Day 5 (Thursday, 6th October)
85 miles from one B & B to another today, with some interesting stops and beautiful scenery along the way. Our first stop for a charge was the car park behind a cafe we visited last year. Tomintoul in the Moray area claims to be the highest village in the Highlands. We charged here while we had coffee in The Old Fire Station. There are some really lovely gift shops here too - selling all sorts of local hand made goodies.
We aimed to stop off at Culloden if possible on this trip as we had not been able to do this last time, and the weather was ideal for walking around the war graves. My kind of history, I remember studying all this at school too. I have enjoyed many books set in the period - especially enjoying the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon. We looked at all the exhibits inside the Exhibition centre and then moved outside to the battlefields - and so quite a few photos now follow:

We were able to eat outside the restaurant before moving on towards Inverness, and our next B&B Sealladh Sona beside the Caledonian Canal. A very well presented guest house where we were again made very welcome to our comfortable home for the night.

Caledonian Canal |
Late afternoon we took a walk along the canal.

Then crossed the River Ness over the footbridge and on into Inverness.
Next we will share Loch Ness.
Thanks for looking
