More Calendar Girls

Time to catch up on blogging some of the cards and other things I made over the last few weeks. There have been so many birthdays in March. Here are four of the cards I made to give my lovely, crafty March birthday friends.

Again I used the Lily of the Valley Digi Stamps - Thoroughly Modern Misses images, together with their Monthly Traits wording. It is interesting to note that this company has now become digital only.

The Happy Birthday die is by Presscuts and the upper case lettering dies are a set by Die-Namics.

I used various 6" x 6" paper pads from my stash to make each card, together with ribbons and cardstock. All the cards are 6" x 6". I coloured all the images with my trusty Promarkers. Another change to note, and which I only discovered as I needed to replace a few colours after many years and much work. They are now produced by Windsor and Newton and not Letraset. I like the way the end cap is now labelled with the colour and code.

The first birthday to be celebrated by the crop girls was Jane, ...

 ... closely followed by Jackie.

I was priviledged to spend the day with Jill on her birthday as we were all away together for our annual weekend of crafting at Easthampstead Park.

Last, but not least, Alison's birthday was earlier this week.

There was another special birthday this month within our group, which I will share later. Also still to come this month are my own three babies with their 26th birthday on 31st.

Thanks for looking.

Calendar Girls

Today I'm sharing some more of my Lily of the Valley - Thoroughly Modern Misses cards. These were made with Digital cards, but rubber stamps and simply prints are also available. The Monthly Traits are also from Lily of the Valley. Here are my January and February cards.

This first one was made for my great niece - Jessica for her birthday. The background was made with a stencil, and some Glitter Kisses and Distress Inks in three shades of blue. The greeting is a die from Creative Companions. All the cards were coloured with my Promarkers.

For Kerry's card I used some patterned papers from Crafter's Companion. and some embellishments from my stash.

Liz's card uses more of the items used above, with ribbons from my stash.

Wendy's easel card was again made using papers and pens etc. as above. All these cards are 6" x 6" in size.

Hope you all had a good birthday.

I printed them onto digital cardstock and coloured them with my Promarkers.

The greeting is from Crafter's companion, and the patterned papers and ribbons are from my stash.

New Baby Girl - Card and Crochet

Baby Scarlett Rose joined our family on 28th November. Here is the card I made to congratulate my nephew Sam and his fiancĂ©e Chelsey.

The image is from Lily of the Valley, stamped with a Memento ink pad and coloured with Promarkers. The patterned papers and ribbon are from my stash. The cardstock is Bazzill and the rosette was cut using a Sizzix Sizzlit Decorative Strip die - Mini Paper Rosette. The words' Girl' and 'New Baby' are cut with Crafter's Companion dies. The cards was finished off with some Distress Ink, Liquid Pearls and flat backed pearls.

I also made Scarlett a bunny Lovey to snuggle up to.

Impressed by the work of my friend Alison, who has made several of these in different colour combinations - I looked for a pattern to download. I found this one by Amy Ramnarine - The Stitchin’ Mommy at www.thestitchinmommy.com

Father's Day

I was asked to make a Father's Day card for a Dad who is a ex-jockey and keen horseman.

I remember the cartoons by Thelwell from my younger years when my friends and I all had riding lessons and loved anything to do with horses. So the Crafter's Companion Thelwell Twin Papercrafting CD Rom proved to be the answer. You can also download individual Digi Images from the website if you don't want the whole collection. I picked 'Lazing' as it seemed appropriate for relaxing on Father's Day.

I used:
6" x 6" card blank
Crafter's Companion Word Die Bundle - Male
Kaisercraft Basecoat
Basic Grey Urban Couture
Promarkers
Quite a simple card, but relevant for the event.
Happy Father's Day.

Wedding Card for Nicola and George

Today is the wedding day of Nicola (my cousin's daughter) and George.

I made this 8" x 8" card for them.

I layered up white and pink cardstock, together with silver Miri card, the top embossed layer has a paisley pattern and is from doodlebug Designs Inc.
I cut the scalloped circles using the Cricut, and some digital card. The stamp is from Lili of the Valley and is stamped in Memento Ink and coloured with Promarkers.
The lettering with shadows cut using the Cricut and pink and white card, and lots of Stickles.
My flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts and the leaves are made with a Martha Stewart punch, green card and stickles.
I dded a butterfly from my stash.

The inside was decorated and another Lili of the Valley stamp used to create the greeting, but I forgot to photograph it!

I wish Nicola and George a very happy day today.

Happy Birthday D.S.M.

Here is my layout created with the April Papermaze Crop Kit. Vanessa designed this months kit which is called Victorian Day.

Here is my version of the design:

These mobile phone photos were taken in one of the dressing rooms backstage at the Grand Opera House York. Catherine is the Deputy Stage Manager (DSM) for Agatha Christie's Black Coffee which is currently on tour. It was Catherine's birthday while she was there and when she arrived the other staff had gifts, cards and a birthday cake ready for her. Nice to know they are looking after her while she is away from home. Hopefully this is only one of many layouts toward an album of this years tour for Catherine. She finishes in Milton Keynes tonight and moves on to Coventry tomorrow.

The kit contained:
Simple Stories - A charmed Life -Whitewashed Wood
Kaisercraft Honey Chai Star Anise
Bazzill Java and Aqua
White Vellum
Embroidery thread
Washi tape

We also used:
Harlequin background stamp by Kaisercraft
Acrylic paint
Chalkboard Glimmer Mist - Sprout
Corner rounder punch
Chevron Punch by Martha Stewart
Promarker to colour the vellum
Various butterfly and fern leaf punches
Alphabet for title cut using Die-namics dies, - My favorite things - by the letters

Here is Vanessa's original layout:
