A Winning Combination

A winning combination - that is Jill and Jane. Jill of Cardinal Colours hosted a Floral Punch Craft Workshop run by Jane Gill on Saturday. We had a lovely day learning lots of the techniques needed for the art of flower punch craft.

Here are my efforts along with photos of Jane's cards so you can see how they can be used. All the punches and tools can be purchased from Cardinal Colours.

The rose I made using a heart punch.

And a beautiful card made by Jane with the same type of roses.

This is a cornflower and made with a sun ray punch, stamen punch chalks and copy paper.

Here is Jane's pretty card.

I loved making this card with 12 tiny hearts punched from paper.

These two cards Jane made using the same technique but they are punched from coloured vellum, giving them lovely deep colours.

This is a make believe fantasy flower using the Lilium Feathes punch, the stamen punch, a daisy punch and chalks.

Jane showed us this card using the same idea but more layers.

We also made daisies.

  

This Tiger Lily was made using the Liliun Feathers punch again.

This flower uses the Cherry Blossom and stamen punches.

 

... and various leaves.

At the end we made a Christmas tree, using the Lilium Feathers punch.

This is Jane's Christmas Card.

Craftwork Cards Workshop

Here are the other three cards from Julie's recent workshop. Using all Craftwork Cards products. I love the way this one folds, and the papers a lovely too.

The blossom is created by scoring two retro daisies and the centre is made out of card candy.

As I was not at the actual workshop and made up my kit a week later I did not have the templates for making the flowers.  Linda lent me a floral die, which you can layer and thread up with ribbon (must ask her what make it is). I also used Linda's MS Butterfly punch.

This last card is fun to make with Angelomania papers.

This picture shows how the front is cut to form a cross, and the inside decorated with card candy.

Happy Birthday Hilary

I missed the Craftwork Cards Workshop on 26th June as I was working, but my friends Linda, Jill and Liz went along and claimed my kit for me. Then last Saturday at Jill's crop I made my cards with these three great card makers to show me what to do.

This is the first card made using the dog template, CWC papers, greetings, blossoms and card candy. I have sent it off to my friend Hilary as it is her birthday today. Happy Birthday Hilary x.

Oliver for Oliver

I just love these new papers from Basic Grey called Oliver, and they really suited the photo of little Oliver in Cornwall last month, when he was captured gazing out to sea.

I made this layout in response to the challenge on this week's Saturday Challenge on the Scrap, Paper Scissors blog from Paper Maze.

This is the sketch:

The pleated ribbon has a chain of shell shapes which I rescued from some old sandles before throwing them away. The ribbon s thanks to Anita. The quote is written on a red Bazzill stamped first with a custom made journalling block stamp and surrounded with half a sticker from the BG element sticker sheet.  It reads:

The details on the right of the photo are on another journalling block sticker from the Oliver collection pack. I added a lot of card candy from Craftwork Cards.

Garden Girls

These photos take me back a few summers to when my 18 year old girls were babies. I remember my mum came over and we played with the children in the garden on a swing we had created between two apple trees. These photos show both the girls delighted with their daisy chain head dresses. Andrew was busy driving round in his Noddy car! (This was the subject of a scrapbook page years ago.) May 1993 - 14 months old.

For my version I used Petals in the Sand, from the Rusted Sun collection by Fancy Pants, these were purchased from Paper Maze, and the Bazzill was from Cardinal Colours. The brads are from American Crafts and the title letters are by Doodlebug Designs also purchased from Paper Maze.
The patterned paper is double sided so the blue dots show through when the paper is cut and folded back. I used two sheets of this paper. The flowers from the second sheet were cut out and layered with 3D sticky fixers onto the first..

3 x Trouble!

I made this layout at our monthly crop at Jill's (Cardinal Colours) on Saturday. Another great day with good company food and time to craft in peace - what more could I ask for!! The photo shows my niece, Heather's triplets taken last year at home. A rare photograph of them all together, taken by my SIL Marion.

I created this layout after being inspired by the work of my talented friend Alison.

Alison in turn, had scrap lifted craftystash whose stunning layout can be seen on the UKS website.

I used DMC stranded cotton thread, Fancy Pants papers from the 'Rusted Sun' collection. They papers are double sided so only two sheets were needed to provide four different patterns. I used Umbrella (stripe and yellow flower) and Sunny Day (blue flower and red). These were purchased from Paper Maze. The black beetle Bazzill and the white eyelet Bazzill were both purchased from Cardinal Colours, along with the 6mm double sided tape for creating the pleated circle. 

I also used some dies I borrowed from Linda for the flowers (must ask her what make they were). The centres of the flowers are Card Candy from Craftwork Cards. The stitching along the bottom of the photo and the zig-zag were created with the help of the Bazzill basics stitching templates from Paper Maze. And finally the title was made with Sizzlets Party Block alphabet dies.

Bon Voyage 3am!

This was Catherine at 3am this morning packed and ready to go off to Zante for a week with her friends. It has been a long time in the planning, but the exams are now behind her and she has arrived safely for her first holiday abroad without us or a friend's parents!
