The family history:

EMMA GOLDFINCH/STOKES 1844-1934
Born 22 May 1844 in Eastry Union
Workhouse near Deal, Kent
Died 24th January 1934 age 89
Hounslow, the home of her daughter Ellen (Nell) Reeves nee Tandy.
Emma’s mother was Mary Ann Goldfinch born about 1824 in Ham, Kent. Mary died in 1863,
possibly in the Workhouse.
Emma’s father is not named on the birth certificate but he may have been William Thomas
Valentine Stokes b 1810, Walmer, Kent who later married Mary Goldfinch in 1850. They had
about 5 children, at least two of whom died young. Emma later takes the name Stokes
when she left the Workhouse to act as a nurse to a family in Gillingham in 1861 (see
Census). She puts William Stokes as her father on her marriage certificate to George Dawson but enters nothing on her marriage to her first husband George John Tandy.

Whilst in the employ of Captain Richard Hanford of the 7th  Royal Fusiliers she must have met and married George Tandy (1841-1881) a Private also in the 7th  Royal Fusiliers. They married on the 22nd November 1864 in Deal Parish Church (see Marriage Certificate).

They had at least nine children in various locations depending on where the 2nd Battalion were stationed (see family trees and censuses). George Tandy died in 1881 at Pembroke Hut Encampment aged about 40 years. Emma then meets and married another Private in the 7th Royal Fusiliers called George Frederick (Thomas) Dawson (1850-c 1910). They married on July 24th (?) 1883 St. Stephen’s Church Hounslow. (It is probable that George was stationed at Hounslow Barracks by then). Emma and George had only one child Frederick Thomas George Dawson born on the 4th July 1885 in Hounslow (see birth certificate for details). He became the father of Greta Sylvia Dawson by his marriage to Edith Alice Girdler (1897-1975).

That's all for today, I will be back with part 2 soon, thanks for looking.

Palais Royal - Kisoque des Noctambules

Here I am, back with the last layout using the Papermaze September Kit. The final travel destination themed page and another Parisian layouts featuring the artwork of the Metro station kiosks.

It is called 'The Kiosk of the Night Walkers' and has two cupolas - one representing day, the other night.

Inspired by Jane Austin

This is another layout I made using the February Papermaze Kit. Emily enjoyed a weekend leading a series of Playford dances, popular in Austen's time at a public event held in Wentworth Woodhouse. It was a project she took part in with the Nottingham Folk Dance Club, and was performed in historical costumes she made herself.

For all the details on papers and embellishments used and how I made the layout, please see the Papermaze blog - Scrap Paper Scissors.

Together We Are Family

I really like these chalk board effect papers by My Mind's Eye - Chalk Studio II collection. Great colours against the black and white.

The photograph was taken by my father when the triplets were about 7 months old. We dressed them up in their Christening clothes a few days before the event for  photo shoot. Rare to have a photo of all five of us together:

I used:

52 Card Challenge & Christmas Cracker 2014 - Week 40 - Say What?!

We have a photo prompt challenge this week. Please see Kool Kitty Musings Blog for details of the challenge.

This week's prompt is called "Say what?!" {Pinterest pin}

The focus is on words and making your greeting or sentiment stand out in some way - I used my Cricut Explore and the Word Collage cartridge. With the drawing facility I created my background papers.
Here is my first card:

I used a fine pen and the stitching related words together with Basic Grey's Lucille collection of papers and embellishment stickers. I added lace, seam binding ribbon, buttons and pins.

Then onto my Christmas card using the same Cricut cartridge.

I used a thicker metallic pen in the Cricut this time. I added organza ribbon and some glittered chipboard pieces I have had in my stash for years!

Thanks for looking.
