Mark's Mural - Mr Men

Here is my answer to this months Colour, Stories, Inspiration (CSI) Cold Case No. 338.
To go with the 'scene' colour scheme, I chose this photo of my nephew in 1987. I painted this Mr Men mural on his bedroom wall for him.

See the list of clues for this challenge below.
I managed to achieve the following:
* Older papers that match some of the colours in the scene - Echo Park Country Drive and Farm Girl collections
*Older Papers with stripes
*Use older kitchen or home themed elements - Spoon charms to reflect the boy eating on the mural.
* Use older metal items - Spoons
* Use paint that you havent used in a while - old acrylic paints to add colour to the tips of the brushes
* Use old stickers - from the Echo Park Farm Girl collection and

Basic Grey letter stickers
* Use a stamp you havent used before - Woodware Art Easel set for the paint brush

That'a all for today, thanks for looking.

Distress Oxide Ink Blending Combos - Week 1

I have seen and been impressed by a few people sharing their results from this project, so followed their links to Kristina Werner's blog to find out more about it. You will find details and a video there to inspire. I decided to join in the fun, making the four colour combos for this week.

I plan to make my samples into cards so have made them big enough to do this. I have treated them all with different techniques. I used Distress Oxide Inks, Mini Round Blending Tools and foam pads all purchased from Papermaze. I purchased the Neenah Classic Crest Solar White from Crafter's Companion.

Oxide Combo 1 - Scattered Straw, Worn Lipstick & Festive Berries

The blended card was cut with a Sizzix stacked Postage Thinlits die and the balloons were cut with dies from Crafter's Companion. The greeting stamps is from Woodware.

I used an Echo Park stencil and a baby wipe to lift colour off the card after blending.

Oxide Combo 2 - Dried Marigold, Ripe Persimmon & Fired Brick

I treated this blended card with a Tim Holtz Layering Stencil and some Translucent Texture Paste. It was cut with a Sizzix Stacked Deckle die. The greeting is an Avery Elle stamp.

Oxide Combo 3 - Tattered Rose, Abandoned Coral & Seedless Preserves

Before Blending I used a Woodware stamp and Versamark Ink with White embossing powder.
I lifted ink from inside the stamped image with a brush and water.

Oxide Combo 4 - Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry & Wilted Violet

Once blended I stamped with Versamark and black embossing powder, using another Woodware stamp. The greeting stamp is from Avery Elle. Trimmed with a Sizzix stitched stacked die.

Looking forward to next week's colour combinations.

Atrists at Work

Here is my final layout using the bright, summery August Papermaze Kit. The full details are on the Papermase Blog.

This layout is called 'Artists at Work', and features my three children on the patio in our garden painting at the easels. They were about 2 years old.

I used the Woodware stamps from the kit, with inks and sprays.

The great thing is there is still plenty of kit left for a few cards. Great value for money as the kit is only £10.00 and the additional cardstock is £1.75. Four layouts and some cards or part of another layout.

Back with a new kit for September later in the month.
Thanks for looking.

Relax - Papermaze August Kit

My second layout using the kit from Papermaze for the month of August is called 'Relax'. I selected the blues and greens from the bright, summery colours of this kit for this layout.  The layout features two photographs of my son, some years ago enjoying the hammock we set up in the garden between the trees.

The August Kit
... And here is the Pagemap sketch I chose to work from.

I chose waterfall Bazzill as the base for this layout. I cut a strip of Tidepool which I then cut in half diagonally. These pieces were randomly stamped with the Woodware circle stamps and placed either side of the layout and trimmed with pale blue ric-rac from my stash.

Using the Tidepool paper again, but with the wording side uppermost, I cut a pieceto place placed in the centre of the page. Then I trimmed a piece from the stripe side of Life is Good paper, selecting the blue and green area, I shaped this into a banner at the bottom.

With one of the Amy Tangerine Resist Watercolour Tags supplied, I created an ombre effect by blending several shades of distress ink across the length of the tag. Then I tied a scrap of jute twine to the tag.

Finally I used two leaf dies from a Sizzix Thinlits set called Intricate Native Florals and with some white scrap card I made three clusters of three leaves.

Back with more early next month. with two more layouts from this kit.

Birthday Bookworm for Emily

Happy birthday Emily!

I made this card for Emily using a My Scrap Chick SVG file, and a combination of Graphic 45 - Rare Oddities papers and Bazzill cardstock. I used a Lili of the Valley stamp for the greeting and that is layered up using circle punches.

I loved the fact that the papers had a library print and the book titles and other images in this collection Emily's sort of thing!

Happy birthday Em.

Little Boxes!

Using up some scraps of patterned papers I thought I would try out the Sizzix milk carton die I purchased a long time ago and have not made use of yet.

These little boxes would make great place markers for the dinner table.

I also used Stampin' Up and Woodware circle punches
Papers are Sugar Plum by Doodlebug Design Inc.
The alphabet die is from Die-namics
