New Job

A new job card for Emily who is now into her fourth week at Jupiter Designs Ltd. I couldn't share this card until the Scrapology card challenge had been published as it's one of my design team cards. Pop over to see more details of the 'New Beginnings' Challenge which has been set our own DT member Sheena.

My 6 x 6" card is created with papers from Bo Bunny's C'est La Vie collection. The stamped image is from Stamping Bella and coloured with my Promarkers. I added lots of paper flowers and some ribbon. The greeting is a Lili of the Valley stamp and 'Emily' is created with American Crafts Thickers.

Congratulations on the job Emily and I hope you will be happy in Nottingham.

Thanks for looking

First Day at School x 3

The triplets started school this month and these are the cards I made for them.

Each one is 6"x6" square and I have used DCWV papers.

The names have been spelt out in American Craft Foam Thickers. I printed the 'First day at school' out from my computer and cut out with a circle punch. These were each mounted on a slightly larger circle and then a scalloped circle.

The images are all from Lili of the Valley stamps, I simply added a pair of glasses to Lucy's character.

I added some ribbon to turn Oliver's greeting into a rosette.
All images have been coloured with Promarkers.

These cards are my contribution to the Scrapology Design Team September Card Challenge which is  'New Beginnings'.

Here are Lucy, Hannah and Oliver on their first day, looking very happy about going to school.

New Home

A New Home card for my daughter Emily who we moved into her house in Nottingham last weekend. This is one of my Design Team cards for the Scrapology Challenge this month.

I used some old DCWV papers, all on a chocolate theme, together with a Lili of the Valley stamp coloured with Promarkers.

I added a greeting stamp to the inside with another Lili of the Valley Stamp and a couple of punches.

The 'Good Luck' and the New Home were created with American Craft Thickers.

The paper lace trims were cut with a Martha Stewart border punch.

Good luck in your lovely new home Emily.
Looking forward to visiting again soon. xxx

A Sneak Peek at my Classes for the Cardinal Colours Crop

It's less then two weeks until the Autumn Cardinal Colours weekend crop. Here is a sneak peek at the classes I have planned.

The first is this Snowflake and Christmas layouts class:

A layout class to make not one but two layouts using Bazzill in four colours and papers from Bo Bunny's 'Mistletoe' collection and My Mind's Eye 'Winter Wonderland' collection.

Create a layout for winter in white, and shades of blue and one for a Christmas photo in traditional reds, whites and greens.

These layouts use several embellishments including glass, gems, twine ribbon and glitter glue.

Dig out you Christmas, winter and snow photos for this one, Lynn used a 4" wide x 6" tall photo for each page. Colour or black and white pictures would work equally well.

Glitter glue is included in your kit.

'12 Days of Christmas' Card Making Class.

Create a card for each of the first five days of Christmas in class, with instructions to make others up to twelve later.

Traditional Christmas colours and 6" x 6" cards blanks and envelopes together with Bo Bunny's 'Mistletoe' 6" x 6" papers in 12 designs. Die cut images, Bazzill cardstock in several colours, tiny letter stickers, gems, pearls, ribbon, twine and more.

Anita, Linda and Jill have also planned classes and they are all priced at £12.50. See Jill's A Calendar of Colours Blog for details of the other classes and the weekend.

If you are not attending the weekend, but are interested in any of the kits, please contact us and we will keep a reserve list for any kits left over after the weekend.

ChYps and a Challenge

Tracie Dempster, Head of Care at ChYps has asked us if we would like to take part in a card making challenge.

Together with Scrapology, Tracie has supplied the basic materials for making a daffodil sympathy card. The Chyps Team want to send out a card to families after the death of the child they have cared for. The team would like these cards to have some similarities and so the card blank, envelope, printed insert, some digital cardstock (for stamping) and the daffodil stamp have all been supplied together with Stazon or Memento Ink (for stamping). After that how you colour your image or decorate your card is up to you!

What Chyps would like you to do is take a set of these materials and make a card to donate back to them to use, there will be a prize for the best card too!

The materials will be available at the next few Scrapology Club nights and also at the Cardinal Colours Weekend Crop. You are welcome to make one or more, just ask Lynn.  If you can't get to these events but would still like to take part please just ask, state the type of ink you need your image stamped in and we will send you the necessary materials.

Woodware Stamp
So please have a think about how you would like to do this and join in the fun, helping ChYps at the same time.

Many thanks.

1950's Sweethearts

Mum and Dad bay in the 1950's before they were married, and another layout for the September Scrapology Scraplift challenge.

This time I used some Crate papers from my stash, I'm not sure what collection I have had them a while and had started to use them so the label has been cut off! I chose the cream lacy edge paper for the background as there is a lot of 'white space' with this design. It had the brown polka-dot design on the reverse side.

The starburst was created by drawing a circle and then cutting across the diameter four times and folding back the segments. I inked them and added a foam pad under each one to maintain the dimension. I stuck the photo behind the aperture created. Then I cut eight more triangles the same size as the segments in a different paper and placed these between the original eight.

I decorated between each segment with some tiny roses from Wild Orchid Crafts and added some fern leaves cut with a Martha Stewart punch.

To the bottom right I added a lacy border sticker from the same paper collection, with a cluster of three roses and more fern leaves.

The title numbers were American Craft Thickers and the lettering was cut from a Sizzlet decorative strip die.

A relatively quick layout to make. I did ink the edges of all the triangles and leaves.

This is the original layout we are scraplifting by the talented Sandie Edwards:

Here is the sketch:

Please see Scrapology for more details of the original challenge, prize and the rest of the design team's beautiful layouts.

Thanks for looking.

Ranger Guides

My design team layout for this month's challenge over on Scrapology.
I used a photograph of my mother and her friend Janette when they were Ranger Guides back in about 1950.

We are scraplifting this pretty layout by Sandie Edwards (her blog can be seen HERE).

We drew our sketch:

We are challenging you to create a layout with a 'starburst' using any shapes to focut on your photograph.

Here is what I used and what I did:
Kaiser Craft Papers from the Marigold collection.
Maple
Spice

Tawny
Inkadinkado Stamping Gear Intro Kit, Memento ink pad, button, DMC thread, small doily, Ranger Distress stain, Liquid Pearls, Stampin' Up label punch & scalloped edged scissors

With the 'Maple' paper and the blue polka dot  side up, dab a few splodges of distress ink randomly over the page.

Use the Inkadinkado Stamping Gear Intro Kit to create a circle of petals. This is about 3 1/2" in from the left and up from the bottom.  Choose and attach the stamp you choose (from the four supplied) 1/2" in from the bottom of the shaped stamping block. Stamp in every slot of the cog.
Please see You Tube Video by EK Success.

Stamp 16 images using the same stamp on the blue side of 'Tawny' paper. These are cut out, the edges inked with chalk ink and stuck over the images stamped onto the 'Maple' paper.

Stamp 8 more images from orange side of 'Spice' paper, then 8 images from the other side of the same paper. Cut all these out, curve them slightly with the scissor blade. Arrange them in between the blue petals. Stick the points close to the inner circle with glue and the wider end with some 3D foam pads to add dimension.

Attach a small doily over the centre of the circle.
Cut your photo into a circle to fit within the doily centre, and a circular mat slightly bigger than the photo from the orange side of 'Spice' paper. Ink and layer in centre of Circle.

Punch a label from the other side of 'Spice' paper, write details of photo onto label, ink edges and add to bottom of photo with 3D foam pads.

Add a few spots of Liquid Pearls around the photo mat.

Use one of the manufacturer's cut off strips and pleat it. stick to top right of layout.
Cut a fine strip of the orange side of 'Spice' paper with scalloped scissors about 6" long and attach under the pleated strip.

Take a button, thread with DMC thread and tie in a bow on top of the button. Stick button about 1" in from the right over the paper strips.
Pop over to Scrapology to read more details of the challenge and prize.

Thanks for looking.
