I am introducing the romantic February Papermaze Kit, over on the blog today.  This beautiful collection is ideal for St. Valentine, wedding and other romantic photos, but they are also perfect for heritage layouts. As the weather is cold and miserable, I have been working on my family tree, and making new links on Ancestry. I came across this lovely photo of a family ancestor. I will add details of Laura's life and family below.

Laura Susannah Edwards is my husband's Maternal Great Grandaunt, she was born on 25th March 1857, Maidenhead, Berkshire. Her parents were Charles Edwards (1812 - 1885) & Ann Walters (1821 - 1912)

Laura married William John Honor (1858 – 1923) on 8th July 1878, Brentford, Middlesex. The couple had  ten children, including a set of twins: Ada May Scarfield, Sophie Elizabeth, Maud Mary, Laura Susannah, John Ernest Samuel Edward (Jack), James, Charles William Henry, Herbert, Jessie and Florence Ethel. 
 
Laura had eleven siblings: Henry, Mary, Elizabeth, John, Rebecca Ann, Jemima, Samuel, William Henry, Ernest James, Ruben and Avis. 

Laura died at the age of 88 on 21st January 1946 in Brentford, Middlesex

This is the first of my layouts made using the August Papermaze Kit. Lots of bright summery colours in this selection - papers, cardstock and embellishments.

The colours in this kit, and the Simple Stories paper in particular, were perfect to record the details of the making of this pretty colourful crochet blanket.

So Lucky

The National Scrapbooking Day challenge on the Peartree Cutfile Facebook page is to scraplift one of the design team's layouts, but to use a different cutfile. I chose to scraplift a layout by Essie-Jane, called Snuggle Time (see below).

This is the layout I made, using a photo of Alan from out trip to Dublin, back in June 2014.

Wedding Crafts - Part 1

Last weekend was my daughter Catherine's wedding to George. In this post I want to share with you the table decorations I made for them. I had an idea to use artists mannequins as place settings, from there the idea developed. My dear father passed away in 2017 and as he was a talented artist this was intended as a fitting tribute to him.

  In the end we decorated 13 12" mannequins and just over 100 mini figures! 

Catherine and George have been going out together for over 12 years and so chose the years as the numbers for their wedding reception tables, ranging from 2007 for the top table to 2018. I made half the table number figures male guests and the other half female. For the top table I made a bride and groom, putting the bride in the grooms arms.

Then for the place settings I decorated a mini figure for each guest. Each figure was painted, pink tops and pink or silver shoes for the ladies. White shirts, grey trousers and black shoes for the men. The groom had a waistcoat as well. The wedding party all had tiny roses as buttonholes.

Then for the ladies, my other daughter Emily and I created crochet hat and ribbon fascinators. I stitched skirts for each lady too. Lots of ribbon belts were made to finish off the skirts. The younger girls had shorter shirts made from wide ribbon.

The bridesmaids had long skirts and bouquets, the flower girls had crowns of flowers and shorter skirts.

Emily and I spent some time posing the figures in different groups as a wedding photographer would do and made an album for Catherine and George.

I made another dancing couple for the cake.

New Baby Girl - Card and Crochet

Baby Scarlett Rose joined our family on 28th November. Here is the card I made to congratulate my nephew Sam and his fiancée Chelsey. 

The image is from Lily of the Valley, stamped with a Memento ink pad and coloured with Promarkers. The patterned papers and ribbon are from my stash. The cardstock is Bazzill and the rosette was cut using a Sizzix Sizzlit Decorative Strip die - Mini Paper Rosette. The words' Girl' and 'New Baby' are cut with Crafter's Companion dies. The cards was finished off with some Distress Ink, Liquid Pearls and flat backed pearls.

I also made Scarlett a bunny Lovey to snuggle up to.

 

Impressed by the work of my friend Alison, who has made several of these in different colour combinations - I looked for a pattern to download. I found this one by Amy Ramnarine - The Stitchin’ Mommy at www.thestitchinmommy.com
