Bee Happy

This is my entry for the Peartree Peardrop April challenge #1.

I chose to scrap this photo of the Winnie the Pooh characters dancing in the parade at Disneyland Paris. I used the Peartree Cutfile 'Bee Happy'.

Welcome to the World Baby Girl

This weekend is the February Pear Drop Crop over on the Peartree Cutfile Facebook page. There are four challenges and the first has been set by Vik, and is a moodboard.

Here is my layout and it's a photo of one of my daughters - Catherine in the SCBU at the age of 10 days.

Gift Wrapped!

Meet Stanley! One of my sister's new kittens (Dougie to follow). This photo was taken after about a week of her welcoming the kittens to her home.

This layout is for today's FTLOFF Cake Day (6th Anniversary) first challenge - titled Battenberg. The aim is to use a 4 square gird and / or a pair of colours. So I went for red and white and a gift parcel effect, which divides the page into 4 parts. 

For this layout I dug into my store of prescious stash, that I have been saving for something special.

The border is a paper from Magnolia Ink's Sweet Christmas Dreams collection and is called Lingonberry Christmas.

Over this I added a sheet of trimmed white Bazzill, after splattering it with red, white, balck and silver acrylic paint.

The photo was mounted onto some Basic Grey's Black Tie collection background papers (scraps). These are great because they are distressed they are no solid colour and have many other colours running through them.

I tied a bow in dark red ribbon, matching the ribbon in the photo as closely as I could. To this I added two tiny silver bells, just like on Stanley's collar.

The letters for the title (and stars) are from my stash and an old glittery red alphabet from Making Memories, and some silver glitter letters of unknown manufacturer.

The label sticker is another treasure from Basic Grey.

Happy Birthday Robert!

Today is my brother's birthday and as we have been working on boxed cards for the June Challenge on Scrapology, I thought I would make him one too.

The measurements for this one were take from an article in Making Cards Magazine.
My papers are from Magnolia (footballs) and Chatterbox. The Card stock is all by Bazzill.

The stamps are from two different sets, one from Stampin' Up 'Goal', and the others are from a set by Little Claire Designs. Claret and blue for West Ham.

52 Card Challenge 2014 - Week 7

Here we are in week 7 of 2014 and the 52 card challenge already! For details of this challenge please see Natty's Kool Kitty Musings Blog

Natty chooses a new desktop wallpaper calendar to add to her PC and phone/iPad each month, this month she has chosen from the designs over at Going Home to Roost . Natty selected their February desktop design and the colour prompt for the week (see image below my card).  We have a mix of cream/white, spearmint green, blues/aqua/turquoise to play with.

I used the Cricut and the Create a Critter cart, together with papers from Doodlebug Design and Magnolia. A Lili of the Valley greetings stamp and Woodware circle punches. Some pale blue trim was added at the bottom for water.
Also used: White Gel Pen, Black Memento Ink, Distress Ink, Bazzill cardstock.

Valentine Card II

Back with another Valentine card. I saw a card with this wording on in a newsagent while queuing to pay and thought it would be brilliant for someone better known as 'Toad'!

So as a last minute card I made this with some of the bits left over from other work which remained on my desk top. I used the Cricut and the Sweetheart cartridge. when I searched on the My Cut Search site I was amazed how many cartridges had toads/frogs on them. This is such a useful facility for finding what you already have without searching through every booklet.

There is a mix of patterend papers Magnolia and Doodlebug Designs Inc. included, and several colours of Bazzill cardstock.

The font is 'cheri', I liked the way it dots the 'i's' with a tiny heart. I cut and layered this with my usual combination of Woodware and Stampin' Up punches.

The hearts are a combination of two different packs I have had a ling time, they were purchased from Paperchase.

Schools Out!

Claire Bell (Silver Custard) has set the card challenge over on Scrapology this month and this is my card for the 'Schools Out' theme.

I made this card for my son, Andrew's friend Anna in America, as she recently graduated. I used some paper by Magnolia, an image and a greeting stamp called 'Tessa Tassel' form Kraftin' Kimmie, letter stickers by Doodlebug Designs Inc. A 6" x 6" square card blank, ribbon and some Wild Orchid Crafts cherry blossoms and a rose. The die was by Sizzix, and I coloured the image with Promarkers.

Birthday Feathers

 For the month of January's card challenge on Scrapology is a colour wheel and Linda has challenged us to use LIME, PURPLE and SILVER on our cards.

My feathers were cut with the Cricut and the Art Nouveau Cartridge. 

The were inked and curled with scissors and layered up, before being stuck in place on the cards. The backing paper is from Magnolia. The Hero Arts stamp reads "Our birthdays are feathers in the broad wings of time". I added a lot of  crystal Stickles, miri card and some flat backed pearls and gems.

For the final one I used gold instead of silver.

C.S.I. #31 - Down By The Sea

I recently came across the C.S.I. (Colour Stories, Inspiration) challenge blog and I love the concept and the clever colour combinations. I wanted to have a go but haven't had much time, however I have a few days away at the moment so decided to give challenge 31 a try last night (with 24 hours to go to the closing date and time and very limited supplies). It did make me use papers from different collections and manufacturers together, which I must admit I don't often do.

 

My photo shows me on the beach with my Nan and Suzie the corgi in about 1962, and is scanned from a colour slide. I think it is Woolacombe in Cornwall but will check when I go home. Someone (Mum or Dad I expect had built some sand castles and written my mane in shells. 

My journalling reads:

Magic Spinner

Happy Birthday To George.

Catherine took George out to London last night for his birthday. She purchased tickets for them to see Darren Brown. So she wanted me to make a card to pop the tickets into.

I had been meaning to try out the idea of making a spinner card for a while and so cut a
 magician character with the Cricut and the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. I used a Craft Creations large card bank.
The patterned paper is from Magnolia and was mounted onto some card to stiffen it. then a slot was cut through the two using the Word Window Punch from Stampin' Up. The character is mounted onto two pennies with some 3D foam pads in between and one of these coins lays either side of the slot. The whole thing is then mounted onto the card blank with more 3D foam to hold it away from the card a little. Then hey presto, it spins!

I then added some miniature playing card from a Christmas cracker set. The greeting is a stamp from a Stampin' Up hostess set of birthday greetings.
So happy birthday George and I hope you both had a lovely evening at the theater. Hope you like the card too.

Happy Birthday Robert

 I made this card for my West Ham fan, brother Robert for his birthday today.

The base is an 8" x 8" scalloped card blank fro Craftwork Cards.

The papers are both by Magnolia - 'Winner Takes It All - Soccor' and 'Bon Voyage -New England Stripe'.

The 15 large footballs were stamped from Stampin' Up's 'Goal' set.

All the other stamps - Shirt, shorts, small ball and greeting are from Little Claire Designs 'Football' set.

The Greeting was stamped onto white card, and punched with the 1 3/4" circle punch, then I added small balls around the edges, inked the edges and mounted onto a 2" scalloped circle. This is mounted raised with 3D foam.

All the large balls were cut out, some were stuck directly to the base, others were raised with 3D foam.

The shirts were stamped onto claret, blue and white paper, and the parts cut out and pieced together again.

Baker's twine was tied round for the clothes to hang from.

Thinking of You Cards

I recently purchased the Country Life cartridge for my Cricut and had some fun playing with this. I spent a while recently looking at some of the magazines and on-line and adapted some of the ideas I saw there.
A useful source is Cardz TV with Mary on You Tube

This card uses the pitcher from Country Life with a bow instead of stripes. The mat is made from the Lacy Labels cartridge. The papers are mostly from Magnolia and a selection of Bazzill cardstock.  The card blanks are from Craftwork Cards and Craft Creations.

3D foam pads, chalk inks and some flat back pearls and gems complete the cards.

I have not added greetings to the fronts, as they have all been made for friends who need a cheering up. I have added personal greetings inside each one.
