The Seven Sisters

I had plenty of paper, Bazzill and some embellishments left over from the Papermaze Kit for January, after making five layouts for the Design Team. This time I have a used a sketch for inspiration.

From my journalling : “My mum, my daughter and I have all been enjoying the Lucinda Riley – Seven Sisters stories. The series follows the sisters, and begins as their adoptive father, who  they call Pa Salt, dies. They are each given a clue as to their past. Each book is the story of one of the sisters as they trace their origins all over the world.

The sisters are each named for one of the stars of the Pleiades (‘The Seven Sisters’) constellation. So far we know about six of the girls, but there is mystery surrounding a seventh sister, and her story is to be published later this year and is called ‘The Missing Sister'.
We are waiting impatiently!!”

From the kit I used:
American Crafts - Vicki Boutin Stroyteller collection - Stardust
Echo Park - Winter Magic collection - 4 x 4 Journalling Card
Simple Stories Sn@p alpha stickers
Tango tag
Bazzill White and Admiral

From my stash I used:
A Paige Evans cut file and silver card
mini letter stickers
Large
eyelet
Baker's Twine
Silver thread
Star sequins
Sizzix Thinlits Delicate Alphabet Die set
Silver glitter foam

For this layout I used a sketch by Jana Eubank, although I adapted it so much it's no longer much like the sketch!!

That's the last of my layouts from the January kit, hope you like them - six layouts has to be good value for money!

Thanks for looking

First Day of School

This is another layout for the Peartree Cutfile January Online Crop. This one is for Challenge 3 as set by Rebecca Birch. The idea this time was to create a layout with a cutfile and inspired by the phrase ' trust in the magic of new beginnings'. I also used a sketch by Jana Eubank from 2010 for this layout.

This is a photo of my son, Andrew on his first day at primary school in 1996. The reception class teacher took a photograph of each child.

For this layout I used:
Simple Stories, Say Cheese collection
Bo Bunny - Kiss the Cook collection - Menu
Black Soot Distress Ink
Basic Grey Letter Stickers
Black Bazzill
Circular punches
Circular journalling stamp

I chose this cutfile:

Thanks for looking.

Portmeirion

This challenge set by Shimelle during the Online Scrapbooking Weekend was ideal in getting me to create the second page of a double spread. I had made the first page at Debden back in March and as yet not shared this on my blog. Partly because I felt it was unfinished and also it needed another page to complete it. I have so many lovely colourful photographs from this amazing place. We went on a day trip while staying in Snowdonia National Park back in 2004. We had a great day despite dodging the frequent rain showers!

The challenge is called ' Grid It Up' and Shimelle said "Create a project with a grid as a design element! You can interpret that any way you wish! Get creative!"

This is the right hand page of the double page spread, I made in response to the challenge.

This is the right hand page made in March.

Here are the two pages together.

For the grid I used this sketch by Jana Eubank and flipped it round.

I used:
Patterned papers from Basic Grey's Marrakech collection - Vanilla chai, calming moon, mandarin slice, palace blue, African nectar, masala bella, honey bush and 2 x Madagascar mint. Lots of these were scraps from older projects.
American Crafts chipboard letter stickers in stroll (mint). These were distressed with sand paper, dabbed with chalk inks and then had a thin layer of glossy accents added over the top.
Punches - Martha Stewart, Woodware, Satmpin' Up
Cricut - George and Basic Shapes cartridge
Fancy Pants - Fancy Free rub-ons
A couple of molded embellishments from my stash.
8, 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" photos and 3, 4" x 6" photos.

Thanks for looking. The weekend is over but the 13 challenges are open until next weekend. I hope to snatch time to do a few more before then, but have a busy week ahead.

The Magic of Christmas Eve

Here is the layout I made for the Scrapology Challenge this month. The project was based on this double layout sketch we chose from Jana Eubank.

I used a collection pack from My Mind's Eye called 'I Believe' available from Jill at Cardinal Colours. I picked two sheets of 12"x12" Bazzill Bling cardstock in red.

I cut narrow strips in green and trimmed them with the Martha Stewart holly border punch. I added this along the bottom of the the diagonal stripe paper. I added a few dots of liquid Pearls in red for berries.

The journalling blocks were made by cutting one of the die cut shapes into two and adding half to each page. The Title is created with American Craft Thickers in glittery red. The small letter tiles are stickers left over from another layout. I added the journalling detail by hand, and decorated the blocks with red gems. The one 4"x6" portrait photo was mounted on mint paper leaving a wide border at the bottom. I attached ribbon and a charm.

There was a lot of paper left after making the double layout so I made mini album too. I will share these with you later in the month, when I have taken some photographs.

I hope you will have a go at this challenge and share your layout with us on Scrapology.  The prize for this months challenge will be announced in a few days.

The photos were taken of my great nephew Jamie, at our house Christmas eve 2005. He was really taken with the nativity scene, and loved playing with the animals.
