Using Scraps

I was lovely to spot my card on other blogs.
I made a card using up the scraps after a Craftwork Cards Workshop and a photo of that card was put up on Julie's blog and also on the Craftwork Cards blog.

Beads and Cake!

Here are a selection of the bracelets Anita (Anita MacDonald - Anita m on UKS) makes. She makes all sorts of other jewelery too. They are all beautiful and it is difficult to choose just one, Catherine has chosen the pink one and Emily the purple. Anita sent me this one for my birthday, and I just love it, the colours are perfect (thank you so much Anita x):

Had a great day at Jilly Beans (Cardinal Colours) Crop yesterday, as always. As it was the first crop since my birthday, Linda organised an extremely chocolaty birthday cake and Anita made her fantastic Raspberryoffy (?sp) pie!

Here are two of my layouts from yesterday, the first is of the dance team rehearsing for dancing in Disney to 'Music is my First Love'. These pictures were taken looking down into the studio from the viewing window above. They are not the best quality, but they are all I have of the occasion. This was the afternoon before we flew off to America for Dance Excellence 2009.
I used Sweet Water, Classic Paper Collection and a Page Map from October 2008. The chipboard music notes are from Maya Road, and the chipboard letters are Crate Paper. I painted all the chipboard with cream or black acrylic paint and stamped with a swirl patterned rubber stamp in black or white ink. I then inked the edges of the shapes and added Glossy Accents to finish.

The second layout is also of the same occasion but a different dance. Here the girls are dancing to a selection of songs from 'We Will Rock You', starting off with 'Radio Ga Ga'.
This was created with another Page Map, this one was from December 2008. The papers and card stock sticker journalling block are from The 'Robotics' range from Sassafraslass.

The third layout I created is for one of the colour challenges so I will post that on another entry, and it's not quite finished yet!

Blue Sky

Today's inspiration is photos of Blue Sky's and we were prompted to share some of our blue sky photos, so here are some of mine:

Had a lovely day today cropping at Jillybeans (Cardinal Colours). I was spoilt by all as has been my birthday since we were last together. Managed to put together three layouts, all for the Hollywood Album and all about the dance rehearsals before our trip. Will photograph and upload tomorrow.

Inspiring Colours

Today is the fourth day of the colour workshop and this morning Shimelle posted a selection of her lay outs in a range of rainbow colours. This prompted me to look back through my albums at some old lay outs and select one for each colour of the rainbow too.

The challenge for today is to make a project with one of the combinations explained in the science / magic of colour combinations bit. I decided to be brave and go for the Split Complementary Combination and this is what I got for my colour spin based on this theory today.

These colours remind me of a range of papers by Basic Grey called Euphoria, so I will rummage through my papers tomorrow and see what I can find.

Spin the Colour Wheel

This morning's message from Shimelle is: "Today's is all about the magic (or science) of the colour wheel!" Above is my spin, just loved this combination. Now just waiting to see what comes next with this evenings message. Would love to scrap with these colours. Will check back later....

.... and later, the third challenge is to make something with your three-colour combination. Shimelle said "You can make whatever you fancy…a scrapbook page, a card, a quilt, a cupcake…" Had to smile as I made this Giant cup cake the other day with green icing and a purple candle! But will seriously make something else with the three colours, probably a layout of my daughter in a recent dance costume as her dress was this deep azure. Can't wait for some time to play now.

.... Here is my layout using my magic colour combo. My DD and her team preparing for dancing at Disney CA. This photo was taken looking down on the rehearsal from a viewing window above. Not excellent quality photos but all I could get in the hustle, bustle and excitement of the day before we left for the dance team to compete in America. They danced to Leona Lewis singing 'Run'. I used a selection of K and Co. Specialty papers. I used two sheets of the butterfly paper, so I could build up the butterflies with layers and 3D foam pads.

Rainbow Colours

The previous entry should have been dated 1st June, but it took me too long and by the time I hit 'publish' it was 2nd June! So here goes for the second day of the colour challenge - A Rainbow of Scrapbook Pages.
Today Shimelle said "If were talking colour, we've got to talk rainbows, right? Let's get the rainbow discussion started with some rainbow scrapbook pages."

Some of my favourite rainbow coloured paper ranges are Lime Rickey and Urban Prairie from Basic Grey and Surprise from Scenic Route.




Rainbow layouts that I have made in the past:
'Ever Changing Colours' was about my daughter's taste in clothing changing from all pink as a young child, to multi coloured as an older child, then to black, white and grey as a teenager. I machine stitched a black circle several times onto white Bazzill card stock. Then used letter stickers from various Basic Grey Collections. The journalling block was a BG stamp. This one was on the BG gallery for a while.

'The Eden Project' was again made with white card stock for the background and the multi size photos showing the different colours of the blooms mounted onto black card stock. I added a row of coloured brads in the bottom left. The title was created with the QuicKutz and Provocraft letter stickers. This page was designed for the Crafty Pastimes Design Team Gallery.

'Jack and the Beanstalk' was a LO to record the pantomime my daughter took part in last season. I used Basic Grey Colour Me Silly papers and a page map for this LO. I cut the image from the front sheet of the collection pack to go under the 'Jack' part of the title which is American Craft Thicker letter stickers. The other letters for the title are Making Memories Glittery letter stickers. The leafy 'beanstalk' is ribbon from Cardinal Colours. The little resin flowers have gems in the centres and are from Lakeland Limited.


It's a Colourful World' is a LO I made at a Scrapaholix retreat some years ago. the papers are by Scenic Route. It is a photo of my baby sister back in the 1960's.

This is my most recent rainbow layout, showing the 'Colours of Disney' from our recent trip to California. I used Rime Rickey papers from Basic Grey, and it was inspired by a LO by Allison Davis in the May '09 edition of Creating Keepsakes.

10.20pm Just updating to say I have read the second post for today's challenge and will have a go at using the tutorial and the rainbow border, but not tonight! Good night all x

Later that week: ...And here is my LO for this challenge, I printed the rainbow image onto photographic paper, and used it together with Basic Grey Lime Rickey papers. Just loved the bird paper! Used the front sheet from the collection pack for the journalling strip! Lots of metallic rainbow coloured dots from Paper Chase. The photos were taken on our last day in California when we visited Beverley Hills on our way from Venice Beach to Hollywood.

COLOUR CHALLENGE!

I had an email from Shimelle today at the start of a new on line class / challenge - Scrapbook your favourite colour - Colour Challenge. For the first day Shimelle asked us to 'Scrapbook our favourite colour', explaining: "And I mean pretty much any interpretation of ‘scrap’, so blog posts, photographs, paper or digital layouts, movies…anything that documents your favourite colour!" As I didn't discover the email or the challenge until late this afternoon, I decided to go for making a card. I did this in the style of one of my favourite scrapper/card makers - Nancy. I used lots of Scenic Route papers from several different lines.

I have already made a layout featuring my favourite colour when I attended one of Shimelle's classes over a year ago. We scrapped a photo of ourselves, using our favourite colour and a Pencil Lines sketch. Just in case there is absolutely any doubt, my favourite colour is GREEN!! (lots of shades of green and turquoise).

Spent some time today preparing some kits to take to the crop at Cardinal Colours (Jilly Beans) on Saturday. Last day off for a while as back to work tomorrow after a holiday. In the mean time I'm looking forward to tomorrow's challenge and hope I can keep up.
