Happy 90th Birthday Jean!

Today is Jean's 90th birthday! Her celebrations were held at the weekend and this is the card I was commissioned to make for her.

I used a whole selection of Crafter's Companion dies and papers to make this card. I inked the edges of all the die cuts with Distress inks. All mounted onto a 6" x 6" white card blank.

Wishing you a very happy birthday Jean.

Laboratory Birthday Card

I can now share Jack's birthday card, although his birthday was last week he didn't get his card until returning from holiday. As he is a pharmacist I thought the Laboratory Sizzix Thinlits die set from Tim Holtz was ideal to make Jack a card.

I used some scraps of Kaisercraft Basecoat papers for the background and for the shelving. The jars, liquids, labels, stoppers and bubbles were all cut from watercolour paper which I had coloured with various colour mixes using Distress Oxide Inks and water. some jars were stuck straight down to the card and others were raised up on 3D foam self adhesive pads.
The mortar and pestle were created using one of the liquid dies and the neck of one of the bottle dies.

Happy Birthday Jack.

Advent Calendar - Tiny Jars

Thanks to all my friends and family who saved their tiny jam jars for me. I have now finished the Advent Calendar I wanted to make with them, it's now complete and ready for 1st December.

The first job was to collect 25 mini jam jars and to clean them and soak off the labels.
Then I searched for a suitable box to present them in and found this Mache lidded box in Hobbycraft.

Then I gathered my Doodlebug Designs Inc. papers and stickers I already owned and purchased some more stickers and a 6" x 6" pad.

Each jar lid was painted with Humbrol Enamel Paint in a selection of colours to match the papers.

During the last few months I have been making jams and chutney, each time I made some I put some onto one of the tiny jars. I then filled the rest with sweets and other small gifts.

The jars were each decorated with a circle cut using a circle punch and a 0.5cm x 14.5cm strip of paper for the rim of the lid and a 2cm x 14cm strip to wrap around the jar.

The box was a little bigger than I needed, so I made a panel for the centre using chipboard and duct tape. It made somewhere to hide another gift too. Then I painted the box with Distress Paint before covering the box inside and out with the 12" x 12" papers.

Each jar needed a number and for these I chose wooden numerals from Hobbycraft and painted them with Distress Paints.

Then it was time to have fun with the Doodlebug stickers and Nuvo Crystal Drops!

The words 'Advent calendar were added to the lid with some glittery American Craft Thickers.

Entrance to Rohan Fanfare

For my second layout using the November Papermaze kit I picked out the musical elements and papers. It shows my daughter, Emily making her entrance to her wedding and records the music the couple chose for this part of the ceremony.

The new kit from Papermaze have a lovely selection of papers, Bazzill and embellishments all with an autumnal feel. For my first layout I have created a family tree. It shows my great grandparents and 14 of their children, dressed up for the wedding of the eldest child in 1913.

Distress Oxide Birthday Cards

Three cards to share today, all made with the bright rainbow colours of Distress Oxide Ink Pads.

The 6" x 6" card blank was inked with a blending tool around the edges, changing the colours as I worked around. Then I used a stencil by Echo Park Party Time - Birthday Candles and blended more colour through it onto a piece of watercolour paper cut a little smaller than the card blank.

I coloured another piece of watercolour paper with a rainbow of colour and then die cut letters and shapes using dies from Crafter's Companion. I attached pieces of Baker's Twine in various colours to look like they were attached to the baloons.

Happy birthday Mum, Jean and Sandra. xxx

Christmas Village

I had a great day yesterday at a Tando Creative workshop, led by Di Oliver and held at Albright Crafts of Diss.

Here is my finished village. We worked with MDF and Chipboard shapes precut and ready for building and painting with a selection of different medium. These included Distress Inks, fluid acrylics, Gesso, Snow Flux, crackle paint, antiquing cream and more.

I added some finishing touches at home. Sparkle was added to the numbers & snowflakes with Stickles. I also made the letters and berries shine with some Glossy Accents.

Thanks for a great workshop and I look forward to attending more.

Beautiful Bridesmaids

I have just caught up with last month's (13th October) crop kit layout which I started at the Papermaze Crop - and it's nearly time for the next one (Saturday 10th). The pretty October layout was designed by Janina and suited the photo of my daughter and great niece, who were bridesmaids for my nephew and his new wife in September this year.

Please see the original design on the Papermaze blog.

Aunty & Uncle

I chose this lovely sheet of paper when shopping at Papermaze recently and the colours worked well with the photo of us, as Aunty and Uncle at my nephew's wedding.

The paper is called 'Meadow' from the Indigo Hills 2 collection by Pink Fresh.
I gutted the centre of the wreath with a craft knife, carefully cutting around each of the leaves. Then backed the space with a sheet of 'Misty' from the Indigo Skies collection by Kaisercraft. The leaves were then raised with 3D foam pads to add dimension.
I used the reverse side of 'Meadow' to make a mat for the photo.

The title was cut from the denim side of 'Chambray' paper, also from the Indigo Skies collection. I used Crafter's Companion dies.

I added paper blossoms and a pearl swirl from Wild Orchid Crafts.
