Pigs Gone Wild - Part 3

Final day of our pig hunting in Ipswich in aid of St. Elizabeth's hospice, and we started at the railway station today. Surrounded by roadworks we found - Hamlet (37).

Swiftly on to Endeavour House to find A Pig's Year of It (5).

Not too far away was Portman Road and Ipswich Town Football Club - Planet Blue for the Porkman Road (28) pig.

Opposite The AXA building in Civic Drive was Frankensiwne (39)

Then onto the Curve Bar to find Elvis Porksley (27)

Willis was the location for Pig-Geswyk (24)

displaying old and new Ipswich

Idelo Travel had a junior pig in their window

Felix The Federation Pig (63)

Cromwell Square was the next stop and here we found Pretty Penny (3)

Pretty Penny was close to the Cardinal Wolsey statue and Piggy Stardust (2)

Hide and Seek (33) was at St. Vincent Hosue in Cutler Street.

A real treat was finding Jenny Wren's Yarns (a lovely wool shop) to which I can see I will be returning!! In the window of this delightful shop was a junior pig called Nature's Gone Wild (69).

Opposite this shop was another lovely place to shop for gifts called Love One - and another junior pig in the window - Maggie (65).

Back to big Pigs again, and at St, Peter's Church Waterfront we found Piggy The Sailor (16).

The Tourist Information Centre had two junior pigs

Onto St. Giles Circus and sadly the pig that should be here had been vandalised and taken to be repaired ...

Nearby was Major Henry Wigglesworth (36) standing outside the Chelsea Building Society. 

Inside the Town Hall stand three more junior pigs.

Just inside Sailmakers Shopping Centre we found the pig we missed last time -

At Tower Ramparts, outside Pennikkity Pots is Patches The RHS Pig (68) in his own little shelter.

Refuge (34) was at Credit Union 

Our feet were pretty tired by now, but we hiked up to Barrack Corner for

A little further still and we found Coes and two junior pigs in their window.

BIP (Believe In Pig) (43) and Pigcasso (44)

Time to track back now and we found Salt (22) outside Ipswich Museum

Last but not least The Great Piggish Bake Off (25) was outside Monsoon back in the shopping area. A good point to stop for a well deserved cup of tea before walking back to the car which was back at the station where we started!

Pigs Gone Wild - Part 2

Back to following the Pig Trail we started a couple of weeks ago in Ipswich. We were travelling to Suffolk and decided to divert to Ipswich on route to Rendlesham to take in some of the pigs that were on the outskirts of the town. Our first stop was Jimmy's Farm, somewhere we have been meaning to visit for some time. It was a lovely day to explore and we also managed to stop in time for a delicious lunch.

Near to the Restaurant we found Foodie Pig (15)

From the farm we drove towards Nacton in search of Holywells Park.

In the reception was the glittery Stymante (23)

and just across the courtyard in the stables were three more of the junior pigs:

Pigasus (47), ...

Hamlette (48) & ...

... Mudlet (49)

A little further along th Nacton Road we found another junior pig in the window of the Ipswich Building Society (Ravenswood).

The other area we decided to explore today was Christchurch Park.

We found two pigs close together on the east side of the park.

and another junior pig Digby (64) inside the Reg Driver's Centre.

Over to the west of the park we discovered our final pig for today - The Ham-inator (20)

38 out of 69 found so far.

Pigs Gone Wild - Part 1

We have herded elephants and round up sheep in London, hunted wolves in Bury St. Edmund's and  now we are are having a snout around Ipswich in search of Pigs Gone Wild. There is an app for the phone and you can download a map or pick one up from various places in the town. All is in aid of St. Elizabeth's hospice.

There are a total of 69 pigs to find in this interactive art sculpture trail. 39 adult pigs have been decorated by artists and sponsored by local businesses, they will be auctioned in September. The remaining 30 are smaller (junior) pigs and are grouped in litters around the town. The latter have been decorated by schools, community groups and local organisations as part of the 2016 Pigs Gone Wild education project.

We made a start on Friday and plan to return later in the month. Setting off from the Waterfront these are the pigs we found:

Hamlet of Ipswich (26) was outside the Cult Café.

A junior - Splatter Pig (66) was inside the café.

Then towards Neptune Marina we found the colourful Piñata Piggy (38).

Continuing along the waterfront to find Ed Sheer-Ham (4) set back at the University Campus Suffolk.

Further west along by Wherry Quay and Common Quay we found Pig n Mix (12) ...

... close to Ipswich Blue (11).

Nearby we discovered Little Sew Sow (21) at Briarbank ... 

... and To Bee A Pig (32) out side the Fore Street Baths.

Heading north the next pig to find was Pepper Pig (7) in the East of England Co-op, Education Centre.

Sir Bradley Piggins (14) is the pig at Cotswold Outdoor.

Then three juniors and a big pig in the Central Library

The small pigs were in a glass case in the library entrance, so difficult to photograph.

Back round to St. Lawrence Church to find Hedgepig (17) waiting outside.

Tally-Ho Trotters (10) was inside St. Mary Le Tower.

A short walk to La Tour Cycle Café for two Junior pigs, Mr Hog (45) ...

... and Piggy Stardust (46).

Further west to the Crown Pools and three little piggies (juniors) in the glass display high up on the outside of the building, so difficult to photograph. Here are all three Piggy In The Meadow (50), Katie The Rainbow Pig (51) and Pig In Camp Blanket (52).

Outsied the pool Spider Pig (19) can be found.

Across the main road to the Bust Station and A Pig's Got To Travel (13) can be found watching the traffic. 

From the bus station straight into Sailmakers Shopping Centre to find a total of five junior pigs.

On it's own at the Ipswich Building Society was Bridget (57).

Four together - Jimmy (53), Union Jack Pig (54),  Jack's Beanstalk (55) and London Skyline (56).

Also in Sailmakers a final big pig - Major Tim Pig (9) before calling it a day!

We will be back to look for more - 29 out of 69 found so far.
