Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside!

I have been playing with some arcylic paint and JOFY stamps in my art journal.
The scenery was made using tissue paper, Kaisercraft music notes stamp and a black archival ink.pad. Followed with several colours on Acrylic paint and some sand effect paint. I stamped the beach huts onto printed paper from an old book. The sea plants and grasses are created with a Tim Holtz stencil, texture paste and distress inks. I created bunting using the scraps from the text paper.

This was fun to create using several different medium together.

Triptych with JOFY

Last weekend I attended a class designed and taught by Jo Firth Young at That's Crafty. We all had a great day and created a beautiful piece over three panels.

This project involved Greyboard, Fresco Finish acrylic chalk paints, JOFY stamps, embossing powder, pens and inks in black, brown and white.

A good day and at the shop and class, thanks to all involved.
Thanks Jo.

Nature Study x 3

In the end I created this layout three times, all slightly different. This first one uses a photograph of my cousin's daughter Rosie photographing the poppies on holiday in Tenby last summer.

This one will go into Rosie's album and was my initial design for the Papermaze crop kit.

Bazzill Cardstock in Glass Slipper & Smooth white
Patterned paper - Maja Designs (version 1)
Pebbles, Home Grown, Flower Garden (versions 2 and 3)
5 Black Dew Drops
Sewing machine with Black threadDistress Stain Barn Door
Fine Black Marker Pen
Making Memories Magnetic date stamp
Black Ink pad
1” Circle punch
Water Spritzer
Heat tool
3D foam pads

White letters for 'Nature' - Basic Grey
Black letters for 'Study' - Hobbycraft (Versions 1 and 2)

Black letters for 'Study' - Cricut (version 3)

This is the version for the Papermaze Crop kit for August, made up for the crop using papers and products from the shop.

I chose the patterned paper for it's blue pattern, but love the floral pattern on the reverse and wondered how it would work with a black and white photo - here is the result:

For the last version I cut the word 'Study' using the Cricut from black cardstock and inked the white letters with black ink to make them stand out.

Hope you like it Rosie

Bird Crazy Card for Sam

My nephew Sam, celebrated his birthday on Monday and here is the card I made for him. I used the Tim Holtz Bird Crazy Stamps together with some JOFY stamps.

My rainbow bird card was created with:
Tim Holtz Bird Crazy Stamps
JOFY stamps
Distress Markers
Water pen and spritzer
Black pen
Watercolour paper

I layered up the bird by cutting all the pieces and using 3D foam pads. The leaves were added to the branch in the same way. Finally I drew the hat, coloured and cut it out and added it to the bird. The finished card is 6" x 6".

Hope you had a great birthday Sam.

Emma and Frederick

Just finished off this layout which was a Papermaze crop kit from a few months ago when I was unable to attend. This is another layout for the Holder family album.  The photo is my great grandparents Emma Jane Florence (Williams) and Frederick Henry Holder. It must have been taken in the 1930's.

The kit contains:
Bazzill cardstock in Kraft and Greystone
BoBunny Heritage - Ancestors, Register, Heritage and Lifetime
Twine
Lace
eyelet
mini rose

At the crop I used:
Sizzlet alphabet die
Sizzlet mini film strip die
Sizzix Weathered Clock die
Black Liquid Pearls
Kaisercraft clock stamp
Iron fence die
Leaf punch
Branch die

I added:
Selection of small paper blossoms

Another great crop kit designed by Vanessa.

A Crazy Bird for George

IT's Geroge's birthday today and I made him a card with my new Crazy Bird stamps from Tim Holtz. I was lucky to be able to buy this set 2nd hand as they seem to be out of stock everywhere at present.

I had lots of fun with my first attempt. I stamped him onto watercolour paper cut him out and coloured him with Distress markers and a water brush. I stamped him again onto the patterned paper and stuck the cut out version over the top. I drew the hat with a fine sharpie marker, then coloured in the same way as the bird.

The card blank is 6" x 6", the patterned papers are from a 6" x 6" paper pad by Teresa Collins - Vintage Finds.
I made masks for the hills and the sun from scrap paper and used Distress Ink in Mustard Seed and Rusty Hinge.

I look forward to making more bird cards with these crazy guys!

Happy Birthday George
