My second class kit layout from this summer's Merly Impressions Retreat features my daughter Emily in the fox costume she made for her character Gebb. The papers were excellent for these photos as they were from Kaisercraft's 'Mister Fox' collection.
The layout was designed by Chrissy Tingey. this class involved Kaisercraft Mister Fox papers and Collectables & Kaliedascope butterfly punches. Martha Stewart punch around the page punches, and hand stitching.
I added some American Crafts chipboard Thickers
Flowers and fronds made with three different Martha Stewart punches
A button, stamen & Distress Inks.
Here is Chrissy's original layout:

Craftilicious Carry All III
There followed a second one I made for Catherine in pink and black as requested. Both of these were made in January and I purchased materials to make one for Emily at the same time, but only got around to making this at the end of March.
Happily I got time to finish her bag in woodland animal themed fabrics just in time to send to her for her birthday.
They always look better when they are in use full of equipment, but it was good to post as it folds flat easily when empty.
Happy birthday Emily and I look forward to joining you to try out the new over locker!
Thanks for looking

Emily's Graduation Layout
Vanessa designed the lovely page for the Papermaze Crop last weekend, and here is my version of events:
I have been meaning to scrap some photos from both the girl's graduations ceremonies last summer and the colours in this kit were perfect for this particular picture of Emily standing in front to the Swimming pool at Nottingham University just before her ceremony.
The papers in the kit are Prima Delight - Destinations, Amy Tangerine Yes Please - Consistent & Understand together with three different colours of Bazzill cardstock (Chantilly, Malachite & Truffle). Because of the black in the gown I changed my Truffle cardstock for black. There was also twine in the kit.
We had the use of Evergreen Bough Distress Ink, and Memento Summer Sky Ink with a script stamp and some circular masks made freehand by Vanessa. There was also a selection on Martha Stewart border and deep border punches, some dies and other punches, Liquid pearls and a Tim Holtz alphabet Sizzlets die.

The Phoenix
Here are a few photos of her modelling the costume in the garden, back in September. I couldn't reveal the photos until her friend had unveiled the costume at the first event.

The Woolen Puppeteer
My daughter the Puppeteer! This photo was taken during the last week of the holidays before Emily went back to uni for her final year. We had planned to take some photos of her puppets for some time and then when we got around it it we couldn't get a day with good light, in the end we took the photos anyway as it was the day of her return and we had no more time.
Emily has written a bit about her crafty summer on her blog Rustic Writer.
She made her first puppet some time ago when she first learnt to crochet and wanted to make something give her sister. As Catherine is studying drama and she thought a puppet would be good fun way of learning her lines. As she went along she wrote down the pattern and is now working on this to sell on Etsy - once its perfected.
Here are some of the characters:
These two are crochet and sock puppets
We have all had a lot of fun with these critters!
Missing having you around Em.
Will be back with more of her holiday makes later.
Thanks for looking.

A Box of Books
While at Paper Maze on Saturday I purchased the crop kit for June. As I mentioned yesterday I decided to use it to make a layout of Emily at 20 months showing how she used to tip all the books out of the box and get it it to read!
Here is Vanessa's original, please see the Papermaze blog - 'Scrap, Paper, Scissors' for more details - There is a link in my sidebar.
Here are the original photos of Emily, taken in 1993 at home. She looks amazed at the news in this Lego catalogue!
This page was designed by Vanessa and uses papers from October Afternoon's Sasparilla Collection (Rustler, Wagon Train, Stagecoach, Tumbleweed and Pony Express)
Bazzill in Berrylicious, Natural and Indigo
Blue buttons ( I added some red and cream ones)
Cherry Red Bakers Twine (I added some Navy)
and some Natural Ribbon.
Some close up photos
I used one of the buttons to centre my windmill rather than a paper rose.
I used my Stampin' Up punch to create my bunting, but followed Vanessa's method of stringing the flags together.

I used Basic Grey's PB&J letter stickers as did Vanessa, with some letters created with spare papers and a Cuttlebug alphabet die set.
Here is Vanessa's original, please see the Papermaze blog - 'Scrap, Paper, Scissors' for more details - There is a link in my sidebar.

Love these pictures, although they are scanned in from the original negatives so the quality is not brilliant, but the memory is preserved.
Thanks for looking.

Through The Aether - Published at last!
After months of sorting submissions, editing, type setting, proof reading, publicising, Emily and her friend Christian were finally able to launch their anthology at Waterstones, Nottingham on 7th June. I wish I could have been there, but along the way she has sent photos and kept us all up to date through the Nottingham Anthology Blog and her own Something Surprising blog.
For it's third year, Christian and Emily ran the Nottingham Student Anthology. It’s purpose is to show off the work of all the School of Eduction students at Nottingham. It includes the work of Creative & Professional Writing, Fine Art and also Humanities students. (Please see Emily's blog for more details.) The Anthology enjoyed overwhelming success the year before, so it was up to Christian and Emily to do it again - no pressure!

Emily designed the art work for the cover.
The post cards inviting people to the launch, with art work from the Anthology.
some of the books when they arrived.
That photo (above) reminds me - While looking through some photos at home recently I found this (below) and other pictures of Emily at 20 months of age. I have made a layout with them 'Called a Box of Books' which I will show you tomorrow.
The news in that Lego catalogue must be amazing!
Good luck with the Anthology Emily, worth all the hard work, and we look forward to seeing you home for the summer very soon xxx

Cacti & Goblin
Emily has been busy again making gifts. We both love the Molly Makes Magazine and when she cam home from Uni for the holidays she has a few issues to catch up on. She wanted to make something special for her friend Sinade as a thank you gift, so got the felt out and made this gremlin.
He even has little tattoos embroidered on his arm. Emily decided give him a jumper to wear, and although used to knitting had not done cable before. She learnt to do this so he could have this super cosy jumper.
Emily has also been working on making a pattern to crochet a cactus for another friend and here is her sample.
It's been great fun having Emily home, especially as we can craft together. Shame she has to return to Nottingham on Wednesday.
Other news is Andrew had to return yesterday to Manchester as he has exams today. And Catherine also returns to Twickenham on Wednesday. We have all have a lovely few weeks being together again. I shall miss you all. Our next opportunity to be all together will be Easter and their 20th birthday.

So proud of Emily on having her story published today in Cadaverine Magazine.
Very topical story for the time of year too.
Well done sweetheart. xxx

Little Miss Giggles
What fun! Emily made this little gift for her friend's birthday yesterday. We were sorting out all our craft stuff and she decided to make this character from felt. Then we took her into the garden for a photo shoot!
Happy birthday Gem!
