Bank Holiday Weekend

We have had a busy weekend. Andrew finished his last exam on Friday and just had to complete his last lab report and pack, to be ready to come home from University having completed his first year - where did that time go? It seams we just returned from setting him up in Manchester back in September! I had to work on Saturday as I was 'on call' so as soon as I could hand over on Sunday morning Alan Catherine and I set off for Blackpool. We have been meaning to visit Blackpool for some time and realised when looking for somewhere to stay overnight it wasn't really that much further on from Manchester.

Well only we could finally go somewhere we have been wanting to visit to find the whole seafront, including the Tower to be having a major makeover. The tower was covered in scaffolding. I'm sure it will all look great when it's open again in September. We took a long walk and ended up windswept on the pier, which also looks in need of some TLC. We had a good time but it was beginning to get chilly so we headed back to the hotel and stopped of for a lovely meal in Bella Italia.

Kiss Me Quick!

On Monday morning we set off for Manchester to collect Andrew, he was packed and ready to leave when we arrived, so after many trips up and down the stairs to load the car - a lot of 'stuff' can be collected in a year!, we headed off home. While reading the map and planning our best route we commented how close we would be travelling to Emily at Nottingham University. So we took a diversion and popped into to see her. She was thrilled with the unexpected visit, but sad not to be able to come home with us. She has another three weeks of lectures yet.  For the rest of us, it was back to the car and the rest of the trip home.

More Babies!

We have several friends who are expecting babies this year, so after making the Cricut boat cards, I decided to use the same principle and Cricut cartridge (New Arrivals) to make a few more.

I used more Magnolia papers, some of the new 6x6" sheets as well as the 12x12" sheets.

Welcome James Samuel

We received the wonderful news that our friend and fellow scrapbooker Adela, had a healthy 7lb 5oz baby boy on Friday. His name is James Samuel. Congratulations Adela and Liam. The card is on it's way.

Following on from yesterday's post about the Cricut Magazine, here are two more cards inspired by Mimi Panormios the February / March Issue. This time I found a new use for an old favourite and used the 'New Arrivals' Cartridge.

I made the two cards simultaneously because I had cut the little boats for one card I had enough shapes for both. Using the Card feature on the cartridge I was able to cut two 5x5" cards from a sheet of 12x12" white Bazzill. The papers are both Magnolia - So Jolly, Wrapped Plaid and Bon Voyage, New England.  I used scraps of ribbon and buttons from my stash and all the papers are inked with chalk inks.

The boat is an aperture cut in the front of the card and the patterned paper is stuck to the inside back of the card.

Congratulations on the birth of James Samuel.
Thanks for looking, off to try some more.

Cricut Magazine

I recently purchased several issues of the Cricut magazine with the intention of finding out more about using my Cricut. I have been having a play trying out the new cartridges I had for my birthday as well as some of my old favourites.

Here is the first card I made, based on an article in the February / March 2011 edition. by Alisha Gordon. I used similar papers as I loved the combination of the gingham with the text paper.  I changed the greeting from 'Love' to 'Thank You' as I needed to make a thank you card.

The heart is cut from the Sweetheart Cartridge from Magnolia Ink, So Jolly, Wrapped Plaid paper. My background is Basic Grey - Basics collection, and the paper flower is cut and pleated from Basic Grey's Blush collection. I added a felt flower and a button, with DMC thread. All papers were inked with Chalk inks.
For the lettering 'Thanks' is American Craft Thickers letter stickers and the 'You' is All My Memories, fabric letter stickers.

Thanks for looking, I will be back with some baby cards tomorrow.

I'm really enjoying these magazines.

Happy Birthday Ellena

Catherine's friend Ellena is 19 today and so I made a card for her. Catherine chose the Kraftin' Kimmie stamp for her lovely friend.

I decided to enter the Kimmie Challenge this week which was to 'Text me' and use text papers. I chose These Gabrielle papers from Bo Bunny. I used perfect pearls for the flowers in her hair and dress and coloured her with my Promarkers. The glittery numbers are American Craft stickers. The card is from Craftwork Cards. I added sticky flat backed gems, ribbon, and a rub-on greeting from Making Memories.

Thanks for looking

Happy Birthday Ellena and have a lovely party. x
