Dezzi and Emi

Catching up with blogging some crafty things I made before Christmas.

This layout was created at the October Papermaze Crop, and was designed by Lou.

The photo shows my daughter Emily who is learning to ride when she stays at her boyfriend Jack's house. His mother is teaching her on Dezzi (Lancier d'Extruval) an ex-thoroughbred racehorse.

The kit contained a sheet of Kaisercraft Weathered (Base paper), chipboard sheet, Bazzill in turquoise mist, saguaro and Bahama, black dewdrops, green twine, washi tape and wire.

The bricks were made with the chipboard by cutting the shapes and spritzed with coffee shop glimmer mist and white Dylusions ink.

The petals and leaves were made using a dies.

Here is Lou's original layout:

Gift Wrapping for Wine

Last weekend - at the Papermaze Christmas Crop, Lou Collins held a make and take to make this delightful label / wrap for giving a bottle of wine as a gift for Christmas.

Here is my result:

We used patterned papers, Kraft Bazzill, twine, Stickles, 3D foam pads, dew drops, a greeting stamp, snowflake, leaf, oval and border punches. On the back is a piece of patterned paper for the 'to' and 'from' details and greeting.

Thanks for a great make and take Lou. I look forward to presenting this to ********* on Christmas day!

Thanks for looking.

Edna Ellaline Bryan Holder 1911

Edna Ellaline Bryan Holder is my great aunt on my maternal grandfather's side. Edna and my grandfather were siblings, there were fourteen children in their family. I have a wonderful photo of them all at a wedding in 1911, but decided it would be good to find out a bit about each of them and scrap them separately. My cousin Nina is Edna's granddaughter and she told me a little about Edna's name.

"'Bryan' was the surname of the lady who delivered her and my Mum thinks 'Ellaline' was possibly after a popular actress of the time, Ellaline Terriss."

I looked her up and Ellaline Terriss was an English actress and singer, best known for her performances in Edwardian musical comedies.

This photo shows Edna in 1960.
The strange thing is Edna was my grandfather, Ernest Holder's sister, and she married Alfred Humm who was my grandmother, Winifred Humm's brother - makes creating the on-line family tree very difficult!

My layout was created from the crop kit for Papermaze's August crop, and was designed by Lou Collins. The kit contained:
The paper is Crate Paper, The Pier Collection - Frozen Treats.
Bazzill cardstock in Brown, Twig and Olive. Red Co'ordinations cardstock. White and cream lace and Prima roses.

In the crop we also used: Martha Stewart Butterfly punch, several dies, Tim Holtz Tissue Tape, Glimmer Mist, a Technique Tuesday and a Kaisercraft stamp & lemon Liquid Pearls.

I added a title with Making Memories mini shimmer alpha stickers, acetate postmark and Distress inks.

Thank you for looking at a little of my family history.

Godmother

Here is my version of this month's crop kit for Papermaze. It was designed by Louise Collins. I love the colours and designs of these Carta Bella - Paris Girl papers. Great to make a shaped layout too.

I flipped the page as I like my photo subjects to be looking into the page rather than off the edge!
This photo is one I found recently of my sister Sylvia, at her Christening with her Godmother Sylvia. I have already scrapped some of the beautiful photographs that my father took on that day, but recently found a few more which I scanned. This one is so 1960's. My title was created with a rub-on from Kaiser Craft, but I altered it to read Godmother rather than mother with another rub-on from the same sheet. I added some Making Memories rub-on numbers for the date.

This layout used Bazzill, Carta Bella Paris Girl Papers - French Labels and Paris Borders, black lace, Queen & Co. grey flat backed pearls, Smash tape - black dots and pink chalkboard glimmer mist.

Here is Lou's pretty original layout.

Great kit, really enjoyed making this up.

The Big Event

Today Linda and I headed off early to Henley, Suffolk for the first Your Creations - The Big Event . The scrapbooking crop event was organised by Anna Parker and was held in the Henley Community Centre. Together with Jane and Debbie they hope to hold two of these events a year.

There were two craft shops on site for the day - Paper Maze, and Crafts and Candlelight.

A choice of four classes was offered, you could take part in any number of these. There was a lucky dip, a raffle (I won a CM scrapbook album) and refreshments were available all day and we took our lunch with us.

The kit was optional and contained the materials necessary for all the classes, where there was overlap of papers and embellishments you could buy the extras needed. The papers and letter stickers were all 'Everybody Loves Christmas' from Echo Park.

There was a beginners class (which we didn't do), a non-Christmas layout designed by Wendy McKee and taught by Anna. A gift box class designed and taught by Karen Leonard. The last class was a Christmas themed layout by Lou Collins.

Here are some sneak peeks of each class from the designers, until I get time and daylight to finish off or photograph my creations from the day.

I also had time to make another layout, in the cropping room before I started classes.
Back soon with my box and layouts.

Thanks to Anna and the team for a great day scrapping!
