I have started work on a crochet blanket which is one of Stylecraft's Crochet Along projects (CAL), designed by Jane Crowfoot. It was first issued one block at a time, gradually increasing in complexity and guiding you through building on your crochet skills as you make all the blocks needed to complete the blanket.
Jane's blog is called 'My Life In Knitware'
There is a page on facebook to share your progress with others
and some handy & You Tube videos to help out with new stitches.
I purchased the Wool - Stylecraft Life DK Colour Pack from Deramores, such a lovely colour scheme, 14 balls in 11 colours. I selected the crochet hooks I would need, downloaded the free pattern and got started.
The first block is called 'Stripes and Waves' and is created four times. Please bear in mind these pieces need blocking.
This was mostly a case of revising the basic stitches, as my crochet skills were a little rusty.
Onto the second block and this one is called 'Tiny Lily'.
This one involved a little hand stitching in the flower centres.
The third block is called 'Lily Bud'.
So all together I have created 12 pieces and I'm ready to move onto the next block which will involve learning more complex stitches I have not tried before, So I think I will need to watch a few of the You Tube videos.
So far it's been great fun reviving old skills and working with these great colours and lovely wool. The pattern is easy to follow and had been written in great detail.
Back with more soon.
