Baby Card

Following yesterday's post about the baby Box, her is a card for the same Mum-to-be.

Using the same papers and Cricut Carts.

It's an easel card made with a Craftwork Cards 8x8" Card with Card Candy.

Baby's Treasure Box

My sister-in-law, Barbara asked me to make her another box. She wanted something to give a friend who is about to go on maternity leave. A box for her to store all her baby memories in.

 I started off by searching for a suitable box. I found this Christmas posting gift box, sold as a flat pack and as it's January it was marked down to £1.49.

 I reshaped the box a bit in places and added a ribbon tab to make opening easier.

I added some brads and double sided tape here and there to strengthen the box.

I used a selection of papers from DCWV to cover the box, and the animals were cut using my Create a Critter Cartridge and the Cricut.

Happy Birthday Alan!

Happy Birthday to my 'Knight in Shining Armour'.

I do have to apologise to Alan for being out all day as I had to work till late. We plan to go out for a meal together tomorrow.

Alan's card was made with a stamp from the Medieval Kraftin' Kimmie's set. Available from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie.He is coloured with my Promarkers and mounted on some very old Basic Grey papers.

I used a strip of embossed aluminum across the card where the patterned papers join.

Happy Birthday Jamie!

It's my great nephew Jamie's 7th birthday today. He is a West Ham Football fan so when I say this stamp I knew it was just right for Jamie.

I didn't have my Promarkers with me so coloured this image with watercolour paints. I used lots of scraps of Bazzill and some patterned paper (can't remember where this is from). The letter and number stickers are Thickers from American Crafts, available from Jilly at Cardinal Colours.

Sunrise at Buckingham Palace

A to Z Challenge 2011 - 'B' is for Buckingham Palace.

As I was travelling to the Park Lane Hotel for a course this week I decided to arrive a little early one day and took a walk across Green Park to photograph Buckingham Palace for the challenge. It was very cold and frosty and just getting light as I arrived. I think these look good as sepia prints too.

Happy Birthday Jessica

Jessica is five today and I made her a card with my Cricut and the Once Upon a Princess Cartridge.

I cut all the pieces from scraps of cardstock and made up the Mermaid. There are papers from Creative Imaginations, stickles for glitter and perfect pearls.

Putting The Flags Out

I made Jills card using papers and a card from Craftwork Cards (on sale in Jill's shop).  The flags were stamped with banner stamps from Technique Tuesday. I stamped them directly onto the card, and then onto the patterned papers. The tiny bows are also in the mini stamp kit. I cut the papers and layered them over the card with 3D foam pads.  The letters were cut on the Cricut.

I made these two cards below, they are simple and very quick to make using Craftwork Cards Products from Jill's shop.

Dress Up 2011 - January

I came across this challenge on UKScrappers and followed the link to Angela's Blog - Sew Loquacious, to learn more. The challenge is to make a mini dress each month. Each dress will be "themed" around an artist or artistic movement. The dresses can be made from any material(s) and can be any size you prefer. There are NO rules, but for those interested in a "template" for a dress, there are a few examples on Angela's blog.

The theme For January's Dress is ...Impressionism


Angela explains: "Impressionism, French Impressionnisme, developed mostly in France during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Impressionist painting comprises the work produced between about 1867 and 1886 by a group of artists who shared a set of related approaches and techniques. The impressionist style of painting is characterized mostly on the general impression produced by a scene or object and the use of unmixed primary colors and small strokes to simulate actual reflected light.
The principal Impressionist painters were Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Sisley, Morisot, Guillamin, and Bazille. Degas and Cezanne also painted in an Impressionist style for a time in the early 1870s. Edouard Manet adopted the Impressionist approach about 1873."

I picked Monet (these images are from Google) for my inspiration).

 I made a dressmakers dummy template and made up a dummy with flesh card fro the body, this was cut out and inked, then stitching detail added with a brown pen. I used aluminum tape to cut out a stand. Then with several shades of green and purple alcohol inks (thanks to Anita for lending me hers), I added a pattern to another piece of aluminum tape. From this I cut a bodice shape for my dress. I pulled apart a floral hair decoration purchased from Primark and used the petals to make a skirt. Where the skirt joins the bodice I added a string of purple seed beads.

Photography Challenge 2011 A to Z

Last year some of us enjoyed a year long challenge - 52 walks in 2010, aimed at getting us out and about with our cameras. I enjoyed that challenge, and it was a great way to explore new and old places every week and make better use of m camera.

For 2011 I've joined a new fortnightly challenge. The challenge is based over at Flickr. Feel free to join in by posting to Flickr, or if you prefer, you can do what some UKS members did last year, joined in with the challenge but posted photos to their blogs, and updated on the UKS thread.

The idea behind this group is to get out and about with your camera taking photos.
There will be a new letter of the alphabet for every fortnight. So every two weeks we take photos of people, places, things, or even techniques, starting with that letter.
