Wedding Card for Nicola and George

Today is the wedding day of Nicola (my cousin's daughter) and George.

I made this 8" x 8" card for them.

I layered up white and pink cardstock, together with silver Miri card, the top embossed layer has a paisley pattern and is from doodlebug Designs Inc.
I cut the scalloped circles using the Cricut, and some digital card. The stamp is from Lili of the Valley and is stamped in Memento Ink and coloured with Promarkers.
The lettering with shadows cut using the Cricut and pink and white card, and lots of Stickles.
My flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts and the leaves are made with a Martha Stewart punch, green card and stickles.
I dded a butterfly from my stash.

The inside was decorated and another Lili of the Valley stamp used to create the greeting, but I forgot to photograph it!

I wish Nicola and George a very happy day today.

First and Last Guinness!

The first kit of a selection from the recent Merly Retreat. I was unable to go myself this year, but was able to purchase some of the kits (thanks to Chrissy and Linda).

I chose this one to do first with a photo from our recent trip to Dublin (the reason I was not at the retreat). On the day we arrived we walked around the city exploring and ended up in the Temple Bar area. Catherine tried a sip of Alan's Guinness and decided that one was was enough!

The original layout was designed by Ali Parris for Kaisercraft and uses the Happy Snaps Collection (papers and stickers) on Coconut cardstock. The Hexagon stamp was randomly stamped with Memento Ink. I added some Glossy Accents and a few gems to the camera.

This layout is not my usual style but quick and fun to create and I have plenty of papers left over to make another one or two.

Freda Edith

Following on from yesterday's post and the layout featuring Winifred, I am back with this month's Papermaze crop kit and Winnie's daughter - Freda. This layout was designed by Lou Collins.

Freda Edith Williams was born in 1916 to Henry David Williams and Winifred Freda Holder (My great aunt). Freda married Sydney Kingswood in 1946 and they had one son, John born 1949.

The kit includes:
Simple Stories - Hello Baby - Wood Veneer/Music paper
October Afternoon Daily Flash 'Snapshots paper
Dotted Swiss Grey Bazzill Cardstock

Available to use:
Kaisercraft Postal Clear Stamp
Tattered Angels 'Seven Seas' Chalkboard Mist

I added a title cut on the Cricut using the Billionaire cartridge.

Great to catch up with good friends and have the day crafting - I actually managed to completer two pages and start a third.

52 Card Challenge in 2014 - Week 23

This week the inspiration for the card challenge is in the form of a photo prompt chosen from Pinterest. For details please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog.

Week 23 - photo prompt
{Pinterest pin}

Her is my interpretation:

I kept with the colour scheme as far as I could. Using this teapot image from the Everyday Pop-up Cards cartridge and my new Cricut Explore. I made a big gold rimmed label shape for behind my image rather than in front as in the photo (The First Few Years Cartridge). I have access to a lot of cartridges I don't own as a free trial on the Cricut Design Space programme.

I used:
Patterned papers - Basic Grey - Nook and Pantry
Cardstock - Bazzill and Miri card.
Punches - Stampin' Up - large oval and scalloped oval
Stamp - Stampin' Up - Tea Shoppe
Card Blank - Craftwork Cards
Ink - Memento and Distress Ink
Other - Gems, 3D foam pads

A photo challenge this week has been chosen from Pinterest. For details of this challenge please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog

  • The Cat - Cricut Paisley Cartridge
  • The bright pastel shades from the image combined with a vivid colour of the cushion for pop - Bazzill cardstock
  • A touch of gold and mint - Gold in the tiara and mint in the background pattern and sunglasses
  • The sunglasses - also from the Paisley cartridge
  • Tiny circles of the drawer knobs and items on the floor - gems
I also used Wplus9 - Basic Banners stamps
Ranger Distress Ink - Broken Glass
Memento Ink - Tuxedo Black
3D foam pads and a card blank - 4" x 8"

So now I have a card for my cat loving friend Lesley who has a birthday later this month.

52 Christmas Crackers 2014 - Week 14

Back with my Christmas version of the Kool Kitty Musings challenge for week 14 with the photo inspiration prompt.

Details of this challenge can be found on the Kool Kitty Musings Blog.

A reminder of the prompt:Week 14 - photo prompt

Here are a few ideas from Natty to kick start creating thinking:
  • Clean and Simple design
  • Herringbone/chevron pattern
  • Muted/natural tones with one bold colour
  • Real wood effect background
  • Use a stencil/stencil techniques (original pic is created from a stencil)
I used:
* Patterned papers - K & Company 6" x 6" paper pad (Herringbone/chevron pattern - turned into irregular checkered pattern!, Muted/natural tones)
* Stickers - Anita's Dimensions Poinsettia and holly leaves - dimensional effect as stickers are only sticky in centre and have fold lines, they are pose-able (free with a magazine years ago). (with one bold colour)
* Greeting stamp - Lili of the Valley
* Punches - Woodware and Stampin' Up
* Inks - Memento and Distress Ink - Old Paper (Muted tones)
* Stickles - Silver to coordinate with the silver on the stickers.
* 3D foam pads
* Card Blank - Kraft Cardstock

Gingerbread House Fun - Under Construction!

My great niece and nephew - Jessica and Jamie came to see us at the beginning of February and we had fun building an (IKEA) gingerbread house and decorating it. Although J & J spent a lot of time mixing icing with different colours and flavours until some of them were inedible! I took a few pictures of the event and made a scrapbook page while away at crop weekend last weekend.

I used the Cricut to create the background shapes and the little house.

I used:
Patterned papers, Number Stickers & Element Stickers by Basic Grey - Hopscotch
Swirly Stamps by Basic Grey
Cardstock by Bazzill
Ink - Memento & Distress Ink
Letter stickers by American Crafts - Foam Thickers
Other - Flat-backed pearls, Liquid Pearls, Stickles

I was inspired by this page by Mitsue Iwata which I saw on the Basic Grey website some time ago.

Thanks for looking.
What shall we make next time J & J?
