I swiped a light shade of the chosen colour of Distress Ink onto the top of a piece of water colour paper spritzed it with water and allowed it to run down the paper while drying with a heat tool. Then I added a darker shade, but less ink this time and repeated the process. I repeated this on a smaller piece for cutting the butterfly later.
Once dry I inked the edges with another darker shade of ink and a mini blending tool. This was then mounted onto a piece of dark cardstock and then onto a card blank.
I created a paper stencil using a Tim Holtz Alphabetical Decorative Strip die from Sizzix and inked through this to give the shadowy lettering design.
I cut the butterfly from the smaller inked area and a shadow from dark cardstock. I used the Tim Holtz Mini Detailed Butterflies Thinlits dies from Sizzix.
The greetings are Crafter's Companion Dies.
Coming soon - the same technique using Distress Oxide Inks for a different effect.
Happy Birthday Catherine and Emily.
Thanks for looking.
