F is for Frost

A to Z photography Challenge 2011

I have just returned from a brilliant weekend of crafting at Debden in Essex. We have had a relaxing time with great company, food and lots of laughter.  On Saturday morning we woke to the very pretty white world of frost. Anita and I went for an early morning walk in the grounds and took photos.

A to Z 2011 - D is for Dressmaking

For the D photos I have chosen 'dressmaking' as my theme. Inspired by Angela's post about flea market finds, I thought I would share these photos of bits I have treasured of a similar theme. I have quite a collection of old dressmaking patterns and other needlework treasures mostly passed down from my mother, but others purchased from charity shops etc.

Then there are all the lovely scrapbook papers I have treasured for scrapping about these and similar goodies as well as hand made items.

Here is a layout I made several years ago showing a dress my mother made herself. I scanned the drawing from the front of the pattern packet. The dress was red and white gingham.

A to Z Challenge 2011 - 'B' is for Buckingham Palace.

As I was travelling to the Park Lane Hotel for a course this week I decided to arrive a little early one day and took a walk across Green Park to photograph Buckingham Palace for the challenge. It was very cold and frosty and just getting light as I arrived. I think these look good as sepia prints too.

Photography Challenge 2011 A to Z

Last year some of us enjoyed a year long challenge - 52 walks in 2010, aimed at getting us out and about with our cameras. I enjoyed that challenge, and it was a great way to explore new and old places every week and make better use of m camera.

For 2011 I've joined a new fortnightly challenge. The challenge is based over at Flickr. Feel free to join in by posting to Flickr, or if you prefer, you can do what some UKS members did last year, joined in with the challenge but posted photos to their blogs, and updated on the UKS thread.

This challenge is called A-Z Challenge, and can be found here on UKScrappers.
The idea behind this group is to get out and about with your camera taking photos.
There will be a new letter of the alphabet for every fortnight. So every two weeks we take photos of people, places, things, or even techniques, starting with that letter.

I have chosen 'A is for Alphabet' for the first two weeks.
