I have been playing with my collection of Distress Oxide Inks including a few of the latest issue. Today I'm sharing the mother's day card I made for my lovely Mum, using some new dies from Crafter's Companion's Vintage Tea Party collection and lots of watercolour paper.
I created my coloured papers by spreading a selection of inks onto my craft mat and spritzing with water. Then drag the paper through the inks, dry with the heat gun and pull through the wet ink again. Then I used the Toppling Teacups die to cut four sets of cups and saucers. The Card blank is 6" x 6", so the background was trimmed to just under that measurement. Then the lettering was cut with a Crafter's Companion word die. I cut the doily several times in white card and chopped these up to create a background. Then I inked the edges of all the images and stacked the cups and saucers using 3D double-sided foam pads. Finally I added a touch of sparkle to the wording with Crystal Stickles.
Back with more cards soon.
Thanks for looking.

The Tea Cosy Story
Well it's been a long time in the making. Mum and I visited a wool shop in Shortlands called Little Woollie, London. Mum fancied getting her knitting needles out again after a long break and was inspired to look up a wool store nearby. What a lovely little shop, full of great project samples and wool, together with their own patterns. The lady serving was very helpful and friendly.
Mum was taken with a tea cosy sample in the window and I agreed to make it for her as a Mothering Sunday gift, as this event was two weeks away I felt I had plenty of time to knit it. I planned to buy the pattern and sort out wool from my stash, the lady explained the pattern was £2.00, but free with the kit for the project which was only £6.00 - great value. I decided to buy the kit so I could get straight on with the project and I loved the colours. We purchased a few other items as well and were very pleased with our shopping trip and eager to get on with our knitting.
I made a start and the pattern turned out to be easy to follow, you knit two sides then joint together to knit the top. I finished one side, and as I started the second side it became clear there would not be enough wool to finish the job. I studied the pattern and checked my work and could not see any errors, so I emailed the shop, explaining it was a gift for mother's day. They were quick to reply and promised to send more wool.
Time went by and I thought I would have enough to make the flowers for the top, while waiting for the postie to arrive. No matter how I tried the pattern did not make sense! In the end I stopped trying and planned to have another go the next day - I thought maybe I was not reading the pattern properly.
The next morning I had an email from another member of staff to say she had designed the tea cosy and just realised she had made an error in the pattern. She sent me the corrected version and I was able to make up the five flowers in no time.
A few days before Mother's Day and no sign of the wool, so another email was sent, this time the reply informed me the owner was at Ally Pally and not able to get to a post office, she apologised but she had missed the point that I needed it for mother's day. On the Monday morning I received another email to say the wool had been posted first thing and it arrived the next day, so I was able to finish the cosy off.
Mum is now the proud owner of her tea cosy at last.
Little Woollie London is well worth a visit and have some great products and designs. As well as wool they sell fabrics and they run classes too.
Thanks for looking.

Mothering Sunday Card
I used cardstock and some patterned paper scraps to make this shaped card using the Cricut and the Country Life cartridge. I cut two shadows in brown to make the card base. The basic shape was cut in green to give me the leaves and stalks. Then I cut the jug in patterned paper and the flowers twice so I could off set them.
I inked the petals in pale pink and added yellow buttons to the centres with some green soft cotton thread to create large daisies.
My greeting is made with a Lili of the Valley sentiment stamp and Memento, yjo ws punched out with a Woodware circle punch and inked around the edges with pale pink. Next this was mounted with foam pads onto a green punched circle (Stampin' Up) and a white Woodware scalloped circle. All was tied in place with some green organza ribbon.
Thanks to this challenge, I'm ready nice and early for Mothering Sunday which is 30th March in the UK. Just as well my Godmother dosen't read my blog! I have another hidden away for my Mum, which I will blog on the day.
Happy Mothering Sunday and thanks for looking.

Multicoloured Organisation!
I'm a bit behind in writing about Mothering Sunday. I was very lucky and had a super bunch of flowers and five cards, one each from Andrew Catherine and Emily, one from my God mother and another from my hubby.
I have been using the Cricut a lot lately, and for cutting out various images I have been using up loads of scraps of Bazzill. I was amazed how much I had accumulated over the years. All my scraps go in a big box under my desk, but I could rarely find the colour I wanted. I decided to sort them out and ended up with many stacks of different coloured card. I needed somewhere to store them so I could make good use of them.
My three lovely offspring clubbed together for and got me this fab storage set of drawers (Really Useful Boxes), as a gift and they are ideal for the job. I can now find what I want when I need it. No more cutting into a new sheet of 12"x12" cardstock for a small image for a card or layout.
Here it is after being filled and wheeled into place in my craft area.

Although it was during term time, Catherine and Emily were here for the weekend which made it really special.
Thank you Andrew, Catherine and Emily.

Happy Mother's Day Mum xXxXx
We had a lovely Day, my brother and Elaine brought Mum and Dad over for lunch. Catherine was home for the weekend and was here with her boyfriend. Emily arrived home for the Easter break yesterday. We missed Andrew who has another two weeks at Uni before he can come home for a break.
We were still celebrating ACE's 19th birthday as well as Mother's Day.
Cup cakes
Cath and Emily with cake.
Mum and Dad
I was spoilt with lots of gifts. Thank you all very much x
(My lilies are still closed, so I will post a photo when they bloom.)
