Day 29 JYC - Looking Back

Most people are back to the world of work today, but I have some time off as I have to work 'on call' on Friday, which will be a bank holiday for the new year. Today is a chance to catch up, or make the cover of your Journal. Well as my journalling this year is on this blog rather than a book, and I already made a festive header, I was wondering what to tell you about today.

Then I remembered a small album I made a couple of years ago at our Blossom Babes Crop at Debden. I used pictures scanned from slides of my childhood. There were many pictures among them of my family Christmases during the 1960's.

Mid Way Between

Day 28 JYC - Indulgences.

Today's prompt for the mid way between Christmas and New Year is the subject of indulgences. I discussed food last time so thought I would look at something else this year.

I had some cash for Christmas and as I had already been given my Cricut early, back in November, I thought I would treat myself to a couple of cartridges for it. I have selected from the new ranges. I'm looking forward to Paisley and Heritage.

Stockings

Day 23 JYC - Stockings

Today's prompt is all about Christmas stockings.

I recently found this photo of two stockings I made for Deborah and Richard's daughters, about fifteen years ago. I reversed the charted images so the stockings could hang either side of the fireplace.

My page from two years ago showing some velvet stockings I made from the same pattern as the two above. I used silk, lace and some cross stitch angel designs. The angels were free Christmas Angel charts from Lavender and Lace.

Day 20 JYC, Sorting Ribbons:

Today's prompt was about the unexpected, this gift was totally unexpected and I love it:


Alan brought me this lovely white washed trug for Christmas by East of India from John Lewis.

As I planned to have a sort out of my ribbons this box seemed a great place to store them. The ribbons were in plastic bags, sorted by colour but all loose in bags - they have been such a mess. I can never find what I want. It's also a lot to take along to a crop.

I have made a start at sorting them, by cutting grey board into strips to fit into the trug.

Lots more to do but I have made a start!

Dear Santa

Day 19 JYC
For today's Journal entry we were challenged to use something Santa related. Running short of time I took a look at some old photos and layouts. The photo above is of Alan with Santa in the Co-op Dartford and several years ago I scrapped this photo:

A few more cards

Made a few more Christmas cards yesterday. No matter how many I make and / or buy I always need a few more!

Some with the Cricut Christmas Cartridge and some with some Patchwork Pals stamps. Others are with Woodware stamps. Good fun.

JYC Day 12 Christmas Past


Her is a page for my family scrapbook album using this month's Scrapaholix kit. I found his old photograph and the colours of my had knitted snowflake jumper were perfect for the Gemstones Cardstock and the My Mind's Eye 'Merry Days of Christmas' papers. The title is from the Designer's Calendar Cartridge for the Cricut.

I used Linda's Martha Stuart snowflake corner and border punch set. The snowflakes are from a variety of sources, last year's Scrapaholix kit, some Thickers, and some Basic Grey.

The photo shows me with my nephew, Mark. He must have been about 17 months old here.

Oh Christmas Tree ...

Day 11 Oh Christmas Tree ...

Last year we got this super bas for the tree, saves spending hours messing about with the trunk making it small enough to fit the old plastic one. Also holds the tree upright, we can water it with this base too, so much less shedding of needles.

We always have white light, hundreds of them!

Wrap it up!

JYC Day 10 Wrap it up!

This year I have chosen red and gold for my packages, with lots of bows and ribbon.

The kids are not really into stockings anymore but still enjoy having a collection of smaller bits and pieces to open n Christmas morning. I have to say I enjoy shopping for them most of the year, whenever I see something appropriate. For the last few years I have picked out a roll of paper each and wrap their gifts so they are 'coded' so to speak - saves labelling them all!

This year Alan went to an auction in Suffolk and bought this lovely wooden chest.

So I have been wrapping gifts for when all the relatives come on Christmas eve and popping them in the box. Then I plan to fill it with the kids gifts after they go to bed on Christmas eve - if they go to bed before me!
