Make a Wish

It was my sister's 50th birthday back in April and I was looking through the photos of the celebrations and thought it would be good to scrap this photo of her with the gift we gave her.

This was made in answer to this week's C.S.I. challenge #40

Talk about last minute - the challenge closes in a few hours!

For my Evidence I used polka dots and stripes, Scalloped ovals for my journalling, banners using Stampin' Up punch, Numbers from My Little Shoe Box Tiny Type letter stickers. 

 For the TESTIMONY I chose to use bows on my journalling spots using light Fimo Clay and Martha Stewart clay moulds, painted pink. Three round journalling labels cut from Basic Grey's Basics papers. I used inspiration words - Wish, Special, Happy in my journalling.

The main papers used in this layout were left overs from a Girl's Paperie project I did a few years ago - Paper Girl.

The chipboard word 'WISH' was in my stash - I painted it pink and added a lot of glitter in the form of Ice Stickles.

The flower brads and felt flower strip has also been in my stash for ages, and I added some Paperchase flat backed stickers.

The embossed words 'Birthday', 'Happy' and 'Family' were stickers from a Making Memories kit I found in my stash. I think the big pink fabric Blossom is also from MM.

I used a Marianne Designs die and green cardstock for the leafy swirls.

The scalloped ovals were cut with a set of Sizzix Dies.

A very happy occasion with the family all together for the day. We had a meal at Eden Park followed by Andrew's Apple Pie Cake. your gift was the pink Filofax you wanted and a pen. x

Seaside Style 1963

I love this photo, another one scanned from a colour slide. My mother and me on holiday at St. Mary's Bay. I love the way she was dressed for the beach in this beautiful stylish dress and bolero she made herself. Topped off with a straw sun hat.

I created this layout with the left over Girls Paperie patterned paper scraps from the April Scrapology layout. Just added a sheet of Dotted Swiss Bazzill for the background, tow decorative pins a little ribbon and a brown luggage label. I used various sizes of retro daisy punches. The Technique Tuesday banner stamp was used in a similar way to previously. The Cricut was used for the title.

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream!

Here is my Design Team layout for the April challenge over on Scrapology. The technique was creating a banner -'B' is for Banner.

The photo shows me on a bench at New Romney Station while on a family seaside holiday back in 1963. Waiting for a train ride on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway.

This is the sketch I drew from the original layout by Sarah Youde.

I purchased my papers and stamps from Paper Maze.
The stamps are Technique Tuesday and called 'message in a banner'.

The papers are by Girl's Paperie.

Vintage Patchwork

Shabby Flower 

 Diecut newsprint

The background is diecut newsprint and is single sided, the other two are vintage patchwork and shabby flower and they are both double sided, giving me five patterns to play with. In fact many more than five as the patchwork sheet has many designs on it, which was great for the purpose of different patterned flags.
I cut the horizontal bad from the blue side of the patchwork piece making sure I was keeping the patterned bit from the other side that I wanted for the flags. It's worth taking a little time with this to get the most from your sheet of paper. I trimmed the edge of this strip with a Martha Stewart border punch.

I cut the tickets using the Tim Holtz Alterations Ticket Strip Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die and decorated each ticket with 'Just the Ticket' stamps produced by Imagine That.

The flags were made by stamping directly onto my layout. I drew a light pencil line first as a guide as to where to place the stamps. Then I stamped the flags again onto the patterned papers on the patchwork paper. They fit beautifully inside the squares. These were cut out minus the frilly edge and attached over the flags on the layout with 3D foam pads to raise them off the surface of the layout. I then added in stitches by hand using DMC embroidery thread.to link the flags together.

Happy Birthday Anita

Happy birthday to my lovely friend Anita, we have been scrapping all weekend at Debden, so Anita had her card yesterday.

Hope you like he card made using a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp from Quixotic Paperie. She is from the Nifty Fifties, and although Anita is so much younger that that, she loves these stamps. I made a couple of vinyl (card) discs to go on the card too. The flat back pearl stars are also from Quixotic Paperie. There is also lots of glitter, which doesn't show very well in the photograph. The paper is from The Girls Paperie from Paper Maze, and the letters are Basic Grey. The card is a new shape from Craftwork Cards.

Twine with bows on!

This week's challenge over on Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps blog is to use Twine or Floss on our cards!! She says that can be baker's twine, scrapper's floss, embroidery floss, jute, linen thread....anything stringy!! When I visited Vanessa at Paper Maze today she had some of this twine with tiny bows attached. I can't even tell you where it's from or who makes it!!  She gave me a sample to try - so here it is!

The Kimmie stamp I used is 'Snow White' and she is coloured with my Promarkers to match The Girl's Paperie (also from Paper Maze) scraps I had left over from a layout. The greeting and the card base is from Craftwork Cards. I mounted the greeting on punched shapes created using Stampin' Up oval and scalloped oval punches.

Happy 40th Birthday Elaine

Today is Elaine's 40th Birthday.  We will all meet up tonight for family meal at a restaurant in Bromley.  I made Elaine a card using papers from the Girls Paperie. The card itself is made from Bazzil's Dotted Swiss cardstock. I used the Cricut for the numbers and the butterfly. Then various punches for the flower, border and the hearts. I added lots of ink and bling!

Going Dotty!

The week 56 challenge from Kraftin' Kimmie is to make a card using dots. I have used one of the new Kimmie stamps 'Mona the Seamstress' prchased from Elaine at Quixotic Paperie. I wanted to make a birthday card to a fellow stitcher. The papers are from The Girl's Paperie - Paper Girl collection from Paper Maze. and some Dotted Swiss Bazzill Cardstock from Cardinal Colours. I coloured Mona and her machine with my Promarkers.

It's a bit dark for taking pictures inside, but hope you get the picture.

I added glass to her frames with a touch of Glossy Accents!

I re-stamped the image onto patterned paper and simply cut out the fabric. Which I then stuck over the original image - more spots. Then I added a little floral lace, gems and some perfect pearls.
