Mixed media, in visual art, refers to an artwork in the
making of which more than one medium has been employed, thus we chose 'M is for
Mixed-Media' for the challenge.
Here is what I used and what I did:
I used a 12" x 12" sheet of greyboard, and plastered some texture paste randomly across the middle of the sheet. Once dry I coated the whole board with white Gesso.
To add colour I sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists in Black Cherry and Bell Bottom Jeans colours. I removed the lid and with dripped some more of the mists randomly on the page and let these drips run.
With some Bo Bunny Double Dot papers I cut three pieces 4" x 4", one in each of three colours - Frost, Slate & Boysenberry. I rounded the corners with a corner rounder punch and stuck them to the centre of the layout overlapping one another.
I chose a photo Alan took on his mobile, of me taking a photo at Lacock Abbey last October. I cut this down to 4" x 4", and rounded the corners again and this was mounted on top of the papers.
Next I added the embellishments. Two paper roses were inked and stuck to the right of the photo together with a gardenia (all from Wild Orchid Crafts).
I took a 6" x 6" piece of ivory spider's web, gathered and tied it in the middle with the twine and the ribbon (a short length of purple baker's twine and narrow plum satin ribbon). I added a white leaf shaped decorative pin. This was all stuck down to the bottom right of the photo, just below the roses.
To the bottom left of the photo I added three labels cut from spare papers with a Stampin' Up decorative label punch. I also cut four fronds using a Marianne Die, the spare papers and a piece of vellum, they were only glued down at the bottom end.
Finally I added a little journalling to one of the 4" x 4" squares and a title to a label with American Craft Thickers alphabet stickers.
The challenge closes at midnight on 5th August 2013 so pop back to the original blog post on the Scrapology Blog dated 1st July for details for this challenge.
