All the Fun of the Fair - Bressingham

Here is my layout for Paige Evans' SKETCH OF THE WEEK - 22nd April 2024 challenge. The sketch is given on the facebook group page, along with a youtube video. You share your layout on the page, to be put in a random draw to win the challenge.

You can see my brother and his wife and me riding the Gallopers at Bressingham, Norfolk  a few weeks ago.

A Perfect Memory

This layout has been in the making for some years! It's travelled to many crops and it's finally finished. I got the idea from the clever scrapper Elaine Rolfe and a layout I saw in the Scrap 365 magazine. 

The photograph shows my gran (Winifred), with her two children (Peter my uncle and baby Mary my Mum). 

I used some old Basic Grey papers and stickers from the Curio collection. The magnolias were fussy cut from the papers and layered with 3D foam pads.

New Home

One of the exciting events of last summer was my daughter and her boyfriend buying and moving into their own home. This is the second of my layouts using the January kit from Merly Impressions and the Kaisercraft Ubud Dreams collection of papers. These papers have such lovely designs and colours.

This photo was taken on the evening they moved in and we all met up for a small celebration before all the hard work began! They had both worked very hard over the last few years meaning that they saw little of one-another at times, however this made it possible for them to save for their deposit.

Again I made a few changes to Chrissy's lovely original design.
I used machine stitching rather than hand stitching and my title was made with some old K & Co. alphabet stickers. I also added some resin flowers from my stash.

Catherine and George are currently working on the bathroom, having transformed the bedroom and with help from many members of the family cleared tons of rubbish and jungle from the neglected garden.

Peas in a Pod

I have used a photo of my three little babies back in 1992 when they were seven months old. There were so many different colours in the photo I decided to convert it to black and white.

52 Christmas Crackers 2014 - Week 21

Here are my two Christmas cards for the Kool Kitty Musings Blog card challenge. This week it is a sketch prompt:

This has got to be the quickest card I have made! I was looking through my Christmas papers with the sketch in mind and found a very old sheet of K and Company paper which already had a border and these 3D Christmas ornaments, all I did was flip the sketch, cut and ink the paper and I was done. I had enough left to make a second smaller card - so I did (after all, the paper would have just sat in my box for a few more years otherwise.







The front of both these cards was then glittered up a little and I used some greeting stickers from the same company. I had the plainer 12" x 6" piece of the paper left so I used this to decorate the inside of each card.

52 Christmas Crackers 2014 - Week 14

Back with my Christmas version of the Kool Kitty Musings challenge for week 14 with the photo inspiration prompt.

Here are a few ideas from Natty to kick start creating thinking:

I used:

* Patterned papers - K & Company 6" x 6" paper pad (Herringbone/chevron pattern - turned into irregular checkered pattern!, Muted/natural tones)

* Stickers - Anita's Dimensions Poinsettia and holly leaves - dimensional effect as stickers are only sticky in centre and have fold lines, they are pose-able (free with a magazine years ago). (with one bold colour)

* Greeting stamp - Lili of the Valley
* Punches - Woodware and Stampin' Up

* Inks - Memento and Distress Ink - Old Paper (Muted tones)

* Stickles - Silver to coordinate with the silver on the stickers.

* 3D foam pads
* Card Blank - Kraft Cardstock

Happy Birthday Nina

I was asked to made a card by my mother's cousin Janet - for her daughter Nina's 55th birthday which is today. Janet told me the wording she wanted both inside and out and sent me a photo of Nina when she was a little girl to be included on the front.

 

I made an easel card with an 8" x 8" white card blank.

I punched along one edge with a deep edge punch by Martha Stewart. 

I used some K and Co. papers with tags.

I typed the messages and printed them directly onto the tags.

 I punched lots of flowers and leaves using various punches, they were inked and gems and pearls were added.

I made her name with the Cricut 'Cherry Limeade' cartridge.

 

I used Stampin' Up circle and scalloped circle punches to make a stopper for the easel.

March Scrapology Challenge Layout

Here is my layout for this month's design team on Scrapology, using this photo of sweet little Esme from our visit to her and her mum Amy back in October last year.

The layout was made with these ingredients:
K & Company green letter stickers.
Prima pink songbird vine
Bo Bunny Love Bandit collection - Birdie die cut, Bee mine, Nuts 4 U.
Stampin’ Up Aviary stamp set.
Stampin’ Up ink pads in Calypso Coral, Island Indigo, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade and Rose Red.
Journalling block stamp - custom made
4 x 6” landscape photo
Stickles – crystal and lime green
Gems

Here is how I made the layout:
Gut the green side of ‘Bee Mine’ paper so you have a 12” x 12” - 1” frame, stick the ‘Birdie Die Cut’ sheet centrally over the green frame.

I Stamped bird cages in a variety of colours across the centre of the Die cut Sheet, add birds to the cages. Stamp more birds and cages onto smooth white card, and cut out leaving a fine white border around each image.

Using a Technique Tuesday Template, cut the outer shape from the pink side of ‘Be Mine’ and the inner, smaller shape from white side of ‘Nuts 4 U’.

Ink the edges and mount the white shape centrally onto the pink shape. Build this up with 3D foam pads and mount into the centre of the layout. Mount photo onto a piece of the green side of ‘Nuts 4U’. Mount the photo towards the top of the Big shape.

Stamp a circular Journalling block and mount this onto a circle of green paper. Add the journalling details and stick to the top right of the layout overlapping the photo slightly with 3D foam pads. Arrange a selection of bird cages around the journalingl block, some raised and some directly onto the layout.

Arrange the vine down the left side of the layout. Add a cage to the top branch so it appears to be hanging from the vine. Trim off a couple of flowers and add to the journaling block..

Add title with the glitter stickers under the photo. Then add stickles and gems to the cages and flowers.

My Little Scholar

Really catching up now with the layouts from the Cardinal Colours Retreat lat month. This double layout was again designed by SJ. The papers are from the Dots and Stripes Collection by Echo Park and included three double-sided papers, as well as letter stickers and element stickers. I flipped the red and blue papers and used the dotty side, rather than the stripes, but kept the stripes for the green paper. The kit also contained Metal Art, flat backed self adhesive brass effect, squares and dots by K & Co. The photo looks a bit wonky, but the layout is quite straight - honest!

Your Journey as a Scholar

The photos show our son, Andrew on his first day at St. Paulinus Primary School, then his first term at Dartford Grammar School and then Just about to leave home for University last Summer.The journalling tells a bit about each place and wonders what will be next. Wishing him well with all his studies and future.

Before You Go!

A layout I made after the Cardinal Colours retreat.

Together with Linda, I assisted in SJ's class when she taught this page, but brought my kit home to play afterwards.

The class was called 'White Space'.

The glazed Bazzill cardstock is spritzed with two colours of Tattered Angel glimmer mists, then the xcess mopped up to show off the glazed pattern.

Patterned papers are from an 8"x8" pad by Glitz Designs, from a collection called 'Afternoon Muse'. The flowers were cut from these papers and the patterned strips were cut and trimmed with border punches.

The text photo mat was taken from an old gardening text book, crumpled, torn and inked.

The green glittery alphabet stickers are from K and Co.

I used a random selection of buttons from my stash.

The tag s made from patterned paper, it has hidden journalling and is attached with butcher's twine.

Most of these items are still available from Cardinal Colours.

My photo was taken on the day before my daughter Emily returned to Nottingham for her second year of university. The journalling tells of how I wanted one last photo before she went away again. She is pictured with her treasured possessions as a student of creative and professional writing - her notebook / diary, kindle, Filofax and beloved camera.

Beautiful Bows

This weeks Kraftin' Kimmie challenge (Week 38) is to include a bow on your card.

Here is my easel card using Kraftin' Kimmie's 'Polly' from Quixotic Paperie. The papers are from an old 6 x 6" K and Co. wedding paper pad. The greeting is from Stampin' Up. I have used chalk inks, glitter, pearls, perfect pearls, ribbon and blossoms from my stash. I used a Marther Stuart border punch and the Stampin' Up scalloped circle punch.

Accordion Cards Part 1

Some time ago I promised to share the cards I made for the magazine 'Quick Cards Made Easy'.  I did about two of these then forgot.  So I plan to resume this idea now.  Starting with the cards I made for an article about making accordion cards.  I was asked to make a selection of different cards and they had to be quite quick and easy to make.

I started off with how to make a basic accordion card, then gave details about decorating each one.

Using a 12”x12” sheet of card stock I measured out with ruler and pencil 30 x 14cm rectangle and cut with craft knife and metal ruler. Then I used a pencil and ruler again to mark out 7.5cm intervals across the length of the card, ending up with four sections and three lines. I scored these lines with a metal ruler and embossing tool.

Then I folded the card concertina style, so that the first fold is on the right side of the card when closed. A bone folder or ruler run down the length of the folds to make a nice sharp fold.

The first card is a baby boy card which is 12 x 7.5cm.
I used blue card as a base with scraps of yellow card. Baby boy buttons by Craftime. Rubber stamp alphabet by Hero Arts. Turquoise dye based ink pad. Glue dots and Baby Boy die cut card stickers by Doodlebug Design.

The next one is a wedding invitation. I used lilac card. Paper Roses from Hobbycraft. Juliana die cut alphabet by K & Co.

Around the edge of the sticker sheet is a fine (6mm) border, I peeled this away from the sheet and used it to frame each panel of the card, mitering the corners for a more attractive appearance.
I used the letters to spell out ‘WEDDING’ on the first panel and ‘DAY’ on the second panel. Picking out the ampersand and the bride and groom’s initials for the third panel and the wedding date on the fourth panel.

I selected a mixture of white and purple roses and applied them along the bottom of the first and fourth panels, where they will not become squashed when the card is closed. From the sticker sheet I selected flowers and insects to add more decoration.

The third card is a beach party card. I used beach and balloon buttons by Craftime, a fine black pen and sand print paper by PSX. More Juliana die cut alphabet by K & Co. and the Highlight LET font on the computer.
This time I used blue card and cut to 30x14cm. Score and fold at 7.5 cm intervals. I cut a strip of sand print paper to 30x8cm. Using the computer I typed in Highlight LET font the details for the party. I printed this in landscape format with the lettering to the right side of the paper. Then I cut along the top long edge following the wavy pattern on the paper and stuck it along the bottom of all four panels of the card.

Next I took the Juliana letter stickers to spell out the words ‘BEACH PARTY’ and arranged them in a wavy pattern above the sand. The buttons were then arranged and stuck down with glue dots. I drew strings from the balloon buttons so they appear to be tied to the letters and the sand castle.
