52 Christmas Crackers 2014 - Week 51

Here is my card for week 51 and this time it is a photo prompt for inspiration. A delightful Christmasy picture for the penultimate challenge!


So here is my version:


Rummaging through my Christmas stash I found these corrugated card Christmas trees from may years ago. I cut up a large doily. The paper and sentiment are left over from this year's Papermaze Layout challenge kit.
I added twine, lots of pearls and snowflake stickers.

52 Card Challenge 2014 - Week 43

A photo inspiration prompt for week 43 - in the form of a Pinterest pinPlease see Kool Kitty Musings Blog for details of the challenge.

Here is the delicious prompt photo:


I went with the blue and white print paper like the fabric, texture from the fabric ribbon with velvet hearts, woodgrain / burlap colouring in the ribbon behind the hearts. I found a scalloped circle to set off my greeting like the cookie edges.

A congratulatory card for my snail sketching son Andrew, he had just been accepted for a research post at the University of Sussex. All the best with your job and your studies Andrew.

  I used the snail from a pack of Basic Grey Lemonade Woolies I picked up in the Papermaze sale.

I was hoping to add my Christmas card but there will be a delay as somehow my DH managed to place an open distress ink, face down on top of the finished card - shame I hadn't taken a photo first. He was trying to help me with the unpacking of my craft stuff!!

52 Card Challenge & Christmas Cracker 2014 - Week 40 - Say What?!

We have a photo prompt challenge this week. Please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog for details of the challenge.

This week's prompt is called "Say what?!" {Pinterest pin}


The focus is on words and making your greeting or sentiment stand out in some way - I used my Cricut Explore and the Word Collage cartridge. With the drawing facility I created my background papers. 
Here is my first card:


I used a fine pen and the stitching related words together with Basic Grey's Lucille collection of papers and embellishment stickers. I added lace, seam binding ribbon, buttons and pins.

Then onto my Christmas card using the same Cricut cartridge.


I used a thicker metallic pen in the Cricut this time. I added organza ribbon and some glittered chipboard pieces I have had in my stash for years!

  • Colour palette featuring: white, charcoal, grey, coral, gold, blush tones
  • Hand-drawn frames/doodled borders (frames from the patterned paper collection)

52 Card Challenge and Christmas Cracker 2014 - Week 34

It's week 34 and we would normally be returning to the prompt jar for inspiration this week, but as Natty has been away she didn't get a chance to pick the 3 elements and take a photo of them so she has come up with this clever alternative.  A photo and a list of 3 elements from the photo include on the card:

52 Card Challenge 2014 - Week 33

Last week was time for another photo prompt. Please see Kool Kitty Musings Blofor details of the challenge 
Here is my card - I went for a baby girl card.




Here is the image given for inspiration - lots to choose from here. I took my inspiration from the flamingos and had some Basic Grey Sugared collection papers tucked away in my stash which were ideal. When I opened the pack I found I also had some Chipboard pieces left including - a flamingo!

I used patterned papers, element stickers, alphabet stickers and chipboard pieces all from the same collection.

I added:
Card blank from Craft Creations
Stickles
Flat-backed pearls & gems
Bazzill cardstock.

52 Card Challenge - Week 31

Morning All!It's time for another sketch prompt over on Kool Kitty Musings Blog
and this week's inspiration comes from Mama Elephant:

I kept quite closely to the design with this simple card to thank my friend Hilary for a late birthday surprise.


I finally got around to using my Hello, Doily stamp by Stampin' Up with some Brilliance ink and white embossing powder.
The denim effect paper is from October Afternoon - Farm Girl collection.

52 Card Challenge - Week 30

Week 30's challenge is based on a technique-based prompt. It's all about achieving the look of negative die-cutting. For details of this challenge please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog.

Here is my birthday card for my daughter's boyfriend George.  They are away on holiday so I gave him his card a little early:


I filled my aperture with a Stampin' Up treat cup filled with water!

The background paper is from My Mind's Eye and the stickers and other papers are from BoBunny's Barefoot and Bliss collection.
I added flat-backed pearls and gems and cut the greeting with the Cricut.

Monday 30th June saw the start of the week 27 challenge and we are back to a colour prompt for inspiration. 


I was asked to make a card by my daughter to give a friend who is having a baby shower soon.

While we don't have to use every single colour in the palette on the card, a simple selection of our choice of the colours is all that is required.

52 Card Challenge 2014 - Week 28

My card for this week was created using a photo prompt:

There are a lot of lovely features in this set of images - I picked out the fancy frames and a banner from the 'Victorian Romance' cartridge. I used black and white Bazzill cardstock and aqua patterned paper from Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry collection. My silver letters are 'Peel-offs' and I have embellished the frames with some Liquid Pearls. The frames have been built up with 3D foam pads.

This week's prompt is a sketch prompt but Nat didn't have a drawn sketch for us to follow, instead she had a card design for us to use as a jumping off point for the layout of our card.

Here is the card Natty made for a wedding:


Here is my version. I wanted to make a pearl wedding anniversary card for my friends Mark and Hilary who were married only a few months after us. So not only was the layout of this card ideal, so was the theme and some of the images.
