The Kiff Family

Here is a heritage layout I started making years ago while at a retreat. I had put it away and forgotten about it until I was sorting through some Basic Grey papers for another project. I think it started off being inspired by one of BG's sample layouts at the time.

The patterned papers including the doily and element stickers are from Basic Grey's beautiful Marjolaine collection. The lettering shows up better IRL, difficult to photograph in this poor light.

I added lots of Stickles, Liquid Pearls, gems and pearls. The lettering is created with American Craft Felt and chipboard stickers and Simple Stories tiny letters.

The Kiff family are related to me through my maternal Grandfather. Florence (Florrie) Dorothy Holder is my great aunt (1894 - 1964) married to Charles (Charlie) Kiff (1890 - ) and their daughter Vera Enid Kiff (1922). They all emigrated to Vancouver in Canada in 1926.

Alfred William Humm - Heritage Layout

After making a male heritage layout last week of my Great Uncle Bill, I used the same paper collection to scrap this photo of another Great Uncle, this time is the turn of Alfred Humm.

I used:
Patterned papers & Element Stickers - Kaisercraft Pickled Pear Collection
Letter stickers - Simple Stories - Snap for dates and middle name and American Crafts Thickers for first and last name.
Dies - Memory Box
Other embellishments - Twine, brads, buttons, acrylic paint, label from Fat Face dress, chalk ink,

My hidden journalling reads:

"Alfred William Humm
Known as 'Alf'
Born 8th February 1902 in Wandsworth, London to Henry William Humm and Susan Dunn. Alf was one of six children.
Alf married Edna Ellaline Bryan Holder on 26th May 1928.
They had two daughters Joyce and Janet.
Alf died in May 1994 in Eastbourne, Sussex

The complication in our family tree is that Edna's brother Ernest married Alf's sister Winifred (Ernest and Winifred were my grandparents)."

Head Over Heels In Love

This is my design team layout for the November Scraplift challenge on Scrapology,

My daughter and her boyfriend George have had a busy year and not had a lot of time together as Catherine is on tour with a theatre company. The photograph was taken when they took a week off together and travelled to Turkey back in August.

This month we've chosen this brightly coloured, fun layout by Carmen Crosseti Henriquez. Carmen's blog Scrap Joy can be found here.

We drew a sketch as always.

For my layout I used:

Patterned papers from Bo Bunny's 'Head Over Heels' collection
Background 'Prince Charming'
Hearts and thin strip are all from 'Head Over Heels'
Wide strip is ''Ever After'

Heart paper clip - Making Memories
Letter Stickers - American Craft Black Foam Thickers - Elm
Thread - DMC Dark Grey
Sew Easy Tool - We R Memory Keepers
Ink - Festive Berry Distress Ink
Number Buttons - Doodlebug Design Inc.
Flat-backed pearls and hearts - various suppliers.

Thanks for looking and I do hope you will create a layout and enter the challenge.
