He's Behind You!

When Catherine was in panto - Jack and the Beanstalk, she was asked to play an extra role. That of the gorilla.  She had to wear a huge suit with gloves and mask. It had to be a very quick change so someone had to stand by and help her into and out of it (she was wearing another costume underneath), because she had to be back on stage a few minutes later too. She really enjoyed this role and had great fun, if a little warm!

I used some old Cosmo Cricket papers from my stash together with some brown Bazzill. I punched all round the edges with Linda's Martha Stewart punches. The swirls were cut with the Cricut. The blossoms were coloured with chalk inks and stickles, the centers are flat backed pearls and crystals in various browns and oranges. For the title I used American Craft's Thickers - grey velvet. I do like these self adhesive letters, but they don't stick well. I had to stick most of these letters down again with glue.

The layout was inspired by the work of Lynn Beirmann. I just love the way this talented scrapper uses black paper and card with her patterned papers.

I will take another, brighter picture when the proper August weather returns and change this one.

Butley Priory

52 Walks with My Camera In 2010 - week 31

Butley Priory is set in the wilds of the Suffolk coast, between Rendlesham Forest and the sea, this fairytale 14th century monastery has been beautifully converted to offer luxurious accommodation.

The accommodation booking sites claim - "With its striking Gothic exterior, Butley Priory has been carefully restored and sensitively renovated to offer beautiful accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis."

I mentioned Butley Priory on this blog back in October last year in a post called Busy Weekend.

Exciting news about tomorrow!

Tomorrow sees the official launch of our brand new blog....its called 'Scrapology - Adventures in Scrapbooking...'

I have started this project with my friends and fellow scrpbookers, and I am honoured and thrilled that so many talented scrapbookers are willing to be part of  the design team.  They are an amazing bunch of girls.  So please do drop in on their blogs (all linked from Scrapology) and see for yourselves.

The idea is that Scrapology is a place where you will find your mojo ( especially, if like several of my scrapping friends, it had recently gone astray).  We aim to provide monthly inspiration for all scrapbookers (experienced  and new) by providing scraplifting challenges, sketches and samples. It will be somewhere to share ideas and encourage each other to use different techniques and products along the way.

We hope that you will visit us and join in with this new adventure. I thought I would just pop this little sneaky peek here of one of my first versions of a scraplift, so why not pop along and become a follower and come play with us!

Mostly Monochromatic

I have been very busy these last few days getting a new venture underway. More of that later. I finally found time to make this card for the Kraftin Kimmie Challenge this week called Mostly Monochromatic.

This is one of the new fairytale Kimmies, Goldilocksfrom Elaine at Quixotic Paperie. I used the 6x6" Basic Grey pad and mostly my favourite colour - GREEN, with a little hint of pink too. I was asked to make a card for a sic yea old girl, by a friend, so here she is! I used blossoms, buttons, pins and ribbons from my stash and they are all firmly held in place with some diamond glaze. I used my promarkers to colour her in.

Variation on a theme

Just a while ago I posted about a layout I made called Garden Girls. It was a scraplift of one of Anita's layouts.

I made another one in completely different shades. This time it features photographs of my mother taken by my father before they were married. I will need to ask her for more details. The papers are another range by Fancy Pants. This time I used Rose Petals from the Wishful Thinking line. The lettering for the title is from American Crafts.
