Medieval Monochrome

Having tried the sepia colouring I decided to try the monochrome, using another tutorial on the Passion for Promarkers blog.
This time I used all five shades of cool grey. The stamped Images are from Kraftin' Kimmies medieval collection. They were purchased from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie.

We started out at Trafalgar Square and took some pictures there.

Sepia Colouring

Some time ago there was a tutorial on the Promarker blog about colouring in sepia tones. I have been meaning to give it a go.  Thought it would work well with Florence and Jack (Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps), from Quixotic Paperie.

I used the following colours:
Satin (colour the whole image at the start, and use to blend colours.
Pastel beige
Sandstone
Cinnamon
Caramel
& Umber

The completed cards using Basic Grey Infuse papers.

Vanilla Fairy Cakes

I made these cakes today using a recipe from a magazine called 'Good to Know Recipes' .  Carnation condensed milk is used in the cake mix and in the icing.

They are very smooth and creamy and the 100's and 1000's add crunch!

They went down well with my bunch!

Felixstowe

52 Walks with my Camera 2010 - Week 21

The weather has been lovely all week and I planned to spend my day off at Felixstowe, and go for a walk with my camera. Sadly it was cold, overcast and started raining! I still did my walk and here are the photos.

I started at the top of the cliffs at the colourful beach huts.

Then went onto the Leisure centre and the pier area.

The place was deserted, no doubt it will busy very busy next week as it will be half term.

The pier.
The lights were on but no one at home.

On the beach.

As I drove away the sun came out!!!

Beach Belle

Having made a card for my brother with Jack, I wanted to use Florence another Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp for my daughter Catherine. This is also for the Passion for Promarker Challenge this 1st Anniversary week.

I stuck to the same papers and colours with the promarkers. The greeting is from the Designer's Calendar Cricut Cartridge. I love this stamp, another cheeky character who reminds me so much of my daughter.

Here are the two cards together.

The stamps are available fro Elaine at Quixotic Paperie.

Red, White and Blue

This week over on the Passion for Promarkers blog they are celebrating their anniversary.  The theme for this weeks challenge is 'Anything Goes!'. Why not take a look, there are some examples from the new design team members and some great prizes.

I have used my Promarkers to colour this new image 'Jack' from Kraftin' Kimmie (from Quixotic Paperie.) The title is from the 'Sweet Treats' Cricut cartridge. All the patterned papers are Scenic Route's Liberty range of papers.

Here is a closer look at Jack.

He is so cheeky, reminds me of my brother when he was little. It's his birthday soon too!

Wedding Vacation

Here is my layout for this weeks Scrap Paper Scissors (Papermaze) Blog, sketch challenge.

This is the sketch we were challenged to use. It's a Page MAp from September '09.

I flipped it over and used this photo of my three children taken at the wedding of our friends Helen and Adam. July 2004, Beer in Devon.  We had a holiday in Devon to include the wedding.  The children would have been 12 years old at the time.

The patterned paper is from a seasonal collection by Scenic Route. The small blossoms were from Lakeland when they used to sell craft products (what a shame they decided to stop).  The larger flowers and ribbon are from my stash.  The branch was cut using the Storybook Cricut cartridge. The title was from the Designer's Calender cartridge.

How Charming!!

This weeks challenge from Krantin' Kimmie is to use charms on a creation.  I have used some old seashell charms from my stash on this card. I used one of . my new Bathing Beauties Kimmie stamps. This one is called Eleanor and she is available from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie. I used some old Scenic Route papers, and matched the colours with my Promarkers. I added some blossoms and brads to match the flowers on her bathing hat.

Greenwich Royal Park

52 Walks with my camera 2010 - Week 20

My birthday was a lovely sunny day and my daughters and their friends are 'into' birthday picnics, so they wanted to take me for a picnic in Greenwich Royal Park.  So armed with lunch, a blanket and cameras we set off. We parked at Blackheath and walked through the park, and admired the view over London from the top. The we strolled down through the park to the village. We had a walk around there, before trekking the hill back up to the top again to have our lunch, and sat in the sun reading for a while.

The next three photos show The Royal Observatory at the top of the hill in the park.

The next three photos show the view from the top of the hill over The Thames and London.

Walking along King William Way, just outside the park we saw this sculpture through the railings of a building called Devonport Court.

As we stood and looked an American lady let herself in through the gates and asked if we would like to come inside and see mores closely. She asked if we knew what it was, and we all thought it was some kind of fish.  She told us it was a chair or throne. and invited us to sit in it. The girls insisted I went first as it was my birthday!

It is a brass sculpture by Francois Hameury, Brittany.  Commissioned by the Cathedral Group plc. 2003. It is The Throne of Earthly Kings and is known as "The Seat of Knowledge".

The quote on the platform reads: "May all who sit here have the courage to be true to themselves. The world is a kingdom for those who search inside."

This is all you can see of the Cutty Sark at present as it undergoes repairs.

These dogs made everyone laugh, parking their van in the village!!
