Simple Stories & Sketches - Part 5

After making four layouts there were an amazing number of papers, bits & pieces and stickers from Simple Stories - Bloom & Grow collection left over. So I created another page for my July project for the Papermaze Design Team (Scrap Paper Scissors).

Continuing the theme of sketches together with the Bloom & Grow collection, I chose a sketch from Sketch Savvy.

If you'd like to go back and read the first July post, you can find it HERE (where you'll find a list of links to sites with sketches).

For more details of supplies please see Papermaze blog (Scrap Paper Scissors) and shop site (Papermaze).

Summer of Creative Chemistry - 103 - Day 6

Summer of Creative Chemistry 103 with Online Card Classes - Day 6

... And now for something completely different! - No classes for day 6 - but lots of information presented in an informative video and some homework in the form of a challenge. We were asked to revisit one of our favorite techniques from the previous classes or to try one which was new to us. Then Tim asked that we give it a twist by using any surface other than the traditional cardstock.

I decided to have a go at the paper mosaic technique onto a grunge board, die cut mannequin shape. I mounted this onto burlap and I tried texture paste through a stencil onto the burlap directly and it worked well. I also tried using Alcohol Inks on plastic scrabble tiles.

Cardstock did feature in my finished layout as I used a small piece of Kraft Resist, with a Stamp & Archival Ink. I then inked this with several colours of Distress Ink.

Items used in this project:
  • Patterned Papers - Kaisercraft Miss Empire and 75 Cents
  • Ideology Paperstash - Kraft Resist
  • Distress Paper Mosaic Kit
  • Distress Inks
  • Sizzix Sewing Room Die
  • Grunge Board
  • Layering Stencil - Measured 012
  • Stampers Anonymous - Components Collection - Vogue
  • Alcohol Inks
  • Blending Solution
  • Scrabble Letters
  • Buttons
  • Crochet Doily
  • Bakers Twine
  • Sewing Machine Charm
  • Decorative Pin
  • Texture Paste
  • Ribbon
  • Press Studs
  • Hooks & Eyes
  • Lace
  • Burlap
It is a shame the classes have now come to an end, but it's now time to revisit many of the techniques I have learnt and to make some cards and gifts. I will also be using them in my scrapbooking. I now have an amazing library of technique tags to refer to, with the details attached to the back of each one.
I can recommend subscribing to all of the Creative Chemistry classes on offer as they are still available to purchase and take part in even though they wont be live.

12/08/16 - edited to say - I have just heard that I was a winner of the Grand prize for Creative Chemistry 103! I can't quite believe it!!

Simple Stories & Sketches - Part 4

Now for a double page and the fourth of my July blog posts for Papermaze Design Team Blog Scrap Paper Scissors. Continuing the theme of sketches and the delightful Simple Stories - Bloom & Grow collection. If you'd like to go back and read the first July post, you can find it HERE (where you'll find a list of links to sites with sketches).

This time I used a double page sketch from Let's Scrap.

Here is each page separately so that you can see more detail.

These photos were all taken at Hall Place Gardens, Bexleyheath back in 2009.

Thanks for looking, all details of how I made the page and where to get the supplies are on the Papermaze blog.
