Happy Wedding Day

I was asked to make a wedding card for a pink colour schemed wedding. This is what I came up with. 

The image is from Lili of the Valley and the background paper is from Crafter's Companion. I cut the image and the mats are cut using a stacking set of dies from Sizzix. The greeting dies are also from Crafter's Companion. The words were cut from pink and and coated with Glossy Accents.

I used a selection of flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, and the leaves were cut from scraps of paper with a Martha Stewart punch. finally I added dots of Nuvo Crystal drops in pink, white and silver.

Aunty & Uncle

I chose this lovely sheet of paper when shopping at Papermaze recently and the colours worked well with the photo of us, as Aunty and Uncle at my nephew's wedding.

 

The paper is called 'Meadow' from the Indigo Hills 2 collection by Pink Fresh.
I gutted the centre of the wreath with a craft knife, carefully cutting around each of the leaves. Then backed the space with a sheet of 'Misty' from the Indigo Skies collection by Kaisercraft. The leaves were then raised with 3D foam pads to add dimension.
I used the reverse side of 'Meadow' to make a mat for the photo.

The title was cut from the denim side of 'Chambray' paper, also from the Indigo Skies collection. I used Crafter's Companion dies.

 I added paper blossoms and a pearl swirl from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Beautiful...

Today I'm sharing another layout I made at the Merly Impressions Retreat in July. The original layout was designed by Chrissy and I adapted it to suit my photograph. The Kaisercraft collection used for this page is Lilac Whisper. The White Wood paper made an ideal background for stamping the border around the photograph.

 

The cardstock, dies and stamps are also Kaisercraft.  The resin flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The stitching was created with 49 and Market stamps.

The black and white photo of my daughter Catherine was taken by my daughter Emily when they had a photogrophy session at home to create a portfoio for Catherine's theatre career.

We Will Remember

My poppy from the Tower arrived a few weeks ago. I have yet to decide where I will plant it!

Here is a layout using one of the many photos I took when I visited The Tower of London in August last year. I returned again in October and was surprised how different it looked due to the number of poppies there by then.

Marjorie

Time for another heritage layout.

I am still working through the lovely old photos I acquired recently. This one is Marjorie Phyllis Holder, she was one of my Grandfather's thirteen siblings, so she was my great Aunt.

Marjorie was born in Bromley in 1908 to Frederick Holder and Emma Jane Florence (Williams).

Marjorie married Gordon Stebbing in 1928.

I used:

Beauty - S is for Splice

'S is for Splicing' is the theme for December over on Scrapology. Splicing up a large photo to be precise, although you could also use a series of photos or another method with the same sketch. I chose to scrap this lovely photo of my daughter Catherine. It is another one from the series she had taken at a photo shoot at the beginning of the year. 

I knew I was treasuring these Kaiser craft papers from Merly Impressions for a good reason. They were prefect for the background in this photo. I printed the picture in black and white and colour before splicing them both up - eek!

1950's Sweethearts

Mum and Dad bay in the 1950's before they were married, and another layout for the September Scrapology Scraplift challenge.

This time I used some Crate papers from my stash, I'm not sure what collection I have had them a while and had started to use them so the label has been cut off! I chose the cream lacy edge paper for the background as there is a lot of 'white space' with this design. It had the brown polka-dot design on the reverse side.

The starburst was created by drawing a circle and then cutting across the diameter four times and folding back the segments. I inked them and added a foam pad under each one to maintain the dimension. I stuck the photo behind the aperture created. Then I cut eight more triangles the same size as the segments in a different paper and placed these between the original eight.

I decorated between each segment with some tiny roses from Wild Orchid Crafts and added some fern leaves cut with a Martha Stewart punch.

To the bottom right I added a lacy border sticker from the same paper collection, with a cluster of three roses and more fern leaves.

The title numbers were American Craft Thickers and the lettering was cut from a Sizzlet decorative strip die.


A relatively quick layout to make. I did ink the edges of all the triangles and leaves.

Shabby Chic Challenge

The photo on this layout shows my brother and his wife at their wedding just over a year ago in Brazil. This is my design team layout for the month of August over on Scrapology. Please visit the blog to see the fabulous layouts created by the rest of the DT.

Here is what I used and what I did:

Cream & white Bazzill, Shapes cut using the Cricut and the Ornamental Iron 2 cartridge 
 Paper roses - Wild Orchid Crafts, buttons, DMC twine, white guipure lace, gold dew drops

I worked with mostly white, cream and blue sections from the patterned papers. Distressing and inking all the edges as I worked.

Gut the Panache paper, ending up with a 12" x 12" frame 2" deep. Cut the white Bazzill to 10 ½" x 10 ½".  

With a Martha Stewart border punch - punch five times in various places around the Bazzill but not in a complete border. Spritz some blue glimmer mists to the white card. Attach a short (about 2") length of lace to the back of the Bazzill where it has been punched. This then shows behind and extends beyond each punched pattern area (see photo). The whole piece was then attached to the centre of the frame prepared earlier.

The blue mat is cut from the Decoupage paper and measures 6" x 7". The diagonal stripe mat is cut from La Vie En Rose and measures 6 ½" x 7 ½"  - arrange on the page. Use a 1" x 12" strip of cream Bazzill and decorate this with a border punch. 7" of this was tucked under the top edge of the striped paper, so the pattern shows above with the blue paper showing through. Mount the 4" x 6" photo onto a piece of Panache paper to leave a narrow border. 

Use the cream Bazzill elements already cut with the Ornamental Iron II Cricut cartridge and arrange on the page. The fleur de lis circles were mounted onto 1 ¾" circles cut from Panache paper.

The heart was made with a punch, then thread wrapped round it and finished off with a button.  Add two paper roses, and make another two using the Stampin' Up Blossom punch and scraps of the patterned papers (see separate instructions).

Cut two tags from the Decoupage paper. 

I cut five flags from the scraps of Panache paper and added the remainder of the punched strip made earlier to the top of each flag. The flags were arranged to make bunting below the photo and the rest of the thread was woven around them, and held in place each end with a button.

To finish off I added some gold dew drops.

Happy 21st Birthday Katie!

I was asked to make a 21st birthday card for Katie. So I created this vintage girly easel card. It's 8" x 8" and made using Bo Bunny's Ces't La Vie collection.

The girl stamp is one of the Prima dolls, I layered up her shirt using some of the patterned papers and coloured the rest of her with my Promarkers.
The large lacy circle and edging were cut form a Sizzix die set and cream Bazzill. The charm has been in my stash for a while and was perfect for Katie. The ribbon is from Cardinal Colours. The various flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I also used lots of flat backed gems.

 The numbers were stamped using Papermania stamps and cut from patterned paper. These were raised up with 3D foam pads.

 I added lots of stickles to create sparkle to the numbers and the letters. 'KATIE' is made from foam American Craft Thickers, which were inked and glittered.

Schools Out!

Claire Bell (Silver Custard) has set the card challenge over on Scrapology this month and this is my card for the 'Schools Out' theme.

I made this card for my son, Andrew's friend Anna in America, as she recently graduated. I used some paper by Magnolia, an image and a greeting stamp called 'Tessa Tassel' form Kraftin' Kimmie, letter stickers by Doodlebug Designs Inc. A 6" x 6" square card blank, ribbon and some Wild Orchid Crafts cherry blossoms and a rose. The die was by Sizzix, and I coloured the image with Promarkers.

A Mother's Love

Look at those rosy cheeks! This was me with my mother in our home in Beckenham in the 1960's. I love the details in this photo, the tea tray set with pot, jug, cups and saucers, even a small vase of flowers. Lovely to look back and remember the clothes and wall paper etc.

I was inspired to use these colours when I saw a layout by the talented Heather Jacob. I have used Kaisercraft Periwinkle collection - hint, shimmer and secret. Also from Kaisercraft I used a Charlotte's Dream rub on for the border, 'A Mother's Love' was another rub on from the sheet called 'Mother'. I made two crochet flowers adding buttons and thread.

The right side border is a spiral notebook punch, and more punches were used for the label shapes. I used a few blossoms from Wild Orchid Crafts and a Tim Holtz book plate.  The chipboard flourish and chicken wire are both by Dusty Attic.

In the background I have used some picket fence distress stain and a Prima stamp with a white ink pad. A thick card tag was used for the title and a few gems were added to the flourish.

I had fun creating this page while away at Debden last month.

Photo Shoot

My daughter Catherine had a photo shoot recently, and I took some of the images to our recent scrpbooking retreat at Debden. I thought the colours in this photo looked good with the papers in the '75 cents' collection by Kaisercraft. I was inspired by a layout by Emilie Chamel.

 

I used some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, and some white ribbon roses I have had in my stash for a long time. There are three black flat-backed pearls. The other elements were all cut from the papers or the sticker sheet. A few splats of distress stain and some stickles to finish off.

Garden Girls

A photo I recently converted from colour slide of my mother and me in the garden at home in Beckenham about 1963.

This was my second Scrapology Design Team layout for this month's challenge. It was made in a similar way to the first but I used papers from the Webster's Pages 'Park Drive' collection, white Bazzill and green sewing thread.

I added a lot of flowers and leaves all from Wild Orchid Crafts. The butterflies are cut with a Martha Stewart punch. My title is a green chipboard Thickers alphabet from American Crafts.

I also used some deep white cotton crochet lace and some clear dew drops.
The challenge was to use hand stitching and we are scraplifting this pretty, fresh looking layout by Delaina Farr Burns.

Wedding Canvas

My brother, Rob married the lovely Elaine in Brazil back in May 2012. I made them a canvas for Christmas, but am only able to give it to them today as they have been away over Christmas and the New Year.

I used a 16"x16" deep canvas, and the Basic Grey Serenade collection. I picked out three papers - 50 Pence, Peacock and Chemise together with some alphabet stickers for the date. I made the base by painting the canvas with Opal Jo Sonia's acrylic paint and tearing, inking and arranging the BG papers.

The photo was 20 x 25 cm, but trimmed down. I used a Buzz and Bloom 'On the Grapevine' large die cut chipboard frame, this was also painted with the opal paint and then spritzed with Cosmic Shimmer Mist - Ancient Copper and Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer Mist - Teal High Heal.  There are a few splodges of Tim Holtz Distress Stain, on the frame and papers.

I added three clusters of paper roses, cherry blossoms and leaves - these were all from Wild Orchid Crafts.
My title was made with Amy Tangerine American Crafts Everyday printed chipboard alphabet stickers.

To the flowers and frame I added some Glitz Stickles - Ancient Copper. I used a few flat-backed pearls and some pale blue organza ribbon with a heart hat pin.

I added a few very tiny blue flowers with leaves here and there on the chipboard vine frame.

My Page for December - Petite Bebe

Here are some details of how I made my layout for December;s Monochromatic challenge here at Scrapology.

this was our sketch.

I stuck with the white but chose a coloured photograph of my daughter Catherine taken in June 1992 when she was about 10 weeks old. I loved this little romper suit I brought for Catherine, with it's pretty floral print and smocking. It's one I kept and she now treasures.

I used a sheet of Dotted Swiss Bazzill in Salt as my base. I then used a sheet of white Bazzill and cut the following from it:
Two circles - one 3" and one 4" (I used George and Basic Shapes Cartridge and the Cricut)
A scalloped square 5" (I used Cindy Loo Cartridge and the Cricut)
Two Garden Branches using the Marianne Design die and the Big Shot
Three Catalina Wreaths using the Memory Box die and the Big Shot
Two Kaleidoscope Butterflies using the Memory Box die and the Big Shot

With scraps of the white card punch:
Twice with the Martha Stewart 3 in 1 butterfly punch
Twice with the Martha Stewart 3 in 1 hydrangea punch
Four times with the Martha Stewart frond punch

Take the circles and run through the Big shot using the Cuttlebug Elegant Birds embossing folder.
Trim 1 1/2" from one side of the scalloped square and run this through the dandelion embossing folder.

I printed the photo to the size of 4" x 6" and then used my 4" circle as a template to cut the photo.

Then I arranged the circles, scalloped square and photo on the background, adding a doily under the photo. This was all stuck down into position. I arranged  the two Catalina wreaths overlapping one another and the embossed circles, these were stuck down in just a few places with a sticky foam pad under each of the larger flowers, thus leaving the wreath free to appear to be hovering off the page. It also allows for other items to be tucked in place later.

Add the two large Memory Box butterflies  one to the top right of the page and the other to the left of the larger circle - only sticking the bodies to the page so the wings are free. Add a few of the smaller butterflies above the latter in the same way.

Stick a strip of DST from the bottom centre of the photo out to the right of the layout to end at the edge of the the scalloped circle. Stick white satin ribbon over the tape pleating as you go.

Stick the two Marianne Garden Branches to the page one to the left of the ribbon reaching out to the left, the other from the bottom centre of the photo, trailing to the bottom of the layout, slightly over to the left.

Now to destroy the blossoms and leaves - Maw ha ha ha! Take the wires and any green leaves and yellow stamen off! Arrange a selection of flowers onto the page with the larger ones nearer the photo trailing down in size towards the left corner of the page. I used two white wires from the leaves to extend from the flowers, adding tiny roses at the ends and some small blossoms halfway down.
I added some petal shapes from the 3 in 1 Hydrangea punch over the centre of some of the flowers where green or yellow bits still showed, layering these up where appropriate. Add some punched leaf fronds here and there.

I added a blossom, two punched fronds and a tiny rose to the right hand end of the ribbon.

I curled up four white wires to add as tendrils from the blossoms. Also add the silk leaves.

Use flat backed pearls to add centres to some of the blossoms.

With White Opal Liquid Pearls add tiny dots around the large circle and some slightly larger dots around the scalloped edges of the square. I then added some random dots to the branches and the wreaths.

Finally cut the title in white Bazzill using Lucy QuickKuts alphabet dies. Stick to the bottom right of the layout. Highlight the title with some Glossy Accents.
