues/aqua/turquoise.

This is my Christmas card:
 

I used a selection of papers including Doodlebug design patterned papers and embossed cardstock. The Cricut and the Winter Woodland cartridge. Tiny flat-backed pearls for eyes, peel-off greeting, Stickles, white gel pen and Promarkers.


Natty chooses a new desktop wallpaper calendar to add to her PC and phone/iPad each month, this month she has chosen from the designs over at Going Home to Roost . Natty selected their February desktop design and the colour prompt for the week.

Mothering Sunday Card

The challenge on Scrapology for making a card this month has been set by Krafty Karen who wants us all to make cards for a special lady in our lives. I have made a Mother's day card for my Godmother as my design team card.

I used cardstock and some patterned paper scraps to make this shaped card using the Cricut and the Country Life cartridge. I cut two shadows in brown to make the card base. The basic shape was cut in green to give me the leaves and stalks. Then I cut the jug in patterned paper and the flowers twice so I could off set them.

I inked the petals in pale pink and added yellow buttons to the centres with some green soft cotton thread to create large daisies.

My greeting is made with a Lili of the Valley sentiment stamp and Memento, yjo ws punched out with a Woodware circle punch and inked around the edges with pale pink. Next this was mounted with foam pads onto a green punched circle (Stampin' Up) and a white Woodware scalloped circle. All was tied in place with some green organza ribbon.

Thanks to this challenge, I'm ready nice and early for Mothering Sunday which is 30th March in the UK. Just as well my Godmother dosen't read my blog! I have another hidden away for my Mum, which I will blog on the day.

Natty chooses a new desktop wallpaper calendar to add to her PC and phone/iPad each month, this month she has chosen from the designs over at Going Home to Roost . Natty selected their February desktop design and the colour prompt for the week (see image below my card).  We have a mix of cream/white, spearmint green, blues/aqua/turquoise to play with.

I used the Cricut and the Create a Critter cart, together with papers from Doodlebug Design and Magnolia. A Lili of the Valley greetings stamp and Woodware circle punches. Some pale blue trim was added at the bottom for water.
Also used: White Gel Pen, Black Memento Ink, Distress Ink, Bazzill cardstock.

Wedding Day Card - Butterflies

I made a card for my sister to give her friends Lisa and James. She asked for butterflies and the colours ivory and burgundy. She had seen the card I had made for Gavin and Sarah back in the summer and wanted something similar but smaller.

I used dies and punches for the butterflies and cut them over the both colours, mounting the ivory over the burgundy each time. I glued them in the centres only so the wings could stand away from the page with the help of some 3D foam pads in some cases. Flat-backed pearls were added to the bodies.

I also used:
