Every Day Life

Here is another layout for the iNSD challenges, this one is for two different challenges:

Peartree Cutfiles 'Rainbow colours and Nuvo Drops'.

Paige Evans 'Scraplift' - I have included an image of the layout I have scraplifted, but I can't trace the creator. If you recognise the maker, please let me know.

Here is my layout with a photo from 1977 when colour Polaroid cameras were popular, my friend brought one to school, to record a few events of sixth form life.

"After the popular black-and-white prints came the peel-apart color prints in 1963, and non-peel-apart color prints followed in 1972. By 1977, the height of its popularity, Polaroid held two-thirds of the instant camera market, despite competition from Kodak."

I used a sheet of Smooth White Bazzill for the background. and flicked some Black Soot Distress Paint over the cardstock in the areas where the paper blocks will go.

From Vicki Boutin's Bold + Bright collection I cut some squares from the Picnic Blanket sheet, in a series of rainbow colours. I cur an extra oeange one, and turned this into a tag.

Will a collection of buttons, Card Candi, and other ephemera, I decorated each square, matching the colour scheme. I used a flair from Peartree Cutfiles. I cut phrases from
Simple Stories - For the Record - Just the Details paper.

The title is some old Cafe Rojo alphabet stickers from Basic Grey.

I finished off with a rainbow of different coloured Nuvo Drops.

Rainbow Day

This layout was made for the 2025 iNSD challenges on the Page Evans facebook page. The photos show my granddaughter at her Baby Sensory group back in January, and the theme of the week was rainbows. She wore her little rainbow dress, and there wer many rainbow activities to take part in.

For the page I used a sheet of Paige's patterend paper from an older collection, with a pale denim effect printed over it.

I worked the rainbows and clouds in six strands of DMC embroidery cotton.

The title was added with Doodlebug Designs, Alphabet Soup puffy letter stickers.

Kool Kiwi

Peartree Cutfiles are holding 'Pear it Up challenge for iNSD this year, where there are a series of challenges asking you to pair up two different techniques, cutfiles or embellishments. This one is in response to 'Hidden journalling and one or more flair'.

The photo shows Andrew on the doorstep, ready for school with Kool Kiwi. (the journalling is hidden under the photo, whith a pull tab. (please see below to read journalling).

I used papers (Undisturbed Brilliance), Acetate Assortments and Lasercut Wildflowers from the 49 and Market, Krafty Garden collection.
My title was cut using the Sizzix BIGZXL Handmade Alphabet and more paper from the collection.
The flair are from Peartree, I liked the globe to demonstrate the fact the gift of Kool Kiwi had travelled to us from the otherside of the world. I outlined each flair with some Jute twine.

The Journalling reads:
"Kool Kiwi

When Andrew, Catherine and Emily were in year 1 at school, their teacher; Miss Hunt went off on long term sick leave. There was no-one in the small school to take over teaching the class, so after a few weeks of being taught by the head teacher, Mr Vinall, a temporary teacher came from New Zealand.  Mr. Sparling was an instant success, and ended up teaching the class for two terms, moving up into year 2 with them. He was an excellent teacher and will always be remembered.

Mr Sparling taught the children many interesting things including much about life New Zealand and many Māori traditions. One day he introduced a system for rewarding achievement, effort or good behaviour. At the end of each day the child who stood out the most was allowed to take ‘Kool Kiwi’ home for the night. This was extremely popular and resulted in the children striving to ‘win’ the honour.

Kool Kiwi was a mascot for the New Zealand All Blacks. He was a soft toy rugby ball that unzipped and turned inside-out to become a kiwi dressed in rugby kit.  With three children in the class, he came home with us a few times.

The kids loved Kool Kiwi and Nan wrote to her sister in New Zealand telling her about the teacher and the toy. Sometime later the New Zealand cousins tracked one down and sent it to us, so we had our very own Kool Kiwi"
