Autumn Leaves

Here is the third layout I have made for the Design Team using the November Papermaze Kit.The lovely soft colours in this collection are ideal for creating layouts displaying photos of russet, wind swept foliage, fallen fir cones, berries and fields of pumpkins.

This photo shows Emily during her red hair phase. She was visiting Hall Place, Bexley to do an autumn photo shoot together with a fellow A level photography student. The photo reminds me of the line about autumn leaves from the 'Windmills of your Mind' song. Although I slightly changed the words for my long title, otherwise it would have been even longer!

From the Kit I used:
Pinkfresh Studio - Days of Splendor - My Favourite
Pebbles - Jen Hadfield - The Avenue - 2nd Avenue
Cocoa Vanilla - Day Dream - Sweet Serenity
Black Bazzill
Tando Creative Mini Tags pack
6 dew drops
5 paper flowers
24" Twine

From my stash I used:
Antique Bronze Distress Paint
"
Sizzix 'Vintage Lace' Sizzlit die
Gesso
Distress Oxide
Gilding flakes
Letter stickers

Once more from the November kit tomorrow.

Christmas Village

I had a great day yesterday at a Tando Creative workshop, led by Di Oliver and held at Albright Crafts of Diss.

Here is my finished village. We worked with MDF and Chipboard shapes precut and ready for building and painting with a selection of different medium. These included Distress Inks, fluid acrylics, Gesso, Snow Flux, crackle paint, antiquing cream and more.

I added some finishing touches at home. Sparkle was added to the numbers & snowflakes with Stickles. I also made the letters and berries shine with some Glossy Accents.

Thanks for a great workshop and I look forward to attending more.

February Maja Mood Board - Charlotte

Charlotte Allen is my great, great, grandmother on my mother's side. She looks as if she was a cheerful, loving lady and I just love these two photos of her. I would love to have met her. The pictures were given to me by my cousin Nina recently. Then, together with my friend Frances, and the help of several on-line family tree websites, we discovered her name and some dates. I will treasure these photographs and am in the process of sharing them all with my family too.

A little history -
Charlotte was born on 9th March 1838 in Deal, Kent.
She married David Williams (1837 - 1889).
They had seven children, six boys and a girl.
Their daughter was my great grandmother, Emma Jane Florence  Williams born 1866. Emma Jane married Frederick Holder (1861 - 1940) on 9th June 1886.
Emma Jane and Frederick had fourteen children, their fourth child was my grandfather, Ernest Charles Holder (1891 - 1971).
Ernest married Winifred Humm (1900 - 1974)
on 11th September 1926 and their youngest child is Mary Susan (b 1934) - my mother!
Using these treasures I created this layout for the February Maja Mood Board Challenge.

dreamy romantic colors

I really enjoyed playing with these delightful papers and the lovely photographs, I am away from home and don't have my usual supplies so I had to adapt my original plans.

I only have papers from one range by Maja Designs and so I was delighted that the challenge called for the colours in this particular collection. Translated is called 'Let's have some coffee'. The two papers I used from the 'Ska vi ta en Fika' collection were Söders Höjder and Sockerkaka.

I added two images from Magic Moonlight Free Images.

Doily
Clock face from Tando Creative
American Craft Thickers - letter stickers

Acrylic paint

Distress Inks in several colours
Deep embroidered lace trim from my grandmother's sewing box
Velvet ribbon

Heart Charm

Purple Frame phone charm from Primark & Initial 'C' from Making Memories alphabet

Flat Backed Pearls
Gem brads
Selection of blossoms from my stash
Rose buds from Snape

Martha Stewart Frond punch

Hope you like the story of Charlotte Allen.
Thanks for looking.

Notebook - Art Journal Style

At the Papermaze Christmas crop there were two 'Make and Take' projects to take part in.This note book was made with Carol. We were given a notebook and some Kraft cardstock to make a cover.

The background was created with acrylic paints. the stamp I chose was from Jofy. then details were painted in and picked out in white and black gel pens. The butterfly is chipboard from Tando and is treated in the same way as the background and stamped designs. I added a touch of Stickles for sparkle.
